Stacking Fuel 4c Offers for Shell, Ampol/Caltex and Woolworths

Just wondering what everyone else is doing for their usual weekly fuel run.

CALTEX WW: In the past I used the 5% egiftcards for Woolworths with the 4c off. This can only be done at Caltex Woolworths outlets.

SHELL COLES EXPRESS: Then there is the 4c off Shell from Coles + 4c off from Carsales app. Using HSBC or other 2% off offers this can also be quite ok.

CALTEX / AMPOL: Now there's the 6% Ampol gift cards (via shopback app) which can be used with the 4c off myToyota for Caltex branded outlets. Some of these Caltex outlets have 4c off at the front which presumably allows you to get another 4c off as well but when I've tried to do this, they only scanned the card to give reward points. Not sure why?

  In lockdown so it's more like every two months… A bit annoying as I've got a work car which covers fuel. First world problems.

  Previously, I was doing caltex/ampol woolies discount with egift cards.

  6% off United with RACT membership and Coles CC for flybuys - 2 points per $1. That's how I used to do it.

      Oshit yes I do. They used to do 12% out of hours at some places.

  I only buy fuel at Caltex Woolworths fuel stations, paying with discounted WISH eGift cards or the Everyday Rewards balance, plus 4c/L supermarket discounts.

  There isn’t really a lot of difference in price between fuel stations in the ACT and there are no price cycles, so fuel discount vouchers and discounted gift cards are a better way eeking out savings.

  I do something similar:

  1) Ampol - 5% gift card via Group Advantage + 4c/L off via myToyota. Usually works out cheapest for me.
  2) 7-11 Fuel price lock (no further discount, other than a free $1 coffee every 7 visits). Most convenient
  3) Woolworths Petrol - 3% gift card (where do you get 5%? nowadays) + 4c/L off via Woolworths shopping

    • NSW Seniors Card holders still get 5% off WISH eGift cards.

    • Redeem Your Gift Card sells them for a 5% discount, but they also charge an unavoidable $1 processing fee for each gift card… the highest denomination gift card is $500, so the maximum actual discount on Caltex Woolworths gift cards is 4.8%.
