      Username does not checkout

      • Correct.

    • If it looks to good to be true
      Then it is

But yes, when they're selling $2500+ bikes for $98.99 common sense would kick in

Its almost as if you do go ahead and purchase from them then you almost deserve to be fleeced of your money.

This is in the same league as the sites selling RM's for $90 on clearance

Sorry for being a bit blunt.

    • There are more flaws in their website than I have seen for a long time

      Domain Name: OZTOYLIB.COM.AU
      Registrant Contact Name: dubreuil jared
      Registrant Contact Email: [email protected]
      Registrant ID: ACN 060481521

The ACN used to register the .com.au is for a company called "OZ TO WORLD PTY LTD" which seems to be a legit company:
      https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?id=060481521

I'd near bet the scammy website has no connection to the ACN they've used…

The contact info on the scammy site is:
Address: 108 Woerdens Road, MCCULLYS GAP, New South Wales, 2333
      [email protected]

That address does not exist and the email address is associated with other scammy ebike sites:
      https://www.signal-arnaques.com/en/scam/view/387561
Fraudulent website : bikesk.com [email protected]

    • So I can confirm it's a SCAM!!!

I ordered a "bike" and received a scarf.

Additionally instead of charging me $99.85 they charged me $107.49.
2 weeks later I got 3 transactions to Ecuadorian airline.

Lucky enough it's a credit card and now they are sorting everything for me

  • Merged from Plug Tech - Too Good to Be True?

    Hi everyone.

Plug Tech (https://plug.tech/) claims to be selling refurbished iPhones, AirPods and other devices for very impressive prices.

Now, normally, the logical person in me would dismiss this as a scam. But, not only do they seem to have amassed a bunch of great reviews - they also have a TikTok account that is very popular (over 200k followers) that showcases all their devices and the processes they go through with them. They explain there that they get their devices as used unsold stock from carriers for them to refurbish and sell, hence the prices.

They also have a mobile app on the iOS App Store.

I would assume, if they were a scam, their tiktok page would be gone, as well as their app. So I am now very convinced and tempted to order a pair of $99 AirPods.

Does anyone have any experience with Plug Tech? If not, could you weigh in with your opinion of legitimacy? Thanks

    • No

    • Your title tells you.

    • Are the prices also USD?

      • No - AUD.

I know it appears far too good a deal to be true, but everything I’ve read and seen indicates them to be legitimate. I was hoping someone had experience with them.

        • Let us all know how you go!

    • if you are after iphone 7, 8 etc, https://refurbished.boost.com.au/ is a better place to buy

    • Looks very dodgy. Reviews are fake for sure with occasional paid-for video.

      Apparently a rebrand from eCommsell.

$99 USD for used AirPods + $34.32 shipping making it US$144.31. That's A$200. If it ever arrives.

      Avoid.

      • Hmm yep I didn’t even consider fake reviews.

I wonder how they have an app on the App Store.

I think prices are in aud?

        • No, USD. Just tried checking out myself. Apps and reviews are easily bought, plenty services for that.

    • Have you added shipping fee?

  • Merged from Was This Email a Million Dollar Vax Scam?

I received an email yesterday stating that I had won a $1,000 gift card and that I needed to upload my identification documents and vaccine certificate to claim it. However, after I uploaded the documents, all that came up on the websitewas a 403 Forbidden message.

Is this Million Dollar Vax campaign a scam?

Has anyone else managed to get their hands on a gift card?

    • +1

Was the email legit or spam?
Who sent the email? (Actual address not the displayed address)
Did you register on the official page originally?

    • +1

Million Dollar Vax campaign is real. Whether the e-mail you got is legit or a phishing scam we can't know.

    • +1

I think is legit, but will steer clear of clicking links from "their" emails or SMS. It is such an easy trap for scammers.

If you can't go to their website directly and submit your vaccination certificate number, I won't proceed.

