Get extended warranty on it. You will need it.

To the person who negged the comment, what the person meant was

Due to the long list of sound quality issues which are only fixed by restarting the tv as confirmed in many many many many forums, extended warranty would be recommended.

Also VRR for PS5 hasn't been confirmed, it's been "pending a firmware update" since release (so the last 24 months)…

And for anyone else interested, yes Sony are aware and are planning to fix the issue in the future firmware upgrades … Which are"pending"….

      Don't hold your breathe.

      • Warranty won't cover features not being added

Extended warranty will be handy when the hardware fails which is highly likely to happen.

Or just get 20% off your next Sony TV when you complain to Sony how your new TV failed just when it was out of the warranty period.

@beastontheroad: I still have a h800 Sony tv that I'm waiting to die. Sony's are pretty reliable

            • @asa79: Lucky you. :)

I bought 4 32' Sony TVs 11 years ago and they lasted well. I have had less luck with more recent purchases. One had a dead headphone port that was not noticed until the warranty was out and the other more recent one had a couple of mainboard issues.

              • @beastontheroad: 32" sonys aren't the same as 40 and above. Totally different operating systems

          • +1

@beastontheroad: Is it just the sound that has issues?

            • @Master Haggler: The motherboard failed in mine. It was replaced under warranty then failed again after the warranty was over.

              • +1

@beastontheroad: Type any product in google and you will find stories of it failing just outside of warranty

                • @mainmast: That's ideally what the companies want. That keeps things turning over.

I don't have this model, I have the 900h. The 900h sounds like it was having similar issues. Most of which have been addressed on the last firmware updates. They should have surely been addressed on the 950h by now???

RE: VRR… Vincent Teoh has shown that the updates have started to roll out. ALLM and VRR are now releasing region by region. Update includes upgrade to Android 10. Very late I know, but it is coming.

      • How would extended warranty help you with firmware issues? If bugs in firmware affect your usecase, just go and buy another tv. There is no guarantee Sony will fix them and extended warranty is not going to help you.

Regarding VRR, you're thinking of the wrong TV. This is the X9500H, not the X9000H. This TV will never get VRR - it doesn't have any HDMI 2.1 ports.

Great TV. I bought this a few months ago…great, natural picture. Just make sure you have quality sources to throw at it…interlaced terrestrial TV looks pretty poor…Netflix (and other streaming services) look amazing, as does UHD content.

Great until it fails on you in 18 months time :)

Great TV, stock should be pretty low. Does not have HDMI2.1 unlike the 2021 x95j although that still doesn't support VRR

  • +1

The new XR processor is much better apparently though for upscaling

X95j in HN has $500 gc cashback and u can negotiate price further.

Have they sorted out the WiFi dropping out issue yet or was that only on the earlier x9000? Great TV otherwise. Bought the x9000 from Sony for $2495.

  • Have the same TV. No other issues except you can not mirror your phone screens anymore (including Samsung Dex). Sony have removed wifi direct support.

I bought it from Sony website and had dead pixels right in the middle of TV, sent it back and now they are sending me X95J instead but taking more than a month for replacement to arrive. Original purchase was on 17th of August

  • Went from X95H to X90H. The former is much much better.
Still one of the best tvs out atm. Good deal.

    • Why did you downgrade?

      • Managed to get a 75 X90H for 2.2.
        65 was too small.

        • 2200? Where did you get it from?

  • any HDMI 2.1 port?

  • I have the 65' and like it, but beware kodi running foxtel is useless. I was miffed that I had to buy a Nvidia shield to work around the crap processor in this TV for Android TV. Note, Android TV other than that is fine. Oh and AI upscling for foxtel go on kodi was worth every cent getting the nvidia shield btw.

    • Did you consider the Google TV option? Cheaper and foxtel on Kodi works well too.

      • AI upscaleing on the shield was worth it.
