Which one's the best? All of them sound pretty decent.

    • +7

I tried and liked their buttermilk battered fried chiggen. Its like really well done battered fried chiggen and is different to KFCs in that it isnt soggy or oily like KFCs.

      • Haven't yet tried RR's fried chiggen, only KFC's. And yeah, KFC's oily and soggy chiggen is something I try to avoid.

        • Usually depends on the site, and the young kids care factor prepping it.

        • friggen awesome crispy chiggen

      • I agree, 2nd time i had the chicken and highly rate it over the KFC fried chicken.

    • +5

Prefer the fried chicken. Its cooked perfectly but a little bland seasoning-wise. Add a sauce though and you have some quality fried chicken.

      • I find it varies hugely between stores. The one near home makes them too salty and the one near work is too bland.

  • +1

    Is it free delivery?

    • +1

It wouldn’t let me check when I posted (probably not yet dinner time). I’ve just now been able to add 3 boxed meals to my shopping cart and there’s no delivery fee added for me.

      • +1

Yes it's free delivery. But minimum spend is $25. RR make up for it with a slight price increase across the board on their delivery menu

        • I guess they want you to buy other items and not just the boxes 📦

  • +10

    Original price from pick-up:

    3 piece Satisfryer - $13.95
    Reds Burger Box - $12.95
    BBQ Burger box - $13.95
    Rooster Roll box - $12.95
    Rippa Box - $13.95

Delivery price is normally included in the price - faq.

    E.g.
    2pc fried combo [delivered] - $13.95
    2pc fried combo [pick-up] - $12.70

    Conclusion:

It's worth it if you're gonna get take out anyway, might as well get it delivered for even cheaper than if you picked it up.

We are giving the 3 piece Satisfryer a go tonight. Managed to add this to the order also:

Two Free Pieces of Crunchy Fried Chicken with Any Delivery Order (Min $25 Spend) @ Red Rooster via App/Website

Edit: Free delivery for min $25 spend. Looks like they use DoorDash Drive for the deliveries… Are we meant to tip them?

    • I wouldn’t think so?

      • +2

They just left it at the door, set the message/tracker to delivered and are gone… Love this Covidsafe delivery process

      • +2

It works! Just add the promo code FC2PFF to your order.

    • +5

People tipping delivery people now? What for? If doer dash aren’t paying them enough they need to take it up with door dash, this ain’t America …

      • I make a pile of coins totaling about $2.50 and if the delivery guy is late I slowly start taking coins off the pile and they get whats left when they finally arrive.

  • Why do they mostly only do delivery discounts?

    • I guess in-store is a captive market? Delivery is not.

It’s like at the winery wine is more expensive than the bottle shop as it’s a captive market.

      • Can I swap the can away ?

        • You can upsize to a 600Ml drink for an extra $1.00. Water is not an option.

    • Maybe to get their delivery drivers busy. They used to do delivery themselves I'm not sure if that's still the way.

  • +1

Got it for dinner tonight. Thank you.

  • +1

"Closest store temporarily unavailable" - bummer.

  • +1

So I have to buy 2.5 meal boxes to make the deal worth it?

    • +1

You can buy 2x boxes and a couple of extra random sides.

Not a great deal if you’re single.

  • Seems to be free delivery.

    • +2

      always free delivery >$25

      • +1

Good to know. Beats $9 delivery fee with the dirty bird KFC.

        • If it's through like menulog etc, then it's possibly a fee. Directly through the website, never have seen a fee.

  • +2

Cant say last time I had Rooter I was impressed…

That being said, ive wanted to try the Fried Chicken and for $30 delivered to feed 2 adults and a little monster - Im willing to give it a punt.

    Cheers OP.

    • +1

KFC will do the same for $30.
But Rooters chicken is worth a try.

  • Thanks, and ordered the 2 extra free pieces

  • Thanks Op. dinner sorted

  • +10

Just ordered 3 of these $10 bad boys. Pretty good value, but wouldnt pay full price. Tried some RR items I've never tasted before and compared them to similar KFC items

RR Crunchy Chicken vs KFC Original Recipe - Winner RR, crunchy coating but less herbs & spices.. However KFC Hot Spicy if available is the better.
RR Butter milk wings vs KFC Wicked Wings - Winner KFC. RR wings have less meat, less spice.
RR vs KFC Potatoe gravy - Winner RR, it has more bolder gravy flavour and less potato filler taste.
RR Ripper Tender vs KFC Zinger - Winner KFC, better spiced and jucier chicken

    • What about the chips? RR wins it for me.

  • Dude redrooster has to be the (profanity) worst shit to order off of you cant look at previous or current orders tf is that

  • No Red Rooster in Sydney CBD

    • Summer Hill is the furtherest East RR in Sydney

  • I wish we had an RR near work…..
The local maccas drivethru is packed, and the std is about as acceptable as any other Maccas.
Opporto is drivethru only, and you can't order ahead unless it goes through their 3rd party pricehikes.
Guzman is good, but pricey, and I'm a bit sick of their food.

