Can anyone comment on these type of mats? Legit or pseudo-science?

got it ages ago, it hurts so much that make you forget your original backpain, that's it.

Also getting up is a big challenge.

      • +2

I already have problem getting it up as is

          You chose the red pill?

I have never used it but can't see it being worth $80 for basically a yoga mat with spikes.

How could muscle imbalance (pain) be fixed by some rubber nibs sticking into the surface of your skin.

Maybe it's a placebo of forcing people to actually lay flat on their back(possibly the real effect) rather than being slouched over a computer desk or phone?

      Pseudo-science.

      TLDR: pseudoscience
If you feel better after laying on it, great, but no evidence for any medical benefit beyond that.

    • there must be pressure points on every square inch of your body by the looks of the mat

    • Yeah they work for minor things. A bit like a TENS machines. This mat seems pretty expensive for what it is though so shop around

    Undecided, I’ll sleep on it..

  • Retail $134?

Picked one up on catch for ~$30 and does what it says it does. Couldn't imagine paying much more though.

    • Yep, maybe worth $20-30 for a gimmick.

For the 1-2 times it will get used I agree. Now that I have thought about it I'm going to go and lay on it to make sure I get my money's worth..

  • wow .. RRP is crazy.

$30 on ebay. cant comment on the difference on the "pain level" … but the ebay one hurts me good enough LOL

  • I have one similar to this and I love it. It hurts first two or three times, but then you get used to it. It simply feels like a massage, your stiff muscles are relaxed after this. It is actually so relaxing that I fell asleep couple of times on this. I was surprised with the results myself - I didn't think it will work.

I think it is still best to try this first if you can, I lent mine to three of my friends, two of them bought it, one hated it.

  • I got one $27 from eBay a few years ago and take 1 hour naps on it without a shirt. Feels absolute bliss. Probably doesn't do anything other than that though.

I got the shakti mat and it works great. Pain first few times then get use to it. I lay on it with nothing on.

  • I got mine from Kmart for $20

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/acupressure-mat/3002322

I get a very stiff back after a nights sleep so use this when I wake up in the morning to relieve some pressure works a treat.

    • Any other tips? I've got the same problem

I also have the Shakti mat which is longer at 74cm. My husband uses it too so great for taller people.

Took a few goes to get used to it and find it quite relaxing, especially with wfh and lockdown.

They should have a forum section where people can pitch products to OzBargainers (like Dragon Den) such a good way to see if consumers would buy it. I love seeing businesses post their products on here and see the comments/views from people

    • That's a great idea!

(Although I would say that wouldn't apply with this product. This is just a standard product made in china for years, and these guys have just put their marketing on it and charge 3-4 times the price).

      • hahaha yea I agree with that. Then again they could have incorporated something into it that isn't included in the generic alibaba products but failed to mention it to consumers
