I just put my order through for this…… I completed the details clicked on the shopping cart, checked the price of shipping and then decided not to buy it. Went to close the window and a box popped up saying "don’t go we will give you free shipping"…..cool! So I get the book delivered for 1cent. You may want to try the same!

    When you are at the checkout page, where you enter your credit card and delviery details. Close this window and I got a pop up chat box where one of their staff chatted to me and gave me free shipping.

    I just closed the window again and got no pop-up. Maybe it is random. Maybe they recognised my return visit.

        My total was A$ 0.01. It is going to cost them more to process the 1 cent than giving it to me for free. I wonder if you will get a creidt for $9.90?

      OK, I musn't have been holding my tongue the right way the first four times I tried!!!
      "Chat" gave the new code of 31112, which when entered on the Check Out page (in place of 31319) gives an additional $4.95 discount ($4.50 shippng + GST) leaving $0.01 charged to Credit Card.
      I REALLY hope this isn't a scam to steal credit card details…………

    I just tried it and i think filled in all the details first (credit card etc) before I clicked close and the bot comes up and say enter 31112 in the code to get free postage, then i got an email to say i got for book for .01 & 0 postage…. so it worked!

      Finally received a reply from them about my A$-9.90 total. I was advised that my total is in fact $4.96. So no free post.

      Parts of the page are encrypted, parts aren't, and some browsers won't show the padlock unless all of the page is encrypted.

      As far as I can see, the only unencrypted resource it's calling is the Google Analytics script, so it should be safe - but I could be wrong.

    this is so weird
    my confirmation is $0.01, however, my CC was charged as $4.96
    now i said i want to cancel it, they told me, just wait till the product arrive and send it back, then we will refund you.
    that's ridiculous…

      I just checked my account, and they took $4.96 out too! The receipt I received in the email clearly states $0.01!

      I'll be calling them first thing Monday morning and demand for a refund. If they want me to send the item back, I would but only at their expense, otherwise I will be disputing the transaction with the credit card company as fraud.

      To others, make sure you check your credit card statement too.

    I thought it was funny that within the story they say…and in Australia the children have their names printed on the stocking hanging on the beds…..what great self promotion! The book is ok but I don't think I would have bought it. They have another where you can upload a photo but I don't think it would turn out that great.

    Major Scam and I will not be buying from Identity Direct ever again! Having checked my CC like most of you I saw the charge of 1c (just as on the invoice at the checkout and in the email sent later to me). However, 2 days later there is a charge of $4.96 on my CC. The postage cost was meant to be $4.95 originally not $4.96. I wrote and asked them about this and they said the code was for "special people" and was only to be used for either free post or for the item @ 1c. Hellllllllo when I went to the Identity website it said 1c per book for everyone so whats the special people deal? Free post obviously. I just am mad that they have added charges without my consent or without even telling me they have done it not 1 but 2 days after the purchase. They have told me to return the books for a refund but the principle of it is adding amounts to my CC without my knowledge/permission and that is where I do find them negligent. I don't know if all of you have checked your CCs again but please do as you too may find the added cost.

    I am sorry everyone has had such a hard time with this one. I just posted my experience when I went to order. They handled this very badly. Emails before printing would have been much more acceptable. Have any of you thought to email the ACCC?
