Targeted? Don’t see them on plat edge

Yeah, no offers on Qantas Ultimate here
I have used Menulog and Spotify on my card before though 🤔

    • Plat edge here. I got the offer. Maybe it takes a bit of a time?

  • Got Menulog, no Spotify, on Essential card.

  • Got both on the Explorer, but for once I can't actually use the Spotify because I'm on a student plan and won't hit the $18! Shame you can't buy gift cards direct.

    • It says in 1 or more transactions so I think as long as you have a few charges before Dec you'd be fine. I'm on a family plan which is $17.99 so was wondering the same myself.

      • The problem is that the student plan costs $5.99 per month, but you can only be charged a maximum of three times before 31 December. 3x$5.99 = $17.97 and there is no way to pre-pay multiple months, so anyone on a student plan is out of luck, unless they switch to the Individual plan for one month.

Gosh. what do i need to do to get AMEX offers I'd actually use? (Long-term Explorer card holder)

I'm looking to switch energy providers and i do buy delivered food!

Instead i get served no hopers like Pottery Barn Kids, Wittner, and Aveda

It's like they think I am a female retail worker with kids who doesn't manage her everyday household purchasing…

I'm looking to switch energy providers and i do buy delivered food!

That sucks, but I think there in lies part of the problem; they tend to be targeting people who don’t usually use these businesses or services (or who don’t really use their cards that often).

      • I have never bought delivered food, so that probably explains why I have been targeted with Menulog offers twice this year.

      • I have never paid my utility bills using my Amex card, because it’s either not accepted or is only accepted with a high surcharge. Only one of the utility retailers in this offer can actually service me, but their tariffs are far higher than my current provider, so that offer is a no go for me.

      • I occasionally buy products (gift cards) at First Choice Liquor, Vintage Cellars and Liquorland when I get offers from them, and that makes Amex think I am actually interested in alcohol offers from other retailers (e.g. United Cellars). I’ve missed out on three or four offers from First Choice Liquor, Vintage Cellars and Liquorland in the last year or so.

Having said all of that, I never use my card at a petrol station, and I have only received one Caltex/Ampol offer in the last two years!

I don’t know what you can realistically do to get more “relevant” targeted offers, besides asking agents on live chat for better targeted offers (but I doubt that would be helpful).
