Looking for a new washing machine, front loader type around 7-8kgs.

Anyone from the ozbargain community know of any deals or had any good experiences?

    "good experiences?"
Bosch - our 6.5kg is 16 years old. replaced $15 brushes 4 years ago
    YMMV

Bosch again. 8.5kg - At least 10 years old, has been completely faultless. I think mine is Chinese made, not one of the more expensive German ones, don’t let that put you off.

Waiting for the damn thing to die so I can buy another one with a faster spin speed and automatic dosing - it will also be a Bosch.

    I have the combo WV9-1409 and DVH9-09.

    BEKO!

    The end!

You might want to try the search function at the top right hand corner of the page… :)

    • Never used Beko but i am in the market for a washing machine and Beko are the only ones i can see offering 5yrs warranty. Not sure how good their after sales service is but thats pretty good since all others are 2yrs even those german made boschs…

      • Go the Bosch. I had one call out for the service guy and they were pretty good. Weird issue, fixed.

        • Which model do you have?

          • @[Deactivated]: I'm not at my place where the Beko is. It's a 10KG model. 18mth/2 yr old model now.

          • @[Deactivated]: Actually, we have a newer one here too at this property… *runs off to check…
This one is a BFL-7510W but this one is only a 7.5kg…
Check what size (weight) you need. I have a 10kg for the first one I got and prefer that over the newer 7.5kg one.

        • Sorry, mean Beko - get beko!

          • @mickyb80: Ohh haha cheers I'll do some investigating

What about something like this LG? Has direct drive inverter, 10 year warranty on the motor. Very quiet (58db).

    • You could do worse… haven’t heard any horror stories but you could subjectively do better.

I promise I won’t try and push Bosch after this but if it were my money I’d be going for this for a little bit more. Extra 0.5kg capacity with the same energy and water rating.

By the way - the 58db rating is during the wash cycle only - it will be louder during the spin cycle. The Bosch is 56db during wash, 72db during the spin cycle.

Don’t get too carried away with the 10 year motor warranty - it doesn’t really stand for much - the motor in any modern washing machine will last that long. It’s the electronics that you need to watch!

      • I have a similar model (but older) …

you can't overload it (or it'll beep and demand that you pull half of your stuff out - wet) …
it's really slow (if it's not a quick cycle, it cake take well over 3 hours) …
if you need to pause it, it'll be about 5 minutes before the auto lock lets you open the door (annoying because i often forget for a few hours, when it could have been operating) …

    • I’ve got one very similar to the one linked. We absolutely love it. However we’ve only had it for 3 years so can’t really comment on longetivity

Our LG 8kg has been great for 5 years

  • Apparently Beko is big in Europe

    • +1

Yep much more popular in Europe than here. Their washing machine range is made in Turkey :)

      • Just asked someone with a Beko and they said Beko is the poor mans Miele

        • Haha I thought Asko was the poor mans miele but he’s not wrong either!

          • +1

@jackary: I'm pretty happy with that, this is ozbargain after all! hahaha

5 year warranty + 10 year on the motor is good too. Seems over and above other brands.

            • @RogerWilco4: Haha, good luck in your washing machine hunt! Don’t forget to let us know which one you end up deciding on :)

I bought a Bosch 10 years ago based on a recommendation of mate who worked at the Good Guys and it's been great. An independent repair guy who fixed my parents leaky Samsung said he has a Bosch because he doesn't want to fix his machine when he's not at work.

Got a Bosch WAN24120 8Kg from one of the deals here last year (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/bosch-wan24120au). Extremely quiet and the washing's pretty clean. I paid $699 delivered, well worth it.

    Hey folks!

Just ended up jagging a Bosch 8KG WAN24120AU Washing Machine from the Good Guys through their finals footy sale. I called up the sales team on their 1300 number and bloke was awesome and gave me a further discount. Ended up paying $590 plus a further $55 for delivery on a Sunday!

Did not want to go against the wisdom of the ozbargain crowd so had to get the Bosch.

Thanks again for the assist guys!

Got the Washing Machine delivered today - super quiet compared to my old one and a nice small footprint which is great for smaller laundries and freeing up space. Very smooth operation and doesn't shimmy at all.

You can't do the full 8kg wash on 1200rpm, but if you back off the rpm's you can go right up to 8kg. This is a common misconception with this machine (that not all programs take an 8kg wash) but after reading the manual that's just a thing when going flat out at 1200rpm.

Has all the programs you could need including timer start .etc.

Has been a great purchase so if you're in the market for a washing machine go ahead and grab the ozbargain machine of choice from the good guys!

  • bosch about 12 years ago. Doing about 10-13 loads a week so about 6000 loads so far.

Cost was about $800 so it’s about 13c a load so far. Have solar so the only cost is dynamo which is from costco - 5L for about $28.

I am guessing total cost per load is about 18c so far

  • My LG lasted 14 years (replaced seal twice, water pump and door switch) and is still going though it has started making a strange noise, which means I am lining up a replacement.

  • I wish I knew ozbargain back in 2015 when I bought my Electrolux which only lasted less than 7yrs. It's not completely dead yet but close. gonna buy Bosch now. Does it matter if it's made in China or Germany?
