Didn't realise these guys ship from England, got stuck with a big foreign transaction fee. Hunting around now for a card without foreign transaction fees.

The discount here is not significant enough not to find something locally. I have bought this particular set from Myer/ebay special for under $900.

This will also risk attracting customs duty charges as over $1000 along with foreign transaction fees if you have them.

    • ING refunds foreign trans fees, wouldn’t this get GST on entry to Australia though?

      • My experience is most sneak through even if over 1K as long of course not bought from AMZ and Ebay .
        Luck of the draw .

        • Sometimes yes however you will find a number of Zavvi/iwoot customers here who have had to pay customs duty/GST on orders.

The catch is that the website does not make it clear they are overseas and many people order over $1000 not realising they will be subject to duty charges and foreign postage delays.

Watch out this site, all shipping done from UK. Terrible packaging, takes forever to arrive. And for a set like this, over $1000, it will stuck at custom. Last time I ordered from them, the customer service doesn’t give a shit, took forever to go back and forth. Ended with tons of effort and paid all custom fee and gst on top of my purchase price, don’t buy from any iwoot, zavvi site.

    Definitely echo above… buyer beware!

Don't know where the complaints are coming from, I've ordered multiple sets from them and they are arrived fine and cheaper than anything you can buy here (Sian, 911 creator, 911 RSR). Never had custom duties, box arrived fine.

Same. Took 10 days from purchase to door, perfect condition box. Ordered the Liebherr R 9800 Excavator 42100. Paid 70% of the local price. Well worth it!

The sets you ordered are not $1000+ which is when the import tax kicks in….

Pretty sure Gerry Harvey made sure that all import taxes are paid….. regardless of cost.

Besides if you buy from the zavvi US website it’s $950 (after conversion) delivered so your argument is moot.

        • They don’t give a shit on the custom fee. With such a big and heavy set, you are mostly screwed with this shipping from U.K.

    • i've ordered a few sets, some came without damage, others were very poorly packaged. Would have to be an insane deal for me to order from them again.

I’ve heard enough. I don’t buy from a seller based on the luck of a few. There seems to be a fair share of dissatisfaction here and plenty to worry about in the world right now without adding pain-in-the-ass sellers to the list.

  • A .com.au domain indicates the seller must have an ABN, and therefore with the volume being sold would indicate (SHOULD…) be registered for GST.

Sellers have to be compliant with Australian rules including the ACL, tax, etc if they are registered in Australia - there are quite a few red flags that Zavvi has, that I wouldn't touch them.

    • Yes but this is the thing as well that really annoyed me. On both their US and the AU website, on the final checkout page it says "GST included". But after you buy it, none of their emails say they are tax invoices, they don't quote ABNs and none of the correspondence show any GST amounts. So you have no proof that the amount paid includes GST. That's why people get hit with GST at customs from them.
