Where Can I Try Wireless Mouse in Person (Sydney)

I’m in the market for a high end wireless mouse with easy to recharge docking. I have extra large hand and I’m right hand. I’d rather jot buy online sight unseen. Is there a place in Sydney where I can try out a variety of mouse? Or would I need to wait after lockdown to visit job hi fi etc?

You'll have to wait until lockdown is over. Make a shortlist of models you'd like to try in the meantime

    • Yep no rush, just planning ahead. I don’t think we will open up anytime soon anyway

    Wait until after lockdown

Not essential. Wait until lockdown is over.

It boggles the mind how people are still asking these questions.

    • Maybe OP just wanted to humble boast?

        Big hands, small pencil!

  • officeworks? Woolies?

    • +3

Do you really think Officeworks are going to let you come in store to try out mice at this time? You have been paying attention to what's been happening in your city, right?

And do Woolies even sell high end mice with charging docks as per the OP's requirement?

      • I havent left my house since june so i wouldnt know whats open and not. So be gentle mate!

But i thought officeworks was essential so should be open.

OP should just really buy online and read reviews.

It'd be best for you to get up to speed on the current restrictions if you haven't left the house since June; a lot has changed since then and will continue to change.

Bunnings also isn't open to the public any more unless you're a tradie.

        • How do you get food or supplies if you haven't been out since June??

      • @ kerfuffle you must be fun at parties

          • @kerfuffle: Don't worry I'll upvote you to counteract the negs!

reviews, then purchase a number of different ones from places like ebay with ebay plus with free returns or physical stores near you with good return policy's. Try to repackage it up neatly and use isopropyl alcohol to clean and sanitize it.

1218 new cases in Sydney today.. Hey guys where can I go to test pilot mice?

    • there will always be dumb people on this planet

  • +3

Just do the ozbargain way and get a logitech mx master 3 mouse

  • I don't know what's open but if you can't find a place and need a mouse measure your hand and check the dimensions online.

  • +2

MX Master 2 or 3. You don't need to try anything else.

If you live in the poostain brown and urine yellow areas, ahem, I mean southwest and western Sydney you don't matter. Woops, I mean, you probably can't go out to try a mouse. If you live in the east and northern suburbs thank you for following the rules, you can probably go to Officeworks to try a mouse, I'm sure everything is still open.

      I’m sure everything is open

      From the Officeworks website

      Greater Sydney stores

Stores in Greater Sydney are closed except for Contactless Click & Collect in line with government advice, including print and copy.

You must use our Service NSW QR code to check-in and wear a mask when arriving at our stores.

We’ve also extended our returns policy from 30 days to 60 days to make it easier for you to return or exchange items when we reopen.

      • I was being sarcastic, but thanks for the clarification.

Click and collect is technically still "open" though. Just not open for browsing, but no matter because I was being sarcastic. My apologies madam.

  • I'd guess that they'd have a mouse enthusiast group on facebook that might have a meet up around Sydney when the lockdown is over?
I'd look for those groups tbh. People in enthusiast groups tend to love sharing what they enjoy so, you might have a lot of options that people are willing to let you try. Again, when the lockdown is over.

  • I’m in the market for a high end wireless mouse with easy to recharge docking

Only one would be the Razer afaik (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/646466 see this one previously…I would have jumped on this if I could)

else you get a third party dock for logitech mice / powerplay mat — if corsair they have a wireless qi pad option

If you have a logitech mouse and don't want to splurge on the powerplay mat, Cheapest Quality of Life option is a magnetic usb connector then the third party dock you can find off aliexpress ('pitta design' logitech dock)

  • Post up photos of your hands OP next to a banana for scale and I'm sure someone here can recommend you a mouse based on the exact shape and size of your hands, the length of your fingers and the striations and ridges of your palm.

I would definitely recommend MX ERGO

I've been using it for 3.5 years with no problems.

    I have really big hand.

I tried many different kinds of mouse, more satisfactory than others with size and the design is very comfortable for to use long hours.

    • Interesting. How does the trackball work? Do you use a mouse pad?

      • +1

You use your thumb to roll the ball. If you have a really tight space, it's really nice for that as well, since the mouse does not move.

      • You control it with your thumb and you can use it anywhere.

It feels weird for the first few days but I don't want to use a normal mouse anymore.

It may sound funny but i using it on my belly often because you don't need a flat area.

You can use it wherever you can put your hand.

Even mouse like MX MASTER 3 feel uncomfortable for me because this product provides the comfort of the elbow, wrist and fingers.

  • I have extra large hand and I’m right hand.

You’re so lucky… I would do anything for an extra hand (not fussy about the size).

I’d rather jot buy online sight unseen.

Using a stylus on the screen without looking is unlikely to work. But if you have your credit card details already saved, there is no harm in trying, I guess. The Apple Pencil is supposed to be magical, so for your best chance of success…

Or would I need to wait after lockdown to visit job hi fi etc?

I’m not a patient person, myself. Forget about the mouse and get yourself a high-end keyboard — preferably one that comes with a qualified typist included.

  • Why do you need a high end mouse that you can recharge? Is it for gaming or just work.

I bought a Logitech m590 just because it's a quiet clicker. It uses 1 AA battery and so far, it has lasted a year without changing it, and I never turn it off.

Without context as to why you want a 'high end' mouse, recommendations are going to struggle.

I won't go near testing one in person, as I think you've gotten your answer on that front.