Hey jusoli, you won $1,500 from OzBargain! Please take photos of all your driver licences, passport, credit cards and birth documentation and take a hard look in the mirror and ask yourself this question: "will unsolicited emails ever try to trick me?"

Please PM these to the mods to claim the prize!

      • And don't forget your private crypto wallet keys!

        • But remember the promoter may require additional information from you.

Eg $100 transfer to their nigerian account to make sure your banking details are correct
Or maybe PIN number so they can check if you have enough funds left in your account after they have already switched your mobile number and reset your banking password.

      • Thanks for the link, I couldn't find this contact page at first.

    • After registering for the competition did anyone get some sort of confirmation email that you have entered?

    • +1

At the bottom of the page it link to the WINNERS.. Are you listed ?

      • +1

Good to see Neil, Scotty and Brendan are also winners.

        It's getting bloody ozbargained.

      • I'm not listed, which is why I'm a bit concerned.
Then again, the email states that I'm a provisional winner (provided that I upload the required documents to qualify I guess).

        • That probonoaustralia.com.au site that came up when you were entering your details all seems legit, it appears they're looking after the legal side of it…

Personally I'd go back through the link provided to enter your info, if it fails again get in touch with them…

    • I got the same email saying I'd won. I've uploaded my documents but haven't heard anything yet. The email says it takes 2 business days for the gift card to be emailed, that was 4 business days ago. Not sure if I've been scammed or not.

      • What browser did you use to upload the documents? I used Microsoft Edge and Chrome, both in regular and private tabs, and were not able to upload the documents.

        • +1

I used Chrome. I uploaded successfully and got an email saying they received the documents and to wait 2 business days.

          • @Sambuca: Enjoy your gift card mate, I'm still trying to get through the 403 error…

            • +1

@jusoli: I'll let you know if it ever arrives! Did you try turning off your adblocker? Just a thought

            • @jusoli: Finally got mine today! Let me know when you get yours and which retailers its letting you choose from.

              • @Sambuca: Good to know! I don't actually use any adblocker, I guess I have to go to a Library and use the computer there to see if it works.

              • @Sambuca: I still get the same 403 Forbidden error, what browser did you use? The customer support wasn't helpful also…

                • @jusoli: I used Chrome. I've got uBlock origin adblocker but can't remember if I had it on or off. Maybe try on another computer or maybe even on your phone? Or even Firefox?

Are the file types your trying upload correct?

                  • @Sambuca: I tried three different computers (one from the local library) and all the browsers that I could think of (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Opera etc.), the file types were correct (otherwise you get an error reminder).

I finally got it to work last night (my friend uploaded my documents for me using her iPhone). Interesting that when I consulted the customer support, "Please note: it is preferred that this is done via a computer or laptop, rather than a tablet or mobile device to ensure the file type is inspected prior to uploading."

Well, it worked on a phone.

Thanks for your help by the way!

  • I still find the whole thing shonky.

  • Why all the comments are turned off in their facebook, insta and youtube?

    Looks fishy.

    Has anyone even got anything?

  • Merged from Does This Website/Business Seem Legit?

I saw a news article online for a device called Needlecalm that aims to help those with a phobia of needles. When I went through to purchase some of them, the only payment option is via credit card on their webiste. https://needlecalm.com.au/ That seemed odd, so I tried purchasing through one of their online stockists but same thing, only credit card payments.

Looking at the two websites they suggested, BP Medical https://www.bpmedical.com.au/ and Team Medical https://www.teammed.com.au/, their websites at first glance looked very similar to the Needlecalm website. Further searching through the terms and conditions on the three pages shows that they all list the same bank account for EFT transfer and the same address, a PO Box.

I do heaps of ordering online and have never been caught out, but this seems odd. Am I reading too much into it, or is it dodgy? I would love to know the communities thoughts.

  • Merged from Real Tech or a Scam?

Someone asked me to check into this for them (old person) to me it looks like a total scam but just fishing for second opinions. (JIC)

    https://www.qsat.ai/qphone.html

    Cheers

    • A phone that is based on block-chain technology? Yeah nah.

