Hisense A7G - Recommend or avoid?

Looking for a new TV to upgrade my 8 year old 32" Hisense. It will be used in a lounge room so was looking at the 50/55" Hisense A7G model.

Does anyone have any feedback on this model please or an alternative TV you'd recommend over the Hisense for under $1000?

They are a good all-rounder. Decent picture, 3-year warranty. The only drawback I would say with Hisense is that their selection of streaming apps is not as large as other brands. An easy fix would be to plug a streaming device (Chromecast, firestick, apple tv, etc).

Thanks for your feedback, that was one of my main drawbacks with the lack of apps but thought I could just use the chrome cast.

But was also considering TCL as an option as they have almost all of the apps through Google Play but reviews seems hit and miss.

Usually a big fan of Hisense - good bang for buck.

Old man just picked up a X7 something and it's pretty average! :(

    Can't remember if it's a U7G, A7G or it could have been a 4G (but I think it was a 4k so not 4G).

Take a good look in-store and if you can, ask for the remote and flick through a few channels and adjust the colours yourself. If you're happy with this, then swipe that card!

    • Thanks for your feedback.

Oh that's a shame, not sure I've seen the X7 model, is it new?

That's a good idea having a look through the channels in-store, I might go give that a try.

      Many thoughts on TCL?

      • Whatever it is he has, he picked it up just last month. So it's a new model I believe.

TCL - ok, but prefer Hisense out of the two.

  • I recently won 65A7G from the good guys and have been using it since then. Here are my two cents on the TV

It's a very nice-looking thin bezel lightweight TV. The build is plastic, and you will feel it. The screen is matte, but still, light reflection hampers a good view. It has 4K HDR, Dolby Vision which is very nice at this price range, but the HDR is not SONY like. Blacks do sometimes look grayish.

It only has 3 HDMI ports ( no 120Hz), USB will only read NTFS and FAT32 ( can't read exFAT).

The smart app library is pretty good except for no DISNEY+.

I found a bit annoying is if you have a Soundbar connected through ARC port and you have Apple TV in another, there are some delays in the Input swap, and sometimes the soundbar doesn't work.

Suppose you are looking to get a Smart tv around $1000, it's a good choice. But don't expect SONY-like performance.

    I hope it helps.
