    • As I am a person unaware of how the system works I was just asking if my funds were safe

The safest place to keep your digital assets is on a cold wallet. The next safest place is on another cold wallet.

      This is financial advice.

Get your digital assets of CEX.

You can thank me by doing it ASAP.

      • This is financial advice.

Just a heads up, you're technically not allowed to give financial advice without a AFS (Australian Financial Services) license, you can be fined for giving out financial advice is by ASIC and there's been a few aussie youtubers that have been pulled up and warned by ASIC..

        • The advice (☝️) that I gave doesn't require a licence.

I'm not promoting an investment instrument nor getting paid for it. It's unbiased advice that is provided to the general public (including OP) for free. The advice has no risk and will benefit anyone that choose to take it.

I'll give the advice again just in case someone missed the first one.

do you know this friend in real life or is it an online only friend?

    • Run away. Why is there nothing about this? Would you put your money in a random bank?

    • Looks fake be very 😒 wary

    • what kind of shares is that?
is this crypto real or fake?

not sure what your question is exactly…

Lol, you purchased usdt in binance, and sent it to some Chinese scam site? Congrats on losing $1k.

    • +2

No it's a scam that is going around on dating apps in Australia and worldwide. They get you to buy USTD on binance - which is just a junk coin that is tied to the USD, it has no independent value. And then they get you to transfer to their broker which looks your money is going up and up, but you have actually lost the money. If you haven't put the USTD into the broker's account quickly convert it back into cash and stop talking to this person.

The company they ask you to send the money to is even usually on this list https://moneysmart.gov.au/companies-you-should-not-deal-with

      https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/comments/jl40ir/an_organized_…

    • So what you bought on Binance is legit. What was the reasoning for sending it to Appcw?
The chances of USDT fluctuating isn't high due the the fact it's similar to a currency like AUD, USD, it's a currency more commonly used to convert money to a coin, it's not really investing.

      • What was the reasoning for sending it to Appcw?

  • Merged from [Suspicious] Realtime Security & Automation - Is It Legit?

    Hi guys,

Over the Christmas shopping I've been looking to buy an Eufy security system for my house. After researching I came across this website

They look legit and said "Australian own business" so I decided to pull the trigger to buy an Eufy Cam 2C Pro 2K Security Kit 3 Pack at $480.

After a few days there is no sign of shipping, the only email I got is an automated email said my order has been received.
Today when checking again I notice they have no phone number, ABN and their Facebook page has no post.

I'm a bit freaked out and just wondering if any of you have bought anything from this website?

    • Looks sus, all their social links lead back to the homepage. Take this as a lesson learnt. Created and managed by Create McArthur. What?

    • Doesn't look massively dodgy but there are a few minor red flags.

Bear in mind it has been Xmas and new year and a lot of businesses only started back work today.

Did you pay via credit card or PayPal?

      • I paid via debit card. I have contacted Commonwealth for a dispute to see what they can do… Lesson learnt…

    • Whois returns a name, company and ABN. Not sure if it's helpful or not. See below.

Also Create MacArthur looks like a legit web design company from SW Sydney. Could try contacting them.

Best case scenario would be that this security side is a side gig for the audio shop as that looks legit.

Worst case is they picked a random ABN and name to sign up for a domain.

          • @pat25d: You’re totally right. The Bankstown sound is legit but I double it has anything to do with the Realtime Security.
Commonwealth Banks said wait a few more days and contact them back by next week if nothing arrives so they can take further.

    • Well, their contact address comes back to these virtual offices:
      https://www.servcorp.com.au/en/serviced-offices/locations/sy…

If the products are too cheap, then bye bye money - unless you claim it back via a credit card chargeback or paypal.

      • Product is $70 cheaper compared to other sites, if it’s significantly cheaper that would have got me alerted. Anyway I already contacted Commonwealth bank.

