  I bought one of these last time and the jaws don't open up all that far - I JUST managed to get them wide enough to clip onto the dash of the 2016 Mondeo, but after a few weeks of them slipping off they just snapped and that was that. Apart from that, good system.

  I've used clamps before to hold my phone. Do not recommend as you need to use both hands to open and place the phone. The steel coil also puts a lot of pressure on the phone. Other phone holders are more friendly to your phone and only require one hand to operate.

  Right in the field of view good for Navigator, only of it does not block the view, I might try this out.
  The only problem I can see it does not tilt down so one can set it on a different angle.

    I have one. Very pleased with it.
    As for angle you can adjust the tilt angle of phone as it sits in the jaws (mine has multiple indents on lower part so can get good angle of screen).
