How does a boneless lamb walk around to eat and get big?

    • +6

Lambs don't get to get big

      • -8

How mindphukt must you be to pay to have a baby lamb killed?

        • +4

          baby lamb

More mindphukt by that phrase :)

    • It's caged? šŸ˜¬

      • just saying i don't think it's easy to move without bones

        • Slug?

          • @SF3: Then you're buying a slug, not a lamb.

Any reviews on the snakes compared to say Allenā€™s or TNCC? Do they taste like the typical cheap lollies or are they decent?

I guess at 99c they are worth a go, the toddler who gets a snake for every #2 on the toilet will probably eat them anyway!

    • +2

the toddler who gets a snake for every #2 on the toilet

You're teaching them wrong. It's supposed to go in
Unless this is all part of the master plan

      • Haha thankfully the lid is always up and those great big holes in the top allow it to drop in!

    • +1

Allens are pretty crap nowadays, natural co. much better.

Haven't tried aldi yet, hopefully better than allens

Forresters Roasted & Salted Peanuts is not that good. Bought 2 packs couple weeks ago. Struggled to finish the first one, has a weird taste to it.
And i love my peanuts, peanut butter etc, just not this. meh.

    • Agreed

    • Good to know @metalhead and @shinkudo. I was thinking of getting some, but probably won't now!

  • Aldi nuts are the cheapest around town. Always bought from them.

  • How can they sell a whole
    Chook so cheap??

    • Probably excess stock being diverted from elsewhere.

    • +1

      Reasons:

      • it's per kg

      • water injected

      • +1

I eat a lot of chicken & Aldi has hardly any water compared to Steggles.

        • Even on the Woolworths site, it lists the ingredients as 90 percent chicken, 10 percent water and salts lmao

  • +9

Not sure how i feel about chickens being this cheap, like everyone i love a good bargain but sometimes I feel like i need to draw the line if not for the farmers then for the livelihood of these chickens.

    • +4

The cruelest part is when they're killed. Besides that, even the "RSPCA approved" standards are a joke, allowing for 28-34kg of living chickens per square metre. Though the difference in cost is probably down to Aldi running the deal at a loss.

Let's say we all do the right thing and stop buying them, then they would not even exist.

  • Is aldi chicken halal??

    • -7

Chicken is Chicken, what difference does it make?

      • +1

Makes a difference to me. :)

      • -2

        Sky daddy says no.

Basically the difference is throat cut with a knife vs instant bolt to the head(for larger animals) and saying a prayer over it.

They can say a prayer over it any time tho

        • At the time of slaughter it must be said ā€œin the name of Godā€ as the whole point is for the intention behind slaughter to be thankfulness to God who allowed the sacrifice of one of His creationā€¦ so nah canā€™t just say Bismillah later as Pauline Hanson has suggested

      • -2

        Chicken is Chicken, agreed

      • Ignorant little person aren't you? Obviously it's because of religion it makes a difference to them.

        • And religion has cause more harm throughout history than anything else

    • All super market chicken in Australia is halal.

I love these nut bars from Aldi. They have very little sugar in them (the one that has the 4.5 health star rating) and 5 bars for $3 is a bargain.

    • +1

Ooooh - they look good. Thanks for the tip!!

      • +1

Really good. The only nut bars I buy these days.

  • -2

$2.99 per kilo + that's just wrong. Must be cage chicken chock full of hormones and antibiotics…

    • I always ask for extra hormones with mine.

    • +6

Chickens produced in Australia do not contain added hormones.
Ever heard of selective breading and scientific feeding?

      • +1

Ever heard of selective breading and scientific feeding?

Did they select a good egg or good chicken?

      • I have. Still - when you buy this cheap something will ha e to give…

    • +5

I started eating Aldi chicken and now my boners are raging hard and I never get sick šŸ’Ŗ

      • +2

Boneless lamb should even things out

      • Do you use the top entrance or the bottom one?

  • +1

Cheers WatchNerd, looks like ALDI is rivalling Costco's chickens. Also, those are some cheap nuts!

  • Wonā€™t buy their chicken. Been putrid twice Iā€™ve bought it.

    • Agree, compared to the other supermarket sold Chicken, Aldi ones go off just in a day or 2 despite their longer expiry date. Has happened quite a few times.

      • Depends on the supplier. Ones packed by Steggles (EST 2060) are my faves. Size is good too (1.4-1.7kg). For $2.99 a kg can't go wrong.

      • I think thereā€™s something wrong with the packaging or handling for off chicken to be sold. I bought it the same day and the smell when I unwrapped it was too much.

  • +1

How about the chicken nuggets, Are they good ? $5 a kilo

    • Really?. I'm going to get some then.

  • Just personal experience, but the "Dominion Naturals" range of lollies are not only pretty average tasting, they gave me diarrhea like I'd eaten an entire large bag of the sugar-free type lollies that are Maltilol based.

    Never touching them again.
