This can give you 6 months (including referral credit) if you don't need much data. Switch to $15 plan from 2nd month. Just in time for this deal as well: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648633.

    • Are the $15 plans still a thing? I thought they removed them?

I was planning to just have her switch providers for a month.

      • +5

The $10 plan was grandfathered. This $15 plan is only available to existing customers, that's why you can move to after 1st month.

        • So this $80 will last 3 months based on 3 x $25 plan. Is there a more efficient way of spending it to make it last even longer?
Asking as comments above seem to suggest $10 and $15 plan is now not available.

          • @concento: $10 is not… $15 still available. But not on the first actuvation i believe. U can switch to the $15 on your second month.

            • @Tems: So month 1 = $25, $55 remains.
              Month 2, 3, 4 = $15, $10 remains.
Assuming you get a $20 referral credit by entering someone's referral code when signing up, you might get another 2 month out of it for a total of 6 months.
              Have I got this right?

              • +4

                @concento: $80 + $20 referral = $100
Then activate the 1st month with $25 plan, the rest $75 credit just enough for 5 months of $15 plan.

                • @hawkeye93: Cool, so when does the plan switch need to happen? Literally the day before the new period starts? Or on the 1st day of the new period?

                  • +1

@concento: It will state the date of next recharge so anytime before that should be fine.

                  • @concento: Switch the plan as soon as you can, so that you won't forget (and got charged for the higher $$ plan).
You can even switch immediately and it will only take effect in the next billing cycle.

        • Woolies Mobile still have $10/mth plan, instore purchase only. Many EDR accounts recently got the SP offer for $5 in the APP. With frequent zero cost $40 42GB SP after cashback deal and half amount data 21GB gifting enabled, Woolies Mobile seems better than Belong now, not to say 10% off shop once/mth.

          • @Neoika: So you purchase that $10 starter pack in the SIM card section of the store?

            • @hawkeye93: 80% of my 10+ EDR accounts received the $5 APP only offer. I did not search instore, but a quick search here tells you it is still available instore only.

              • @Neoika: Ah yeah, just saw it in the EDR app. So $5 1st month and $10 ongoing, with that 10% off once a month shopping as well.

    • Ooooo, might be able to get two more with the vaccine deal

  • Anybody knows whether this $80 sim pack can be topped up to existing account?

    • +3

Starter kits are for Port-in or New customer. So I guess big NO!

    • +1

      No, it's a starter pack.

      • Just port out after you've used the credit and then port back in

    • +1

Just port out and port back in.

    • +3

No, I've previously tried with this points redeemed pack on existing belong service, they said no.

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know that you want to activate the replacement sim.

Looking into the sim card number provided by you 8210014******N is an $80 credit sim.

Please be informed, we cannot activate the replacement for the $80 sim. If you want kindly activate the new services so that you will receive the credit.

      • Thanks mate,

2 years ago when I joined Belong NBN, I received the free $80 sim and it was so easy I could top up $80 credit into my account. I guessed no now cause we have to ask the staff to top up credit.

  • Is there an expiry on these if we purchase multiple?

    • The normal starter packs are 12 months from the purchase date to activate. Not sure about these, most likely the same.

      • +1

Fwiw, I've activated an $80 SIM credit a few months after expiry and it still had the credit. Belongs systems aren't the best so I guess that worked in my favour haha. But I wouldn't risk it again.

    • I have ordered these kits before, on it, it says credit expires 12 months after purchase.

Not sure how strict they enforce this rule.

  • +2

Ah poop blew my points on other crap

  • I have used up all my email accounts as Belong keeps the account alive even when sim has been cancelled. But I think I should be able to use it under an email account which has not been used in a while.

    • +3

Use a . In your gmail address, you’ll get plenty of aliases.

  • +2

To think I spent 10k points on this a few weeks ago!

    • Me too…. But have more points to spend on this 😛

    • Ouch, what's the expiry dates on the packs?

      • +1

I thinl they get expired 12 months from purchase or something similar. Spoke to the belong rep but they were not very clear but did say that wont expire sooner than 12 months.

  • +1

Can someone explain belong network. How does it compare to Woolworths and boost? Does it have wifi calling?

    Thanks

    • +7

      Not as good as Boost.
      Terrible customer service.
Smallest issues takes at least 1 day to be answered by email. They don't have call support.
I wouldn't switch to belong even if it was free.

      • +2

        No voicemail grrrr

      • +1

They do. Outsource however. I was guided step by step on phonecall to reset my nbn just last week. And they responded pretty fast upon me sending service request.

      • +2

        Terrible customer service.

Ever tried contacting Telstra to sort something out? I had to lodge 2 complaints with the TIO before they stopped overcharging me.

At least Belong get back to you.

  • +2

damn it, got heaps at 10,000 pts :((((

    • +1

I had got 1 (depressed about it) but was just about to buy one more in a week or 2… So i guess this is still good timing for me 😄

    • +1

      Rest In Peace mate

  • +2

Thanks OP. Time to top up data for free with fee referral bonus.

  • +5

just warning read few at whirlpool that belong cancel your number if you refer to yourself (to get multiple $20s)

    • +1

Must be a new thing.. did multiple times in the past with no problems, twice with the same number. (6 months ago)

      • +4

but not worth the risk, the case was there were no warning. one day puff your number gone. belong said you breach their t&c. bad luck. i guess make new number and then transfer data is okay without self-referring

        • +1

Definitely not for your main number.

