Which GPU Should I Get?

So basically my brothers work at a supplier and I can get a discounted price for a graphics card. I prefer the ROG Strix models but am open to other models if you think they are just as decent… I believe they stock the MSI variants for about a hundred bucks cheaper per model.

3080 - $1740
3070 ti - $1325
3070 - $1220

I am looking for best price to performance in your opinion.

Currently running a 2600x Ryzen CPU, 16gb 3000mhz RAM, Gigabyte G1 1080. Running a 3440x1440 120hz monitor. Some games struggle, hence wanting the upgrade. I'll also look to upgrade my CPU and mobo and possibly RAM after upgrading my GPU too.

More prices;

Ventus
3070 - $1040
3070ti - $1210

Gaming X Trio
3070 - $1095
3070ti - $1275

I would say the 3070 is perfectly capable to run all/most games completely fine. You don't NEED a 3080 to run games, all of them are plenty capable. I would go for the 3070 or the Ti model, but not the 3080. If you don't need a beastly graphics card, the 3070 would be the best option.

    • What are your thoughts on model? I could get the ROG 3070ti for around $1300 or the MSI or another variant for $1200 or even less

  • It will be 3070 for me that balance cost and performance. 2K RT-DLSS most of 3A games with stable 60 FPS, a number of 4K with adaptive graphic settings.

  • Iv just upgraded from a 2600x to a 5600x

Im going 3080 when i can see a good deal. They seem to falling in price now

  • Choose between 3070 or 3070ti for 1440p gaming. They differ by about 5 to 10% in terms of FPS so not that notaiceable. As suggested by everyone get the 3070.

  • 3080 100% for 1440p Ultrawide.
Im running a 3090 for my 1440p ultrawide and plenty of games don't even come close to reaching 144hz or higher (my monitor is 160hz)
3080 would be perfect for your monitors 120hz.

  • Can you get me one?

    • Lining up right behind you

    • Yea, we all need expensive GPUs to play GTA SA with ray tracing… a masterpiece

I really wish I could. They can buy one each and one of my brothers bought one for himself, I am using my other brothers purchase since he is a console gamer. Company probably has the limit in place to stop people buying them cheap and reselling for profit.

I would get the 3070 for $1040, but when the next gen comes out should see a reduction in prices of about 20% across the board of this gen.

  • If you can get a 3070 Gaming X Trio for $1095, then definitely go for that. Gaming X Trio, ROG Strix and Aorus are all about the same level.
A bit on the fence about the 3070Ti, I don't think it's worth the money for single digit improvement but it's a decent back up if you can't get the 3070.
My friend bought for similar price near release date so it's definitely worth it.

  • buy 30 Gaming X Trio
Sell them on ozbargain for $100+ profit each
Use money to buy a new 3080 + 5800x rig

  • Just double down and get the 3080. You pay more but 'yolo' as the kids would say. The extra performance and 2 gigs of VRAM would suit your extra wide screen, and its just right for 4k60fps (assuming you connect to a TV or hdmi2.1 monitor)

  • I decided to go with the ASUS ROG Strix 3080. Turns out it isn't even the LHR model either, which seems insane to me. Total cost is $1736.50. Pretty chuffed, ngl

    • I wish I could afford one of those, I would be chuffed as well