    Further up the Road
    Pizza Hut- well oily
Dominos - even more Oily and the quality is below standard
KFC -, the drive thru is always packed, but the std of chicken pieces is below average.
Subway - Slow and they should call themselves Substandard.
Hungry Jacks - Too far away, takes 15mins each way to get there, and there is my 30 min break gone.

    • You have to get some taste buds m8 saying Pizza Hut is in front of Dominos !

Pizza Hut seriously was the worst pizza I've tried with the main reason being they put on about triple the sauce of other pizzas to make it disgusting .
Even a no brand frozen I'm sure is not as bad .

    • Hot tip - when the drive-through is packed, just park up and walk in. There's usually almost nobody inside - you get your food straight away, and back into your car way faster than waiting in the drive-through queue.

      • My local Maccas is drive thru only during lockdown… might be the same for the Dog.

  • +2

Red Rooster apparently does not deliver to my suburb, yet when I checked on ubereats/doordash/menulog they're accepting orders from red rooster. Go figure

    • I think that you'll find that because RR do their own deliveries, whereas uber eats operators its delivery area independent of RR internal decisions.

      • Doesn't RR uses doordash for deliveries? At least that's what I can see from most of the comments

        • They used to have there own fleet cars and staff working at store used to deliver. No idea if still the case

  • I am willing to try this, but got no one else to share with with the $25 min spend

  • +4

    Just finished.

Delivery was fast. Driver was kinda out of it and just left it wrong address. But thats DD, not RR.

Mrs and I tried the 3 piece Fried Chicken. Nailed the coating. Juicy Chicken, Just lacked that oomph.

Potato and Gravy is garbage tier. Does anyone seriously like it?

Good value. Would do again at $30 for 3 meals, but not at usual inflated price.

    Cheers OP!

    • Mash and gravy is like the salad of fast foods

    • My thoughts exactly. RR's fried chicken was crunchy but not as flavourful as KFC's original recipe. I'm guessing not enough spice.

RR's mash & gravy was trash. The gravy had zero flavour with an overdose of salt and there was barely enough mash to fill one-third of an already miniscule container.

RR's fries were soggy as hell too.

The only real plus is that RR's chicken portions are larger - I can finish 3 pieces of KFC original recipe in a single sitting but felt full after 2 pieces from RR.

KFC still offers more chicken per dollar if you look at their regular pricing though, and I can pick them up easily on my way home.

I think I'll stick with KFC for now. I just wish they would improve the crispiness of their original recipe… or bring back the hot & spicy boneless.

    • My driver was also whack. Dude had the audacity to tell me off for not putting 12A in my address when he was waiting in front of 12. I double checked and indeed I had put 12A, it was even on the docket!!!

  • Worst app ever for ordering

  • Website so clunky and slow.
    Doesn't deliver to our address.
Can't get the same deal pick up

    C'mon now

    • +1

I wonder if you can set the delivery address as the restaurant address? I’m sure those behind the counter wouldn’t care

  • +1

got this for lunch today. plus the 2 bits of free chicken.
Their fried chicken is hella amazing. tasty coating, hot and juicy chicken.

it's probably also worth noting that their burger patties and rippa rub have have changed to similar coating to their fried chicken and its freakin delicious.

Red rooster is now back on my lunch rotation. if only they kept these prices all the time.

  • Did anyone get a SMS text after ordering? I didn't recieve one and there's no tracking. So hmmm.

UPDATE: Waited an hr to recieve a SMS with tracking. Then 40 minutes into tracking except for 'Going to store' and there's literally no progress. What the actual hell is going on. Everytime i order from RR (very few), it's always been long like this.

  • Going to chime in here for value vs taste for KFC and RR

    KFC Cheap as chips

    8 pieces
    2 large chips
    2 large side orders
    6 nuggets

    $20.95

    RR

    3 piece Satisfryer x2
    Rooster Roll box

8 pieces chicken (includes 2 freebies code)
    Roll
    3 sml potato gravy
    3 cans coke
    3 sml chips
    2 pieces pineapple
    2 butterwings

    $30

Between the 2 KFC seems to taste better but it is oily as hell, a guilty indulgence. 3 meals out of that.
RR had almost no oil but this could be a store per basis cook, it seemed healthier and spread over 4 meals.

Both are good but KFC is cheaper and doesn't seem as healthy, depends how you feel and personal choice is KFC, but RR with the deal is good value, especially if you're feed 3 people.

Close call but KFC wins for me on $ and taste.

  • RR sucks these days. My local (The only one the website will let me order from) doesn't do fried chicken, so the website just shows "Page not found" when I put my address in. 🤷‍♂️ Whatever, KFC it is.

  • Took 25mins to come today, not bad, 3 meal boxes and 2 extra chicken for 30
