Sony 85" X9000H 4K UHD Bravia LED TV $3799.99 @ Costco Warehouse (Membership Required)

890

This was seen at Costco Majura Park in Canberra.

Not the cheapest price ever for this popular TV but very close ($3799 vs $3650).

Also not ideal that a lot of places are in lockdown, but may be of use for price matching with other retailers with delivery over the phone / online chat.

"Shoppers must buy what they need and then leave ā€“ no browsing."

      Ain't better than the Sydney…

      • +2

@SF3 if you have any idea how the store is set up (probably not) this is literally the first thing you walk past as you enterā€¦5 seconds for a photoā€¦no browsing.

        So you canā€¦..

Still going to Costco in Melbourne no issues

    • +4

@save50 the ACT is in lockdown, however, we were there ā€œto buy essential groceries and medicineā€ and spotted this on the way in, thought it may be helpful to someone in ozbargain landšŸ‘

  • The LG C1 77 seems to be on sale again to but still pretty average price

  • Has it been updated for 120hz yet?

    • +1

If you mean VRR then no

      • Thatā€™s what I meant, thanks!
Super disappointing that itā€™s taken this long.

  • No. Not until my Panasonic st50 dies.

    • Or my until Panasonic TH-75FX780A dies :-)

    • That thing will out live us all, Bloody made in Japan goodness :)

  • Hopefully the 75ā€ model dip below 2k during Xmas. Would make a perfect all rounder transition until we all get MicroLED TVs

I don't think there is stock of the 75inch anywhere

      • Costco had the KD75X9000H for $2749.99 and the KD75x80j for $2449.99 but i didnā€™t buy as it was still over my expectation.

  • Better deal getting the slightly smaller kd75x8000h for almost half the price when it goes on sale

    • +1

I mean not if you want an 85" TV that does 120hz though…

      • +1

Well no 120hz yet. Sony will release 120hz/VRR same time as the PS5 gets updated for VRR I assume.

        • And AML. Update coming in December.

Man how much would a tv of this spec be worth 2-3 years ago? seems like its getting cheaper and cheaper

    • +3

You might be on to something

  • I have this TV and cannot get the motion to a level I'm happy with. Could anyone else comment if they see the same issue or have managed to get it to a point they are happy with?

    • +2

Have you tried the settings suggested on rtings.com?

    • If you haven't fixed this yet, try these settings:

      In Picture Settings:
      Motion:
      - Motion Flow: Custom
      - Smoothness: 1
      - Clearness: Min
      - Film Mode: Auto

Removed film judder for me, tested with long panning shots from films like 2001 and Interstellar. Buttery smooth now.

You can tweak Smoothness and Clearness more but it introduces other issues if set too high like an artificial looking picture and dims the brightness (although dimming isn't really an issue though as this tv has plenty of brightness to spare).

      Good luck!

  • Anyone done a price match with Sony yet?

    • +1

I tried and was refused. Went to Costco Lidcombe and got it same price as this post.

    • No, x90j has better processing

    • X90j doesnā€™t come in 85ā€

      • No but the X95J will be in 85". Not much longer for the release in Australia I hope.

        • Didn't know that was coming out, cheers!

  • Think 85 is to big for most ppl

    • -2

      That's not what she said

    • Wrong.. Optimal viewing distance is only a few metres away which is plenty for most people's lounge/living room. As long as the whole TV is in you peripheral vision and you aren't close enough to physically see the pixels. With an 85 inch watching 4K, you could sit as close as 5.25 feet without strain (not that I would sit that close). But think bout how close you sit to a computer monitor. It would usually take up most of you peripheral vision, when people go to a store to purchase a TV they need to keep that in mind. People are very uneducated when it comes to viewing distances. Most people's loung/living areas can accommodate fine.. Its just that they are not used to it because they probably never had a TV that big before, the size is a shock at first but that dissipates after watching it for a little while. I remember when I bought my first 4K 70 inch.. I thought wow this thing is huge and now I think it's relatively small and I only sit about 2.6 metres from it.