    • Looks like a side business run from https://www.servcorp.com.au/en/locations/sydney/tower-one-ba… offices as the web contact info is:

      Hi guys,
      Update for my purchase/experience.
After a week of waiting with no sign I have emailed them and pmed them on facebook to follow up with delivery. A person named Shaun Adams email back and said they have issue with warehouse and Covid cases in NSW so delivery were delay for another few days. After another 2 days I got an email from Sendle said I have a package from Bankstown Sound & Marine and finally the package arrived today.
So in conclusion this business is legit and they're a side business of Bankston Sound & Marine, and probably because the business is quite new they don't have phone number and ABN on their website and their email, that's why it made me (and others) feel suspicious. I will send an email to them to express some thoughts and hope they can improve their customer experience better. I'll also call Commonwealth to cancel the dispute case.
Many thanks for your help guys, have a good weekend.

Found this site, had best pricing for branded clothes and free delivery at $79AUD. But went into terms and conditions; aspects of it seemed dodgy. So refrained from purchase.

  • Merged from General Face Masks at Ppesupplier

Saw these 50-pack 3-ply general face masks on sale at ppesupplier.com.au for $5.80, down from $15.40. Looks like a good bargain but I have never heard of ppesupplier.com.au. Have anyone purchased face masks from them before?

    Thanks.

  • Merged from Is AustralianMaskSpecialist.com a Legit Site?

My partner purchased some KN95 masks from a website called australianmaskspecialist.com. I am not convinced the masks are real, they have zero markings on them other than KN95 and come with a printed "Qualified Certificate" thats poorly translated to english.

They also have holes in the mask above the nose where I can see through and also can blow air through. How can a mask provide any protection if it has holes?

I have ordered some P2 masks from a more reputable source but just curious to hear if this website is a total scam. She found it on Finder and its still listed there:

    https://www.finder.com.au/buy-face-masks-online

    • Genuinely curious - what other marks is it supposed to have other than ‘kn95’

      • The KN95 standard requires that masks made after July 1, 2021, be stamped with GB2626-2019. Conveniently my masks have a production date of 28 June 2021 according to the "Qualified Certificate" included with the masks so technically would not require markings.

        • Does seem pretty suss - though I guess maybe not totally impossible. These days only buy my masks from big suppliers or at least well known sources too many fakes/mislabelled gear. Imagine going to the effort and cost of kn95 or p2 and finding out it’s no better than surgical (or even worse with your ones having holes)

    • ABN/ACN created in June 2020

Website lacks decent english, indicating drop-shipper or similar

No ph number or street address under Contact Us

Just a quick simple Shopify page for drop-shipping

    • KN95 masks don’t require any certification. You can buy them at Bunnings for $.40 https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-kn95-dust-respirator_…

N95 mask are medical grade and require certification.

Both offer a high level of filtration, ie 95% of particles, but the N95 have a higher level of quality assurance and testing. For either fit on your face is important.

There’s probably no way to know if the masks you bought are up to spec. But they might actually be great. With the N95 you’re essentially paying for the quality assurance and verification that they meet the standard.

  • Merged from Can Anyone Help Me Identify The Legitimacy of This Extremely Cheap Graphics Card?

New user here, first post. I came across this Asrock RX 6600 XT card on Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09K4LR4LY/ It was showing $298 yesterday from a seller called "Happy Home Italy". It looks doggy but it was listed on Amazon, so I was hoping it to be a pricing mistake. This morning I checked it again, price dropped to $172 and the seller name changed to "TRIPPODO AU". This confirmed that it was not a pricing error, it is not a legit item for sure, but can anyone help to identify the problems? Since when did Amazon allow doggy sellers? Is what this seller is selling actually a graphics card, or just some sort of accessary?

    Thank you guys

    • +8

If it did arrive, it would likely be a different card with it's BIOS flashed to make it appear as a 6600 XT.

Happens all the time with Aliexpress/Wish GPUs.

      • Thanks for letting me know this trick. I can understand this happens all the time with Aliexpress/Wish but am a little surprised to know Amazon allows them to do that.

    • +4

It's $172 plus $40 delivery from an unknown seller. Could be compromised account that disappears. You're very unlikely to get a 6600 XT and Amazon are notoriously nonchalant about third party sellers on their platform and will tell you to sort it out with the seller after a month of hearing nothing… Avoid.

Buy it and when it arrives you can check it out for issues etc.
