250

good price point for Lenovo with Ryzen 5-5500 CPU, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD, and cheap Acer for working from home or for kids' studying. prefer not to support HN anyway, anyone has any idea to get alternative options?

It is pointless to mention it. Businesses like HN got more profit coz many ordinary people received excessive/unnecessary jobkeeper payments and spent them somewhere, especially on leading businesses. It is a government scandal rather than a business'.

      • They shouldn't apply for jobkeeper when they don't need it, they should return in full with big profile.

No one could predict anything from the beginning of pandemic. Even now, who can?

Gerry wasnt too happy when he was shirt-fronted on radio about HN repaying it the other day. Had a sook and then just hung up on the host lol

Exactly, I don't mind he applied for jobkeeper as Neoika said no one could predict but the problem was how he response and behave.

  • this or previous deal lenovo legion 5?

    • depends on your use case, no?

      • purely looking at the specs

        • I'd say Lenovo Legion 5 then

        • +1

In terms of specs the Legion 5 is way better, with a much higher power H series CPU, a dedicated graphics card and a 120Hz screen.

  • Would the lenovo with R5-5500 run a program asking for 2gb graphics or am i hoping for too much from integrated graphics

    or even the R7-5700 model?

    • It would run it, though performance is would be impacted as its sharing the system ram and is also limited to the bandwidth of the ddr4 ram as opposed to having its own ram as on dedicated GPU's which have much faster bandwidth from the ddr6 etc. Im not sure what the APU's are in the 5500/5700 but i would assume the same condition above as its all limited by the bandwidth of the shared ddr4 system ram

In saying that, if the program was a game, most would run, albeit on low settings and with some noticeable performance issues like frame stuttering. unless its CS:Go. could run that game on a potato

      edit: mentioned dedicated gpu

      edit edit: mentioned a potato

      • The program is a 3d anatomy program and is suggesting 4gb of ram so hopefully with 16gb it would be ok.

Was leaning towards the R7-5700 16gb ram version because i can get it for not much more than this deal.

        • Id go the 5700 if you can afford it as its got vega 8 vs vega 7 in the 5500.

16gb is choice. Im with the opinion is that 8gb isnt all that future proof
