Did you do the unnecessary formatting course?

  • What's the recommended wrist size for this size watch? I'm 6¼ for reference

    • +1

When you have small wrist size like me you need to be careful with the dial and crown size. The problem with Turtle for me is not just the dial (as 45mm dial is not considered as too big), but the crown is huge. I'm wearing 43mm dial Citizen Eco-Drive with leather band, fits perfect: https://www.citizenwatches.com.au/collections/eco-drive/prod…

I'm 6.25 and my daily is a Pepsi Turtle. Love it and I don't think it looks oversized at all.

Seikos are legendary for lug tapering, hiding the size well.

Perhaps look into the lug to lug measurement.

check out the chart in this link as a guide. https://theslenderwrist.com/watch-size-guide/

I won't go into details, because there's lots of resources that will explain it better than I can here. But what I'd recommend is you research about lug to lug length. This is the measurement from top to bottom of the watch. It makes a bigger difference on how the watch "wears" on a wrist, rather than case diameter.
Also research other details about endlinks. For example, male endlinks (like what I can see in the model in this post) protrude out of the top and bottom of the case. This will effectively make the lug to lug size a little larger.
Other details will make a difference, if the lugs curve down, etc. Another tricky thing is that stores sometimes don't mention the lug to lug size. In that case, it's sometimes better to research specific models via reviews which go into further details on specific diamensions.

I want the one with manta rays for that price

  • So - does this actually do anything to save the oceans???

I think the glass contains turtle shell…

        Is this a windup?

        • Yes, the 4R36 movement can be hand wound or will automatically wind up while you're wearing it.

  • wish they did the series 5 with WR200 and screw down crown instead of 100M and push in crown.

They basically need to bring back the SKX007 with a few upgrades and would be a best seller (NH36 movement, sapphire crystal, better quality bracelet) as the size is a lot better than most of these which are massive). Agree with the other comments on lug to lug dimension and how the bracelet interfaces with the lugs. Just not a fan of the case shape, guess it's meant to look like a turtle.. good on big wrists.

      • yeah, I should have bought an SKX007 when the cheap deals were on.
Think next buy will be the new seiko solar diver in green,
SEIKO PROSPEX SUBMARINER SNE579P1 …. question will be at what price point, already own the PADI version , in brown it was mehhhhh, in green it pops.

        • True, by the time i knew what they were i was still a few years late to the party. Not worth paying $500-700 now as they used to be $250 or something. It's not that they are that special but pretty Iconic and got a lot right for the original price.

Sounds interesting will have to look it up. Guess isn't bad selling them if you can get most money back to make room for a new one, don't like too many similar watches in my collection trying to keep it under 5 watches :).

Edit: they look pretty good, just have to wait for the starbuy sales hey.

          • @G-rig: yeah, the starbuy killer deal pricing get me across the line e.g %50+ off it’s why i own 3 different color samurais …the green seiko at 50%+ off will join the collection ….. i’m really loving the convenience and accuracy of solar watches.

            • @garage sale: Sounds good for that discount although you'd never pay RRP.
it's nice having a few different coloured faces/bezels
