GoPro Hero10 + Dual Charger and Spare Battery + 1 Year GoPro Subscription $599.95 Delivered @ GoPro

651

ofc, when i just opened my order from last week, a new ad from GoPro pops up.

GoPro Hero10 Black + Dual Charger and Spare Battery for $600.00

seems better value than the other bundle they are offering. (Shorty, Spare Battery, Swivel Clip for $100 more)

If you have GoPro Hero7 and older, the Hero10 should be a great upgrade.

If from Hero8 and Hero9, the upgrade is much more subjective.

enjoy this deal for me

    • Most likely shipped from Singapore through UPS, probably more reliable the Australia Post at this moment. :D

It is said on the website that it takes only 3-5 days for shipping ……….

        • +2

          mine took 4 working days

FYI: from the T&C's this deal runs until Nov 18th …

I decided to jump on the 10 wagon and upgrade due to how much the 8's are selling for at the moment…

My bro-in-law quite likes selling stuff on Gumtree so I got him to list my Hero8 +accessories for $450 yesterday, it sold today for the full amount…
    https://i.postimg.cc/VNzTsHqY/f7759.jpg
I only paid $450 for it 2 years ago
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/490688
so the cost of 2 years use has been about $83 for the extra batteries, charger, dive, & silicon case which I included with the sale.. Not bad considering the amount of use it's had…

    Hero8 cost:
    $450 - Gopro 8
$54 - batteries and charger Amazon
    $14 - dive case ebay
    $9 - silicon case ebay
    $6 - Sandisk 64gb SDcard (+$20 TGG voucher)

I figure once the local retailers start discounting the Hero 10 the resale value of the 8 will drop so it seemed like a now or never time to upgrade…

The 10 ended up being $645 with a 3rd battery and silicon sleeve:

Straight after purchase I went into Paypal and cancelled the Gopro subscription payment permission (as I always do with subscriptions), then I realized I had only been charged $575, I assume they charge the subscription fee separately?, I guess they will cancel the order or get in touch with me for the subscription payment, lol.. .Oddly I got a welcome email for subscription and a receipt/order-confirmation for the full $645…

      did almost the same
got the GP8 during the same deal as you and sold for almost the same price i got it. ($400)

you will enjoy the GP10 improved chip, for faster touch responsiveness and faster photo and video processing
and the front screen is great to have for selfies.

      • There doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the 8 and 10 video quality but the non-replaceable lens on the 8 always bugged me and my batteries were starting to age… Plus the resale value seems to drop off fairly fast once they're a couple of years old…

My main annoyance with the 8 was the random lockups when using one button quick-start, unfortunately it seems the 10 has similar locking-up issues, lol, time will tell..

Mine shipped today and I haven't paid the $70 subscription, they did send me an email about the payment this morning though:
"We're having trouble authorising your payment method on file.
Perhaps you received a new credit card or the card has expired?
Please take a moment to update your payment method. Its simple,"

I like that I got the deal for $70 cheaper but I fear karma may come bite me on the arse so I'm tempted to pay it… I've used Gopros for 10 years and never damaged one other than odd scuffs and broken mounts, but it would be just my luck/karma I'll end up breaking this one and not have the subscription to replace it, lol

  • anyone know if OW or JBHIFI would price match this deal? Not really needing the subscription ..

    • +1

Very unlikely an Aussie store would price-match a bundle deal offered by an international company…

I managed to dodge paying for the subscription, they charge the bundle and subscription separately, after going through the checkout using Paypal I went to Paypal and cancelled the subscription payment permission, it seems they didn't try charging me for the subscription till a bit later, so that payment failed.. I may have been lucky, this may not work for others…

  • I would be cautious buying from GoPro directly - their customer support is non-existent. They don’t have the ability to email or call them directly, and you can only request a call back, which during my case they wouldn’t call me at all when I would put in my reference number. They blatantly admit they have no knowledge of Australian Consumer Law and will not replace or repair anything after 12 months. So I would consider these the same as grey import.

    • +1

I agree it's not ideal and it's a bit of a gamble but the only other option at the moment is to pay around $750 in local stores… or wait a month or so for them to start coming on sale locally…

Paying with Paypal is probably wise so you have 180 days leverage and return shipping costs covered… On the upside, if a Gopro is going to fail it tends to happen when they're fairly new, not 12+ months down the track…

I was keen to offload my 8 while they're still worth decent money and I didn't want to be without a camera while I wait for local sales, so buying direct from Gopro was the only option really… (Upgrade cost ended up being $124 for me)

Edit, just realized JB have them on sale for $699 now:
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/gopro-hero10-black-5-3k-h…
They must have sold a few at $750, there's 17 reviews on there…

      It's also $699 at Officeworks
      https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/gopro-hero…
      & TGG.. .
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/gopro-hero10-black-chdhx-101-…
TGG are offering $80 store credit with C&C purchases over $440, so that helps bring the price down, use the credit to buy spare batteries, charger, or such at their jacked up prices..

