Amazon Prime Delivery Times - Covid Times

Sign of the times.

I ordered a new monitor from Amazon on the weekend, 'fulfilled by Amazon' so from their warehouse. It was 'dispatched' today with a note saying that the expected delivery will be in 3 weeks time. They must be under enormous pressure. Seems eBay is now quicker for deliveries, crazy times.

Note, I'm in Sydney.

    Australia post, not amazon.

    • I'm in southern Sydney and virtually every delivery comes from a private car. Only seem to get the international stuff from oz post.

      • That would probably be amazon Flex, although I have noticed Australia post workers using private cars last week, one complained that this wasn’t her normal job, but was just helping out because the local guy was 14 days behind on his deliveries.

the local guy was 14 days behind on his deliveries.

          Is he still in quarantine?

^^ As above, it used to be that Amazon parcels were delivered privately. The deliveries now seem to be by Aust Post, so we have their delays too.

I did enjoy those times when I would order something at 4pm and literally get it the next day (Amazon Prime).

I still get many things delivered by courier in Brisbane.

Not if they're using australia post…or it just doesn't reflect it.

  • This 3 weeks time esimtate - stated in Amazon dispatch email? Checking mine orders on 1sep, dispatched on 5 sep with 7 sep mentioned in that email as estimate but arrive today, 6 sep. I'm in Sydney West.

    • Yup. But oddly I ordered some groceries from them, delivered the next day. Very odd…

  • Shipped by Amazon taking forever to even ship the item. I'm no longer Prime but 4 days to ship from your warehouse WTH?

Also has something happened with their support staff? Have been getting ppl lately who were poorly trained.

I have an order from Puma, using Couriers Please that is 2 weeks late and the message says up to 4 weeks.
I received a Couriers Please delivered ebay item shipped August 12 today.

International seems less impacted for Auspost, and I received parcels from China and Europe in 2-3 weeks.
    So it isn’t just Amazon/Auspost.

    • Or to put it another way, if the sorting centre your item needs to pass through has had COVID cases and many staff in isolation/quarantine, there will be long delays.

I am receiving items from Amazon a week earlier than estimated times at the moment.. I think they are currently over-estimating just to be safe with the AusPost workload..

Had an item delivered today that was stated for the 15!!

    Let's not jump to conclusions.

In the past I have seen items delivered by Amazon AU which took 2-3 weeks just because they were actually imported from the US. Yes, it was a weird case (usually items like that are sold by Amazon US) but still.

Keep checking detailed tracking in the Amazon website or in a package tracker app.

  • anything thats fulfilled by amazon but is in another state tends to be done by aus post
take takes a week or 2
anything thats amazon but local (like in moorebank) is a bit slow, prolly 3-5 days now, before next day or two

COVID, its impacting drivers and everyone

  • I'd gladly take all the shipping delays if they come with Free shop coupons/voucher. Already Got 2 vouchers from eBay seller not posting an ebay plus item within 3 days (even though i got the item within the estimated delivery date). Dont really shop with amazon due to not having prime, but yeah they offered me discount of my next purchase when my item was delayed.

    • I'm not thinking that way personally, it's COVID, I'm not going to squeeze freebies from any seller, even Amazon :)

I will hand in my Ozbargain card on the way out…

I do Amazon Flex deliveries. Only on weekends and RDO's as I'm bored and have nothing else to do. There's not enough drivers and yet orders are increasing every week. Order ETA's have gone from next 2 days, to a week, to now 3 weeks. Not much you can do. That's what happens when people are locked in at home with nothing else to spend their money on!

Yep it’s a f-ing joke. It will call down once the recession hits and people start losing their jobs.

I currently have an Amazon Prime order in the pipeline. It's not due until the 21 Sep but was despatched yesterday by Couriers Please. I expect it will be delivered by Thursday. Amazon seem to be under promising and delivering early. The previous Prime order was the same and also by CP. No complaints that way. Hard to know before the event, where Amazon despatch from but most of my stuff seems to come from Dandenong VIC and I'm on the Mornington Peninsula.
    edit
Just checked the tracker and this one's from Moorebank in Sydney. Be interesting to see how soon it gets here.

    • Just got a note in the Inbox that my Prime order, scheduled for the 21 Sep, is "onboard for delivery" and will be arriving today. As I suggested above, under promise and over deliver. Great stuff but I wish they would stop using Couriers Please. I just realised it's Thursday. In my post above I guessed that my delivery would be today.

  • I ordered stuff on Saturday and it arrived around noon on Monday delivered by Amazon Flex. I'm in Sydney though. Where you're located and which warehouse the goods are located will probably play into it.

  • I ordered some shoes and some fish tape (said eta was 2 weeks) at 11.50pm Monday night but at all arrived the next day in the morning.. quite impressed really.

  • Everything that made Amazon attractive is no-longer there (for now).

Postage times are absolutely disgusting, so I just buy locally from now on, cannot be bothered waiting 3-weeks for toilet paper.

    • The chat staff indicated they have a massive backlog and everything is expected to be delayed until further notice…

The next day or 2 day deliveries were good while they lasted, back to finding the cheapest Item online I guess.

  • Placed an order on the 9th. It's now after COB on the 14th, and it still hasn't even been shipped. I used to get stuff within 1 or 2 days, even as recently as a month ago.

After looking up their 2 day delivery policy, the fine print says it's just a 'guide' and the actual delivery time will be shown at checkout - for me that's Monday the 20th.

  • ebay is no better they just don't bother updating the real delivery time frames on their website.
