Ah, beat me to it. Was just about to post this!

  • +3

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is not free on Steam, can't add this DLC, can only get it from Ubisoft.

  • +3

Was just talking with a mate about replaying this game only yesterday. Today, free DLC.

The Steam gods are looking down upon me.

    • How is the game?

      Similar to The Division?

      • +6

It's a great game. I've played 143 hours. Also played the Division 2. This is similar in the sense of a huge open world, but much better gun play. Weapons and loadouts are customisable and really well done, with attachments that actually make a difference (e.g. suppressors that actually reduce noise). It's also very playable as a single player with AI team, which is important for me.

I'm on my second play through, and things get a bit same-same if you're going for 100% completion, but I played probably >50 hours on first play through without feeling it was all the same. Huge variety of different mission types, some stealth focused, some "all guns blazing", and open to your play style. Put it this way: the base game currently costs less than a movie ticket, and you'll get a lot more entertainment out of it if you enjoy games like The Division and shooter games.

        • It's also got tie-ins with some of the other Tom Clancy franchises e.g. Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6, which are pretty well done.

        • +3

It's also a game that's much improved when playing with friends.

  • +1

    Also EGS.

Epic and Steam require base game to claim.

    • thanks mate. added :)

    • I was able to claim on the epic store without the base game using Firefox mobile browser.

  • +4

PS4 link says ‘not available for purchase?’

Think PS4 version also requires base game to claim

    • +3

      Yea it's an add on.

Edit: nope my friends can’t get it even with the base game

    • +6

For me there's no button showing at all… I can't add to library or download, weird (I own the base game, and am logged in).

      • Wonder if you can do it through the game?

    • same, no button for me

    • +4

Turn your PS4 Console On, Go into PlayStation store, Type in Search "Ghost Recon Wildlands Fallen Ghosts", tells you to choose a version, Select the 2nd Option (Free DLC).

      • Thank you.
I tried Firefox/chrome/ps store (browsed not searched). I find really poor that Sony make this deliberately SO hard.

        • Yeah the store redesign when the PS5 launched is terrible.

  • +2

    Not available on ps4

  • +1

Legend! Me and my mates have been playing Wildlands together and have been loving it - appreciate it. :)

  • +1

    No free base game?

    • +1

Base game is worth the current price on Steam ($15 - 80% off). Less than the price of a movie, with heaps more entertainment value.

it that not the base game and free? sorry noob on this type of game platforms

        • Nah, Ghost Recon is a franchise like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Rainbow 6, etc. The linked game is the original in the series from 2001 I think. Was a great game in it's day, but a bit dated now hence why it's free. It's the 20th Anniversary of that game, hence the sales and giveaways.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is the second newest (released) Ghost Recon game which came out in 2017. I wouldn't bother with most of the other DLC but this one actually looks alright. Pity I have the game on Ubi and not Steam or Epic :(

          • +1

@moar bargains: The DLC is currently free on Ubi too. It should be added with the others above instead of being in the original post only.

    • Base Game is on sale on Epic for $11.24

    • $11.24 on Epic and uPlay. Steam is about $15.

  • got a little excited for nothing.
just dlc is free, base is not

  • +1

    There's Stadia in Australia??

    • Nope. You can try VPN but it's not the greatest from here even with "really fast" Australian internet.

      • Yeah I thought so. I was keen on Stadia but it doesn't seem like they have plans to bring it to Aus any time soon. I was keen to not have to pay a premium to buy a PS5/Xbox just to play these games.

  • Are we going to be posting all free DLC now?

    • +2

      Yes?

    • +1

If it's a deal yes? I paid much more than $0 for it a while back.

  • +2

This is a super fun game played it a couple of years ago, would highly recommend.

Edit: Also not able to grab this on the Sony Store for PS4 :(

  • Dang it! Thought this was for Breakpoint… Nearly at my breaking point with patience for this game lol

  • +2

Probably my most played game on uPlay. Wondering if I can claim the DLC through steam though??

    • Update.. Also free on uPlay.

    • Dumb Q but I'll ask it because I think you'll get my gist, I have a backlog of games in particular Deathloop and Days Gone but kind of craving this, yet it's older, and I'm time-poor! Loving death-loop but I've always loved Ghost Recon games, ever since Ravenshield 1. With your experience would you say this stacks up in 2021 (if that makes sense!) and there's no wrong answer, just your perspective!

      Thanks for your time!

      • +2

I had some issues with Wildlands on release, mainly due to immersion in the open world. Story is a little meh too. I definitely say the game holds up today though because I played it again recently and the jungle environment is still one of the best looking out there. Diverse maps. The tactics, mechanics are a lot of fun and with variation.

Looking at those other games you have I wouldn't prioritise the Tom Clancy game but that is down to personal taste.

        • +1

Great to hear! Immerson is probably what I'd hope for the most to be honest. That helped a heap and I'm glad I asked! Thanks a heap for your reply!

      • +1

This definitely stacks up in 2021. It's a fantastic game. If you liked previous GR games, you will enjoy this. All I know of Deathloop is a 3 min vid I just watched on Youtube, but if you enjoy that for the combat, you'll like this too.

        • +2

Well you've got me bloody excited and I'm gonna jump into it next. Thanks a heap, I've missed GR games heaps and didn't get into Siege so this will be a real treat. Cheers!!

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Great! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have :) I got it on sale for $15 and have spent 140 hours playing so far, so I've definitely got my money's worth! Also if you want a friend to play with occasionally, send me a DM with details when you get it ;)

  • +1

Can be accessed via PlayStation Store on PS5. You have to switch from the default paid version and select the free version.

    • Legend this was the only way i could get it to work and just download the free DLC rather than the 24 bucks it wanted to charge me

  • base game was fun. how many more hours of fallen ghost?

    • +1

People are saying about 8-10 hours more.

  • FYI, you need to own the base game before it lets you add the free DLC to your library. Its the same if you did it through the uPlay store. The base game is cheaper on uPlay store.

Epic lets you add it without the base game.

  • the PS4 version is no longer free, showing up as $22.95 with no second option