Yeah I got caught out and didn’t take many low light photos to realise early on the issue most/all GoPro’s seem to have with countless dead pixels on the sensor link. Haven’t read this with the 10 yet but would encourage anyone wanting to photo anything in remotely low light to check this early on, as it is crazy how prominent it is when you look at your photos and video off the GoPro.

With the saga I have been through I’d easily pay an extra $100 to not have to deal with GoPro again.

        • That sucks… After buying the 8 and hearing of people having issues with support I thought I'd never buy direct from them again, but here I am, lol… I only had minor issues with the 8 like random lockups, some funky charging issues, and some strange battery drain issues, but I learned to live with the bugs, the odd lockups was an ongoing annoyance though…

I just checked my 10 on max ISO and 100-400, I dont seem to have any dodgy pixels thankfully…

          • @FLICKIT: Yeah I’ve had heaps of issues on my 8 with the same things but none were a deal breaker, just annoying. Good to hear the 10 might not have the same issues

They claim the November firmware update will help with heat and battery life, and there will be a new "Enduro" battery released which they claim will significantly improve record time and cold temperature performance

  • HERO10 Black Firmware version 1.15 is out but there's issues with it so it's best to wait for the next version, Gopro are aware of the issues:

We are aware of the automatic rebooting issue with firmware version 1.15 and are working on a resolution. In the meantime, you may manually "update" (revert back) to v1.10 or install the GoPro Labs firmware

I spent the last few days away hiking The Walls of Jerusalem in Tasmania with the Hero 10, I'm quite impressed, the battery life seems on par with the Hero 8, maybe a little better, and I didn't have any lockups which required battery removal which were quite common with the 8… Out of 190 videos, twice it seemed to fritz out and flashed up something like "attempt to repair file failed" but it wasn't a big deal, and once the stabilization seemed to go haywire and the image was jumping all over the place…

All in all, as someone that's owned Gopros' for a decade, I'm quite content with the 10 so far..

    • Thanks for all these comments mate. What kind of real world recording time were you getting out of a battery while doing the big hikes?

      • +1

I'm not to sure with the hiking, I don't do any long solid vids, just lots of fairly short quick captures, less than half a battery per day, topping it up from a battery bank in the tent at night…

Once my body recovers a bit I'll take it out on the motorbike and test the battery life…

  • Some Hero10 samples: All 4k 50fps, Vibrant, wind auto, Hypersmooth boost, varies between narrow, wide-linear, and an occasional superview… I put in very little effort and I'm still working out my "goto" settings, the clips are just joined together with the free VideoProc then uploaded to Youtube ;)

The audio is pretty good on the 10, listen to the birds, frogs, water, and such.. (it's in a Gopro silicon case)

  • Does the subscription get charged in a different invoice?

  • I got the 10 out on the motorbike yesterday, all ok other than I need to tilt it down more to stop the sky washing out the foreground, aiming the 10 seems a bit different to the 8, (usual learning curve):

4K-50fps, Vivid, Superview, Standard Stabilization(I think)..

  • Has anyone bought from GoPro directly? I purchased two weeks ago, and have not received delivery or even a confirmation email! And I can’t seem to contact GoPro!

    • +1

      Bought camera from them directly
Received order confirmation from them and PayPal

Battery may be an issue due to import restrictions on batteries

      • Has your camera turned up?

        • yes, one week to arrive.
          but battery i bought locally.
Weird you not receiving the order confirmation email

          • @raphael2012: It is pretty strange… I've lodged quite a few support tickets with GoPro, but they never call (despite the promise on their website). I just checked my PayPal, as I was going to dispute the payment, but it is still showing as 'pending'. Perhaps they haven't dispatched it yet.

            • @JF1: I've heard of others having issues, they wont ship to PO boxes and some other addresses…

When I contacted them I had to try a few times before the chat worked, if I selected sales it would never connect, I tried a heap of times, once I tried "order" it worked the second time I think…

              • +1

@FLICKIT: I finally got through to GoPro (after lodging 10+ contact requests). They simply stated that "This is to update you that our team already found your order but this order didn't push through." How bizarre… and it took me chasing it to be told (despite being charged) that my order was not going to be processed. Luckily I paid through PayPal, so I'll get my money back.

I can't believe a NYSE listed 'tech' company has such bad customer support. Lesson learned!
