How to Travel from Queensland to Victoria with Family

Hi Everyone.

I would like to travel from Bundaberg in Queensland to Cobram in Victoria to pick fruit in November. Then during December I would like to travel to pick more fruit in Wandin Victoria for 4 weeks and travel back to Cobram again after that to pick more fruit until mid April.

After that we hope to go back to Queensland but if it's not possible I will continue to pick fruit in Victoria.

I am also hoping to bring my wife and two year old son with me. Will this be possible? Will my wife need to get an essential worker's permit as well and help me to pick fruit and we hire a babysitter or go to daycare? Or can my wife and son come with me if I can obtain an essential worker's permit?

Who should I contact to arrange things?

Thanks.

Get your 2 vax jabs first?

This. Fruit picking would be considered authorised work.

…authorised workers require their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by Friday, 15 October in order to continue working onsite. They will need to be fully vaccinated by 26 November.

The fact that 80% of Australians have had their first jab suggests there may be a couple of people that share SF3s view on this one.

The question is more how do you RETURN to QLD…

You can enter VIC from a lower risk state without issue. So that isn't a problem. It will be returning from VIC.

You may need to go via South Australia so you don't pass through NSW. Coming home could be the problem with Chairman Palaszczuk.

  • Don’t come to Victoria it’s a cr@phole atm

Undeserving of neg votes. It's truth. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

    • Uhoh. What's been happening?

      • Nothing good.

  • Walk !

Get in contact with your employer. They'll have sorted out fruit pickers during the pandemic and can assist you.

  • Just be mindful borders are not freely open between states before deciding on your move - can you afford to be stuck in Vic.
