But a pack of 24 costs $1.7x at Woolies (homebrand)

      These are liquid capsules

      • Wow! It's amazing what science can do these days.

        • LOL

  • use smspup service so the cost would be zero

    • Part of the terms are you can't use internet based SMS services (see below). But 55 cents…not going to break the bank :)

      TERMS
      1. SMS submissions must be submitted from the Purchaser’s own mobile phone. SMS submissions sent via
the Internet are not valid and will not be accepted.

    This seems weird.

    • It looks like this is a premium SMS, so it is like those premium phone calls, i.e. you are paying for the product by making an "expensive" phone call, I assume the promoter would get the majority of the call cost and that pays for the product. That's why free SMS or internet services would be excluded, they wouldn't get paid otherwise.

      • But would that be 55c in network provider's monopoly money? If so then the actual cost would be lower. What am I missing?

        • +1

Premium SMS is billed directly, it's not part of your phone plan's allowance.

        • K, that figures. So no use txting from my prepaid account.

        • some providers will allow you to use a little bit of your prepaid allowance for premium sms

        • How else can you be charged of you're on pre-paid? You can't be billed any other way.

  • .

  • seems dodgey sms-ing to 199 52 400 number

with your details name and address

so its a premium number the 199 numbers?

    • yep… u got to pay for it… not included in your cap allowance.

This is not directly related to this post, but if you're after cheap ibuprofen, Chemist Warehouse sells a brand called RAFEN - a box of 50 for $2.99 or thereabouts. They're not liquid though.

Yeah, this is just liquid Ibuprofen. You can buy generic non-liquid Ibuprofen all over the place, including Aldi.

      • Chemist warehouse is cheaper than the aldi one though. From memory, Aldi has 12 or maybe 24 in the pack for $2.49, so youo get at least twice as many in the pack for very little more cost.

  • this deal is anti-ozbargain

  • To summarise:

    1. They are not free, they are 55c - the cost of the PREMIUM SMS(the company could have gone for free SMS, but chose not to)
    2. 55c for 6 = 9.17c each
    3. A pack of 24 home brand (and not "liquid capsules", but performing exactly the same function - similarly to "Monster cables" vs. cheaper) is $1.70 or 7.1c each.

    No bargain.

    • To be fair you can't compare standard tablets to liquid capsules. It's not just the brand name that you're paying extra for, it's the fact that the solubilized ibuprofen is absorbed faster and therefore offers a quickly form of pain relief.

      • Do you also believe that nurofen for back pain is any different to nurofen for period pain or nurofen for migraine? Don't believe the hype, if there is any difference between liquid vs solid tablets it's negligible at best.

      • Yes, you're right. I had totally failed to consider that the liquid capsules make this product amazingly super-duper, and the must-see painkiller this summer. Does it also have enzymes? Is it dolphin friendly? Maybe it absorbs faster due to the patented fast action "molecular side-step" formula?

Alternatively, the marketing department has done its job well.

Can't help myself (4th year Pharmacy student)

    • Yeah, a pharmacist friend was furious when Ibuprofen stopped being a pharmacy only product and was made available in supermarkets.

      • Some of us are annoyed that things like this are put on supermarket shelves, while it's becoming almost impossible to get decent painkillers (containing codeine).

Come on feds, we're not all drug addicts.

Go for it. :) It's certainly not something to be taken lightly. I'm sure there are many who are not aware of the risks associated with it.
