PCI-E x4 USB-C Gen2x2 Expansion Card

Recently bought a Simplecom EC318 expansion card (PCI-E x4 USB-C Gen2x2) hoping to add a USB-C port to the back of the case.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite Wifi, which has two 16x slots and two 1x slots.

Installed the card in the 2nd 16x slot but Windows 10 could not detect it.
Tried to reseat it a few times but the problem remains.

Since both M.2 slots on the motherboard are also occupied, could that be the cause to this problem?
I couldn't test that because the two M.2 SSD are running in raid.

Comments

  • read the manual it usually has a section on using M2 slots and the effect it has on pci-e lanes and slots usually with my arorus 480 populating both m2 (nvme and SDD) it cuts out 1 16 and any pci card need to go in pci e 4x slot

    • I did read the manual but there's no mention of such limitations
but thanks for sharing your experience
I'm afraid my mb has the same limitation

  • +1

    Check Biosand lane arrangements

  • Did you plugged in the power for the card?
