Garden Hose - Foam Gun/Cannon Options

So, was thinking, Sunday, bored $#17less and prob need to wash the car.
In a manly manner all males can turn to procrastination as a means to delay getting off the couch, I begun to google 'cheap garden hose foam gun'.

As this would be a temp use unit only.
(Have a high-pressure washer interstate - travelled pre the latest lockdown and been stationary since. So only need a reasonable and good/cheap unit).

Has anyone had any experience with any devices that are inexpensive (sub $50, maybe even around $30 would be better), one can simply use to plug into a garden hose adaptor?

Couldn't seem to find much from Repco, Bunnings, Kmart or the likes. (No access to Big-w or Autobarn at present).

If something of recommendation from eBay, Amazon, etc. can order and wait if really worth it, if AU stock/seller.

Cheers all!

(P.S. - yes, I'll prob get off my @r5e and just use a bucket in the end, but still be nice to grab a cannon as it looks like one/all will still be stuck for many weeks to come…)

Anyone of those hose ones are hopeless. Not worth the money. Just hose down and do 2 bucket wash

    • Yeah, that's what I was after. Something just to 'foam' up some suds.
Trying to find a short cut way… being Sunday and all…
Pretty good pressure here, but get your point.

      Wishful thinking I guess…

They tend to not foam up at all. Comes out very wet rather than the good proper foam from high pressure units with say the Meguiars or Bowdens foam spray gun.

In any event I find doing the foam was only helps in getting the light dirt off. You still need to hand wash after a foam or prewash.

Enjoy your wash. In Melb it is going to pour with rain tomorrow.

  • The first foam cannon I purchased was one that attached to a garden hose.

I have very good town water pressure but at best the result was fairly mediocre.

You can still buy them from eBay, AliExpress etc., but all they are really good for is removing light dust from a car. YMMV.

Consider buying a cheap pressure washer from somewhere like Bunnings (under $100) and a real foam cannon.

    • Was trying to avoid buying another HPW.

Already have 2 and 3 of far to many thing in the garage and spare room. ); need to start selling and giving some of the stuff away again.

But your prob right… was hoping to find something that 'just does a near enough/good enough job' for sub $50 without needing another bit of machinery…

      Damn it!

  • I have one but I can't recall where I got it. It does work though nowhere near as well as a proper one. I bought it just out of interest to compare. Was probably off ebay.

EDIT: It's identical to this one and the pic in the listing is actually accurate in terms of how it performs: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/202422152656?epid=573054861&hash…

If you're still game to try a cannon that fits on a garden hose, for $27.69

You can always use it to spray your Roses or wash your residence's windows if they aren't too dirty.

    + a bucket and a hose.
After a good hosing down apply the suds all over the car and let it soak. Go over it with the suds again hosing each panel as you go from the top down. No need to chamois.
You get some exercise and save $s. :-)

Ended up just doing the old bucket wash. Might give one of the ebay jobs a run in future, for the sake of seeing how it goes.
    Cheers!