      • Must be a new thing

It's been there in the Customer Terms for a long time. Lots of people have got away with it, I guess those accounts were never reviewed.

        • +1

Sounds like I dodged a bullet there.

I remember I even enquired about one of the referrals, and they said "looks like you've referred yourself at that date and your $20 referral credit will appear on your next bill"

    • I self referred all 10 times

    • Why do they cancel instead of just not giving the referral credit (as it is deemed invalid)? Do they even have the right to do that? How would you be able to get that number back if you really need that number?

      • System probably cant decline so it may be manual audit or god know what.
Yes you breach they found out they can.
Nope the number gone. For ever ever .

So maybe just use other referral, you get 20 not 40 maybe this is okay

        • +1

Wow they could just not issue you the $20 instead of cancelling your number. I don't know if this is even legal to do so…

I just looked this up here:
          https://www.acma.gov.au/reclaim-your-phone-number-telco

Apparently they have to hold it for 6 months, so it is still not gone forever?

  • +1

huh cannot add 2 in one cart?

    • Just buy them in seperate orders, that's what I did

  • +1

    Bought two. Thanks op

  • +1

Thanks so much op! I have 3000 points and just managed to order one. My catch plan expires in October, so hopefully with this plan I can a few months free. Btw do we still get referral money? Great deal

    • what is this referral money? :)

      • +1

You used to be able to get $20 when entering someone else's referral code ($20 for you and $20 for referrer)

      • +1

        $20 referral credit.

  • Is Belong coverage same as Boost?

    • No, the same as Woolies mobile I believe.

  • can yiu earn telstra point as a Belong customer?

    • No.

  • Good timing. i used most of my points to get S21 deal on Telstra day. left overs used to grab this.

  • +2

I'm currently with them for my personal phone just to keep a number for after-hours. $10/mth good deal to keep my number.
Coverage isn't as good as Telstra in regional areas
I'll second that their customer service is crap.
No call forwarding even though their website says so
    No voicemail.

  • +1

I paid $10 in April and I still haven't needed to recharge thanks to ozbargain.

  • +1

    This is AMAZING value!!!

  • +4

Make sure you double check the final screen. I noticed that it changed from 2000 points to 10000 points in the final screen.

So I logged out and back in and was able to check out at 2000 points. Looks like a caching issue. Do a final check at the final confirmation to save headaches. I'm sure you can get your points back if you complain to support, but that's time you don't need to spend if you just check closely at the final screen. :D

  • +1

    thanks great deal

  • +1

anyone can confirm, the referral code for belong mobile and nbn are the same?

    • +1

I found out previously from belong that they are separate and theres been comments made about this in previous belong threads ie referral codes for nbn dont work for mobile and vice versa

      • +1

I think the same. This is from my nbn page

Introduce a friend to Belong mobile or Belong broadband and you'll both get a $20 credit once your friend joins. You can introduce up to 10 friends for each service (mobile or broadband) - that's up to $400 of credits for you and up to $400 of credits for your friends!

ANd my code are the same

        • +1

and I think Belong changed the scheme so that referrers only gets the credit if/when the person they referred recharges (unless this was always the case) - that has stopped me from getting a few referral credits from sim hops

    • +1

Yes they are, as I have a mobile and broadband service under the same account.

  • +1

is anyone know this one can use as recharge sim? i currently with belong now, if i swap sim card, is the 80 will add to my credit?

    • +1

      above comments suggest no

    • So someone gives you something valued at $40 (usually half priced sim packs) plus $20 referral credit and you give that person $20 referral credit.

      Sounds totally fair to me.

  • +2

Referral for mobile and nbn are the same.

    Hi xxxx
    Thank you for your email!
As per your query, The referral code will be the same for both mobile and broadband.
It was a pleasure assisting you with your query.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Bought

  • +1

I assume this won’t work for a future telstra and jb hifi gift card port in?
    Being telstra to telstra?

    • +1

or you can just port to Optus Flex $1 first.

      • +1

        30 day port out first?

  • Belong used to be a pain if you wanted to cancel the service. Their automatic recharge day cycle is the same every month regardless of when you signed. They take money off your card and if you try and cancel they threaten you with debt collectors

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

I just placed an order and free delivery offer is still available.

    • Cheers, noted in post

  • +1

Does anyone know if you can choose a different shipping address for the Sim to be shipped other than the account's address?

    • +2

Yes, you can add manually shipping address. Select option → use different address in checkout.

      • +1

That's great! Thank you for letting me know.

      • Just a warning, you are not able to change the name on the address. I did this and the courier asked for ID for the person on the address, but I was able to show a photo of the person's drivers licence.

    • See my comment above

  • +2

Fast delivery. Received my order 10 mins ago!!

  • +3

    Just received mine as well.

The credit expires after 12 month from date of purchase according to the back of the pack.

  • I have 26K+ Telstra reward points

So I can have 13 pack of these and port in and out every time it use up? That is over four years free for my backup line….. not bad, but the sim pack will likely expire after the first year.

Any suggestion to use 26K Telstra points?

    • just buy 2 pack first, then wait until next year when it's on sale again.

    • Buy it & sell it on… GT or MP
