[VIC] Document Shredder Service for Public User

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if we have a shredding machine which we can use if we don't have a shredder at home. WFH, so cant access work. I don't require very often but over the months I have a lot of documents that I want to shred and not throw carelessly in trash. Just like we have printing facilities at Officeworks.

Didn't know that existed, I have a shredder I use maybe once every couple of years when I do a document cleanup.

Worth the $5 simply because mine only takes a few pages at a time and it's annoying to sit there feeding it in and unclogging it when it invariably gets stuck on a staple.

    Awesome Thanks mate.

  • What about "shredding" old harddisks. I have lots of them from legacy laptops/pcs. No point rebirthing them because of small capacity (like literally from 500mb to 1gb range)?

Use a hammer. Take the HDDs to your local IT recycling place.

And the xollect all the pieces and drop off at office works. They have a recycle box just at the entrances.

hammer or drill a few holes in them.

Honestly I just use the hammer method, smack the crap out of them a few times, put some big dents in the top, turn them over and smash the board and connectors off.

If someone wants to 'fix' that to recover my data, then honestly be my guest to my cat pictures and ozbargain comments ;)

      • You have a dedicated hard disk for cat pictures and ozb comments? Lol.

Mine has lots of financial data and stuff (ex-pictures lol) so need to total all my old hard disks.

Use something like DBAN if you are really paranoid.

The CIA grinds their disks into dust and then mixes it in with concrete on new buildings. Not sure if you need to go that far.

Woohoo… We have a metal shredder at work and I love feeding it hard drives.

I've been trying to get work to accept outside people being able to pay and have us eat their security metal devices like hard drives, computers and phones. I wanted to set it up with a webcam so they can watch live or upload it to YouTube.

      • This is maybe what I need.

        • Oxy acetylene?
          .

  • Little ones we destroy and take the magnets out. We currently use a couple of these magnets as a gate closer to stop our cats pushing open the metal gate in the porch. They are quite powerful.