    • The phones don't seem to exist yet, it might be best to just tell the oldie to sit on their hands and wait to see if this turns into something real or not, I suspect it wont…

The site contains so much info, it all seems to be ideas and possibilities, lots of trendy words designed to baffle everyone with techno-bullshit… I suspect they may be just trying to suck money out of investors and such…

It all seems to be based in slightly dodgy tax havens, the Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, and such…

  • Merged from https://squidgame-au.com/ has anyone purchased from this site?

Hi, 3 of us recently made purchases from this site, https://squidgame-au.com/ for Squid game guard uniforms for Halloween.
They have this "GUARANTEED DELIVERY BEFORE HALLOWEEN" and they were supposed to be delivered by now.

We have tried to contact them but have had no response, I think we may have wasted our money.
I just wanted to know whether any other Ozbargain members have purchased from them and had delivery yet?

The non-response has me concerned, and we all paid via CC as there was no PayPal option.

    Regards,
    David.

Looks like a fake scam site really.

Where are you located? We are located in the south of sydney.

Nobody says that. Also why not .com.au with valid ABN.

Edit: Yes it's fake. The most low effort Shopify site with errors everywhere, can't believe you got duped. You also got ripped off. It's generic cheap junk available elsewhere.

$23 for 4 masks not $39.90 for one. Probably cheaper from Aliexpress or similar.

Also i really gotta stop clicking random links….

I reckon you should contact your bank/charge back asap

      The mind boggles.

There's lots of things to suggest they're dodgy but the fact they're still advertising "GUARANTEED DELIVERY BEFORE HALLOWEEN" makes it certain IMO..

      🤦‍♂️

      • I know, I feel like a fool. Thanks for reminding me.

    • This website was clearly made to capitalise on the current squid game popularity- most scammy websites are like this.

File a chargeback with your CC provider, cancel the card so it can't be used by scammers and always use Paypal, especially if it's not a well known merchant ie. JB Hifi, Woolies etc.

      • Just a quick question, I haven't been scammed before.
I will do the chargeback with the CC but should I can my CC.
Wasn't sure if they can draw money out of it again.

  • Merged from Scam Alert? Kogan Club Ad - iPhone 13 Pro 256GB for $599 USD Delivered

I saw this add on facebook and it looks too good to be true, so suspecting a scam.
The website doesn't seem to have a home page either.
Wondering whether anyone has had any dealings with Kogan Club before?
The deal is an iPhone 13 pro 256gb for $599 USD delivered.

      Facebook ad…. (Facepalm)

    • +4

The address seems to indicate it's not Kogan, but samcart.com, otherwise it'd be xxxxx.kogan.com wouldn't it?

      • +3

        more like scamcart.com

    • +2

The website is samcart.com (it is like etsy, sellers can host their own store)

Kogan Club is NOT a thing (google it).

Also think about why a legit Australian business will accept payment in USD? You'll have no buyers rights or protection. No ABN either.

I'm quite confident it is a scam.

    • +3

Why would you buy from Kogan even if this was legit?

  • Merged from Do You Think Aussiepinshop.com.au Is a Legit Online Store?

I am looking at buying a bed. This shop is about $100 cheaper then anyone else. But there is just something off about the site. However, they have so many item on sale that it makes me wonder if it could be a real business done up on the cheap.

    Anyone ever tried them?

    • I have no idea whether the sight is legit or not but i just visited it then and it doesnt look done on the cheap at all, i have bought many things from websites that look much crapier than this site, it is also a https:\ which is a good sign for a legit site

      • +1

I was thinking the same thing, but the shipping thing that Savas below says (Queen bed frame for $8) seems to be way too good to be true.

        • +1

with further research i now think it is quite possibly a scam

    • +2

seems obvious scam. 75% bulky items with $8 shipping. Says they accept PayPal but then at the checkout it asks for bank transfer! avoid!
