  Some books may be Remainder Marked.

  Whats this mean? They were meant for mulching like unsold magazines?

    Yes in a way. For some more context, Book Grocer sells a mix of remainder, new and secondhand books on the site. The books in our book boxes specifically are remainders, which means they're new books that are discounted (and aren't secondhand or damaged). Remainders come into existence when a publisher prints too many copies of a book, after which they'll either pulp them (helping no one!) or sell them to companies like us. We're a big fan of not letting perfectly fine books get pulped, so since the pandemic started we've been constructing these book boxes to give them a new life. Sometimes a book may be 'remainder marked' (a small texta mark on the base of the book, and perhaps a small price to pay for such cheap book boxes!). Hopefully that helps!

    You'll find that these books contain different words to the books you can buy for a dollar, thus making them of greater value.
