New PC Build. Have GPU and Monitor (Budget $1500)

Hi all, looking to set up a PC build for myself. Would place budget about $1500 but happy to spend more or less if required..

Have pulled the trigger recently on 6600xt and Dell S2721DGF.

Will mainly just be using for light gaming, streaming. Haven't owned a decent PC since CS 1.6 was the benchmark pretty much lol.

After watching some videos I am thinking Ryzen 5600x would be sufficient.

Am open to all builds and ideas!!

    5600x +b550 + 16gb of 3600 ram + 1tb nvme + case of choice + 650-850 gold psu + best value per tb hard disk for storage maybe a wd 8tb red

    • This!
I have the same specs (GTX1080) and pretty happy with it. Just need a GPU when they're not overpriced as they are atm.
      Cheers

    • is there any deals on 5600x below $399 ?

Built the following recently for a friend

      CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 347.65
Mobo Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AX DDR4 Motherboard 180.89
      SSD Kingston A2000 1TB M.2 NVME SSD 159
      PSU Corsair RM750x 80+ Gold (CP-9020179-AU) 150.27
      RAM Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 4400MHz 140
Case Lian Li LANCOOL II MESH Performance Black 139
Video Gigabyte GTX 960 WindForce 2X CN 130
      Cooler ID-COOLING Sweden Series SE-224-XT 26

      Total $1273

Overpaid a little on the A2000 SSD, but that was the cheapest price at the time.
All new except for the GTX 960 which was second hand from gumtree (they do not play games).

If you don't mind paying a bit extra for a mini ITX motherboard, I think the Coolermaster NR200 is a great little case. Otherwise I like the Corsair 4000D Airflow.

  • I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality parts I may get more longevity or use out of also. I'm quite out of the loop these days tbh !

I just don't need to go overboard with like a 3090 or anything beyond my requirements too much imo

Just link your build/considered items and we'll review :)

      • Haha just replied at the Same time below with a 5600x bundle posted here fee days ago.

Ps thanks everyone so far with all the help!!

Seems a good deal with current prices being $400+ alone or over kill?

You don't need an AIO. Air cooling will be sufficient.

IMO, unless you plan on some big overclocking adventures stick to air cooling. Very little can go wrong with a big lump of metal, if a fan dies you replace it. But with a pump system there's a lot more points of failure and doesn't really deliver much cooling benefit.

      It does look awesome though.

There's a few guides around on picking a good motherboard and powersupply. They're not perfect, but it will help you get an idea of the pros and cons of some different models if you're totally lost on what to get.

What garetz has recommended is good.

NR400 or NR600 are decent cheap and cheerful cases with good airflow.

Crucial Ballastix ram is highly recommended. Try to get at least 16gb with at least 3200mhz.

Avoid gigabyte power supplies like the plague - serious quality issues with exploding PSUs. Corsair 750x for $169 from amazon is decent value.

  • Thanks for the detailed replies I think I'm pretty locked in with most of the parts mentioned here now just to keep an eye on good deals on here 👀

Have picked up a ryzen 5600x and the b550 tomahawk from recent deals on here as well as 32gb g skill aegis ram and a 1tb Kingston nvme. Unsure if all are the best compatibility or if I should look at swapping some out or upgrading.

Just need to sort a case, psu and some more storage . Have been thinking of the 4000x or 4000d airflow unsure of best gold modular psu to go with.

I too picked up that cpu and mobo combo and I believe they are well paired. The mobo bios can be upgraded too without the need of another cpu which is a bonus. I also picked up the MSI A750GF PSU in the recent deal. I just need RAM and a GPU. What are you doing for a GPU?
As for the case, the 4000D is a great choice, im also looking at the Phanteks P400a RGB mesh. Another option to check out.

Edit. Did you get 3200 or 3600MHZ RAM??

      • Lol we got the same PSU from here also hahaha.

I managed to snag a 6600xt for retail which I will probably start with until/if I am able to get a good deal on something more high end.

Damn that case is quite nice I quite like that too!
