I would suggest getting this over a raspberry pi as certain games seem to run much better when run through windows (or even better would be a Linux distro specifically made for gaming) and especially with a better cpu as the raspberry pi is a bit lacking in this department.

      The PC.

N64 was super smooth on my old p3 with a Geforce2. Computers have only gotten more powerful since the p3.

RPi's just have such slow caches and what not; most worked on the pi3, and probably works fine on pi4, but project64 on a full pc has such a huge range of plugins and tweaks, its a much more enjoyable experience.

      • Err, why am I negged with no explanations?

Im really bothered when people neg literal fact, not opinion, and dont bother countering the facts.

We have 3 people saying PC, as I did, and apparently thats 'wrong'? Ffs, I developed a few of the damn plugins! Heh.

    • X86 is way better for N64. There's some pretty accurate emulators you could run on this machine.
Only reason to get the pi4 for it would be if you wanted easy 240p output to an old TV

  • Thanks will look into the Linux option over windows

  • Does anyone know how many additional 3.5" HDDs can be added to it? I am thinking of using it as a NAS

Yes, wilburre does, he's outlined it above.

  • Just bought one, thanks OP

  • I have to admit the case on this looks better than the HP Elitedesk 800 G1.

I'm guessing here the HP has slightly more functionality with 2 extra usb slots at the rear and better airflow.

  • are the 2 display ports hdmi? can you pick up for a discount as no shipping required?

    • DisplayPort (shows in second image). eBay has click and collect with Parcelpoint and Hubbed that you can choose at checkout.

  • out of stock now. how does this model compare apart from no ssd but has faster cpu https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234141925574 at AU $169.15
    ?

Besides lack of ssd the cpu is also a generation older but has similar single threaded performance. Single threaded performance is vital for basic office and computer use imo

Looks quite okay, it has more usb3 slots at the rear but only one display port according to the image but lack of ssd is main issue unless you already have one

      • thanks mate i do have a spare 250gb ssd but its in a dead laptop. are they compatible or do you need buy an enclosure to used in a PC?

  • Can I use a rtx 460 in this rig?

    • While technically yes, if you have to ask, then in all honesty, the level of hackery required makes it a no.

      • I would like to go for a gtx 1050 ti but couldn’t find any in my budget
