Not the best price as it was for $624 recently but better than $849.

Compared to Fenix 6 Pro (1.3 inch) this one is bigger in size by 0.1 inch (bring on the size jokes).

With a big, sunlight-readable 1.4" display that's 36% larger than previous fēnix models, the fēnix 6X Pro and fēnix 6X Sapphire multisport GPS watches add mapping, music and more to your workouts. They offer training status, running/cycling dynamics and environmentally adjusted VO2 max estimates. Both models feature a first-of-its-kind PacePro feature that helps keep your pacing strategy on track, providing grade-adjusted guidance as you run a course. Styled for all-day wearability, these versatile watches come with preloaded TOPO maps and ski maps for more than 2,000 worldwide ski resorts. Other highlights include enhanced wrist heart rate (the data and information provided by these devices is intended to be a close estimation of your activity and metrics tracked, but may not be precisely accurate), smart notifications (when paired with a compatible smartphone), Pulse Ox (this is not a medical device and is not intended for use in the diagnosis or monitoring of any medical condition) sensing, Garmin Pay contactless payments (not all countries and payment networks are eligible) and more. Customizable power manager modes let you see and control how various settings and sensors impact battery life. Sapphire editions add the quality and durability of a scratch-resistant sapphire lens and other premium materials.

  • Is this better than an Apple Watch?

    • +2

      Different.

      Garmin = Sports
      Apple = General

      • What does this offer that you can’t do with Apple Watch?

Edit: so far I can see the comment about better battery.

        • +3

What the F6 Pro/Sapphire series can do:
          VO2 Max estimation
Suggested training run activities (Nike Run Club does this also, but Garmin has adaptive training plans for 5k, 10k, HM and Marathon)
Sleep data that doesn’t decimate the battery overnight.
          14 day battery life (and that’s with a 60-min GPS-tracked activity daily).
Ability to connect ANT+ Heart Rate Monitors for advanced running metrics (you can connect a HR strap to an AW, but it’ll only push HR data AFAIK).
Pulse Oximeter (if comparing to an AW5 or earlier).
          More durable screen.

What does it do the similarly:
          Notifications from apps
          Local music storage using Spotify
Connect to Bluetooth headphones (I use mine with AirPods Pro

What you can’t do with it:
          Take Calls
          Send / read Messages
          Use Siri
          Use Apple Music
Hide it under the buttoned cuff of some business shirts/jumpers. It’s definitely chunkier.

@yojabbajabba: You can sorta read messages, I get the first few lines of sms or email as alerts when they arrive which is quite handy as you can see at a glance if its something that needs attention. Good when driving though may technically be illegal

      I am using both.

Pro: Better battery life (14 days better)
Better GPS, Heart rate, and more health-related stats
      Amazing Garmin community
      Bigger size

Cons: Can not take calls and stream music if you are using Esim
Can not answer calls or SMS from your watch

So if you are the kind of person who wants to be connected to the outside world all the time then go for Apple watch otherwise Garmin.

      • i wear one on each arm

    • They're both quite different, as they were made with different purposes in mind, so it's not the easiest to compare each one and say which one is better. If you're already in the Apple ecosystem, the Apple watch would be a better choice for you. If you're more of an outdoor, sporty person, the Garmin wouldn't be a bad choice.

    • Its bigger?

      • Physically bigger. Chunky boy height wise compared to an AW6 (especially compared to the 40mm)

  • +3

The extra screen size means you can have up to 8 data fields in your screen vs 6 on the 6 pro.

  • +1

It's huge though, so if you have a girly wrists get the smaller versions

    • I have the 6 Pro Sapphire. When I was debating which to get, the 6X was huge on my wrist and I don’t have small wrists at all. I think you have to like big watches to get the 6X otherwise get the 6/6 Pro

  • I wonder if JB will price match this?

    • +1

If you have someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing you might be lucky but because it’s not an available price for everyone they won’t (due to it being a Prime special).

  • Showing as $848 for me?

  • Great deal but alas again waiting for the 6x Sapphire -cries-

  • Deal expired, i got excited when i saw the $664 price bugger.

    • +1

I was sussing it out too :(
