Bose SoundSport Free Wireless In-Ear Headphones (Triple Black) $148 + Delivery ($0 to Selected Areas/ C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

170

I know past reviews haven't been all too great for these buds but not a bad price for them anyhow if you're looking for a decent pair of new earphones.

  • No ANC right?

  • i own these… great soundstage, bass heavy.
But they are big. They also lose charge in the charging case so you are constantly recharging. Micro USB also.
Better options elsewhere these days that include ANC. Id say get a Jabra 75t instead.

    • They also lose charge in the charging case

What's the point of the charging case then? Do they only charge in the case when the case itself is plugged in?

      • +1

The case discharges over a few days and eventually the earbuds turn on and discharge as well.

      • I've not really noticed this so much myself on the Bose buds, I seem to get a couple of recharges out of mine. The original Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless buds are far worse - the case for those seems to do nothing but drain the buds.

I probably never go a few days without the case recharged. With the Sennheisers though, I can't even seem to leave them in the case overnight without finding them discharged - they are truly terrible in that respect.

        • i upgraded to Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 and they fixed that discharging issue. Best set of earphones iv owned by far. But they are double the price of these Bose.

          • @minatosensei: Yeah. Very different sound between the Bose and Sennheiser. I would certainly say that the first Sennheisers are flatter clearer. The Bose are perhaps more 'crowd pleasing' in sound. Much change in sound with the 2nd version of the MTW?

I do still like the first version Sennheiser MTW's…I just leave the case plugged in. I notice that they run out of power much sooner than the Bose do though.

I didn't pay more than $100 for either the Sennheisers or the Bose. At under $100 they are both great sets of buds.

            • +1

@Banj0: i didnt own the v1 however the reviews state that the sound profile was maintained for v2. Better ANC, longer battery and the battery doesnt discharge while in the box.
Jb HI FI has it for $400, i got them for $450 early last year. I alternate between that and the Powerbeats that i got from this legendary deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/620725.
I prefer the powerbeats when running and walking as i can hear the surrounding area better and they dont fall out with the ear clips. But when at the gym or commuting il use the Sennheiser, with ANC on i dont hear a thing such as the weights banging down or ppl talking, with the Powerbeats you hear everything around you. But in terms of sound stage, Sennheiser is so much better although the Powerbeats have a different sound and are more bass heavy. If my Sennheiser were to kark it for whatever reason id buy another one in a heartbeat.

    • For the same price of the Bose Soundsport you can get a Jabra 75t which is a more current and updated set of earphones with a good soundstage, ANC, IP5 water rating and USB C
Add an extra $30 for the 75t Active and you get a better IP7 water rating.
Ive seen these go on sale quite a few times throughout the year so it can be had for cheaper.

  • I'm currently using these as we speak, and use them as my daily set for work; mostly Zoom meetings, phone calls and listening to music in between.

    Pros:
    * great sound fidelity, bass and midrange
    * great call quality, much better than airpod 2
    * easy to connect between devices
    * Snug fit and very comfortable, more comfortable than the Sony WF-1000XM3

    Cons:
    * large and a bit heavy
    * battery life is only 2.5 hours constant use
    * case discharges when connected to devices. But that's ok as it makes it quick to connect
    * Mini-USB is an annoyance

They also don't have ANC, which may be beneficial in the office.

Would I buy them again, yes, and $148 is a bargain.

  • If you do not already know, these are ancient tws earphones. The industry advanced a lot after these released, these should belong in museum.
