anyone has any first hand experience whether its worth the upgrade from aftershokz air?

If it helps had the airtrekz and now moved over to the aeropex mini (same as aeropex from my understanding).
      - Sound quality wise it is actually a step up, still not really a comparison in sound quality to any other non-bone conductive headphones (e.g. airpods). However you gotta ask yourself whether you care that much about the better sound quality when your mid exercise / running.
      - The sound bud part is smaller (oval) as opposed to the square and is smooth surface which is reassuring that water / sweat won't get into it and feels ligher.
      - Magnetic charging is cool, but if you lose the two charging cables that it comes with this would be an issue

Overall personally for me it was justifiable because of the 'mini', I wanted a shorter band so it didn't bounce when running. If you didn't have the AirTrekz already I'd say definitely invest in the Aeropex for the difference, but if you already have the AirTrekz then I find it hard to justify the value of paying full price to just get the enhancement in sound quality. Unless ofc you have an abundance in cash and/or feel the sound difference will provide greater utility / enjoyment to your exercise routine.

Oh also recommend you do a price beat with 99bikes - I did this for my mini via their online price match form and they responded in less than 24hrs and provided me with a 'unique code' to get the price beat via web - delivery was really quick too

      • thanks mate, really appreciate it!

  • How does it compare to these from bangood?

Aftershokz Openmove also available from Microsoft Ebay for $110 ($129 at other retailers).
Same sound, but slightly different band design, and lower IP rating.

    • Also USB-C charging for the Openmove instead of the proprietary cable for the Aeropex.

Pretty happy with mine. So happy in fact, I bought a second pair so I can have one pair for home and the other for work. Fantastic for all day zoom calls as you don't have them in or on your ears. Very comfortable. Battery life is good - I only charge once a week.

I concur. I use the Air's for Teams calls, which are very comfortable for wearing all day. With the bonus of maintaining a connection to your surroundings (if you want that!).

But of course, they're great for cycling, where you really do want to be aware of your surroundings. Not the best bass, but good enough to keep you going.

  • Love mine. Use them all the time for running and cycling

  • Just got back from a ride with these and see them pop up on my post exercise lying on the floor Ozbargain scrolling. Hate having things in my ears, especially that sort of pressure build up while exercising so these have been great. Sound drops off in wind or riding fast but they include ear buds (that I've never used) to counter this if it's a huge issue

Hope you dont mind but thought I would clarify. They include ear plugs, not buds. 😀

  • I find them great to use and comfortable. They do lack some sound quality compared to regullar headphone/buds, but love the fact I can hear traffic if out and conversations when wearing them.
Only gripe is the proprietary charger but it does assist with the IPX rating and mine came with 2 so that helps.

I have had mine for over two years and use them for MTB riding, excersise, arround the home and when I go for walks with the family. My daughter now 5 would take them off of me when she was 4 and would go in a stroller for our walks to use on with her tab, they became hers until she started walking with us.
Even my 12 year old steals them from time to time when ridding.
Pricey but definitely worth it in my opinion.

P.S As a person who sweats a lot, they are really light and do not get hot or uncomfortable when as my other over ear and buds.
