    Good price. Tempted..

  • -1

Tempted as price is pretty decent - but based on my issues with m3 staying in ear (even with after market memory rubber tips) I think I will just ditch Sony until they go with maybe an ear fin design or something that has more points of contact.

    • +9

Apparently these are a better secure fit.

I hear you with the fallout out part with xm3 which is why I'm definitely looking at these OR the apple beats buds

      basswhore

      • i bought the pros, then a week or two later i saw the apple beats buds lol. The pros are really nice though, so regret is minimal.

        • +1

Ah nice. Pros I respect but not for me - Android

Though I always had a fondness for my old beats that were wired. I think they were called urbeats? They were like $120? Back in the day.

Now these are out and I'm really trying to decide 🤣

          • @agalea101: there are quite a lot of people that actually use pros with their android but definitely if you're not already in the apple ecosystem, the value is not there imo. Siri integration and seamless handover between iphone and ipad is great.

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Exactly my way of thinking if not in the ecosystem though they do look very clean and minimalistic which is always nice and the integration with the whole line of Apple products are really at the top if not the best - though will go for Sony XM4

              • @agalea101: The thing I hate the most is that there is no app when using airpod pros with Android. Reason I'm getting these and will stop using the airpod pro.

I had the M3s and returned them. After reading about these I bought a pair and they are a wildly different product. The M3s fell out of my ears constantly. They never felt secure no matter what I did. The M4s are great, never felt any concern about them falling out. They are a fantastic product, best earbuds I've ever owned by a long mile. Having said that, there are so many half decent truly wireless earbuds for not much money now they are a huge price premium.

      • a long mile

Is that the mile one has to crawl on their stomach to cross?

    • +5

I'm someone that struggles with ear fit (airpods fall straight out) but these things are SOLID. When you put in your ear, then twist it it locks in big time.

It's honestly the first in ear phones I've ever used that feel really solid to me. And the sound quality is A+++

I can even run 10k and they are solid the whole way.

      • dang, kinda sad i didnt give sony a THIRD chance ( i have mark 1 AND 2) but at the time everyone was sold out and best price was RRP as is.

  • Can these simultaneously connect to two devices? I assume so but I can't see it explicitly mentioned anywhere. My old Jabra ones do - so good for WFH (computer + phone)

    • +2

No, I don't think they can.

    • +2

MJ101 is correct, they can't. The only significant problem I have had with them.

    • +2

the main reason i even considered jabra 75t was because they could connect to both, such a killer feature that basically no one else is going for..

      • +1

work phone + work laptop… how hard is it? There would so many consumers with this requirement

        • apple is good with the auto handover between phone and ipad, but my work laptop and pc are both windows ahhhhhhhhhhh

      • Taotronics do this also.

  • +5

Samsung buds2 compare very well to these and are half the price, much better call quality if thats important but battery life not as good.

    Side by side comparison.

Oh man looking at this makes me kick myself. Had chance to buy the buds 2 for 50% off lol recently in the trade deal 😭

But I will keep telling myself Sony family won't be happy 🤣 so wait for $250 ~ price on these or black friday Amex deals

      I'm wary of rtings…
Great website for technical details and what not - but their ratings are a bit on the soft side.
Ideally, use rtings + gauge opinion from other reviews + get a chance to wear them if you can.

For me, I'm still rocking the Jabra Elite 75Ts, but having been eyeing the Sony M4 since release. Only problem for me is the price. I'm not a huge audiophile (mainly using my earphones for podcasts, movies + music from time to time), and reckon majority of us are in the same boat.

IMO - if you can afford it, go the M4s.

Otherwise, the best value earbuds are the Samsung Galaxy Bud Plus. For $120 odd, you can't beat them in terms of value (plus they still have class leading battery life).
Small form factor, tiny case, splash proof, can use either L or R bud independently, decent sound and mic quality. Be quick though - supposedly, they are discontinuing the Bud Plus with the new Bud 2/Pro's that have come out superceding them.

Think the Jabra 75T's have gone on sale for about $120~140ish >>> better build quality + slightly better sound quality IMO. But they usually go for $180~$200 plus >>> and once you get to the $200+ range, there are so many more earbuds to choose from.

For true audiophiles/music lovers though, seems the NC + sound quality of the M4s are the way to go.

      • +1

Buds2 have far more accurate sound profile

      • +1

I wouldn't trust Rtings they are complete contrary to user feedback on the linked earbuds. Either their testing methods are wrong or the data they are presenting are different and incomparable.

Also my experience with their TV ratings are less than positive. Their settings when I apply them to my TVs are unpleasant which is fixed when I use settings provided from reviewers such as Hard Unboxed on Youtube.

Great tool for getting to know products to short list them, but people are over quoting them as an authority source.

        • +1

I search every big purchase on YouTube before I buy to see if it's been reviewed. There are so many review channels, even sneaker and basketball shoe reviewers!

      • Yes I agree with the Rtings being not always rleaible and XM4 is Exxy though will try to Ozbargain a way to get it for $250 or less to sleep better at night. I think if a chance presents it self will not hesitate at that price.

  • For some reason I don't see a click and collect

    • Sorry I've updated the title

    • C&C is available now

      • damnit haha

  • I have had there since release and the fit is much better than the XM3's. NC and battery life are awesome!

Only thing I find annoying is that there is no multi point connection and it is slightly bigger compared to the Jabra's.

  • +3

I've returned mine. Couldn't get a comfortable fit. Was going to wait for Jabra Elite 7 Pro but early reviews are disappointing…

      1. hows your algo going?
      2. dang, was about to pull the trigger based on positive reviews above haha..guess ill stick with airpod pros…
  • +1

Won't post to my address, not sure why as they will with other items.

Edit: Managed to price match through Sony website and hopefully 8% cashrewards.

I have been using these Sony M4 earbuds since 2 months ago, and they are great.
Sound quality is slightly better than Sony M3 earbuds (have used them for 2 years).

Purchased Sony M4 via Sony Store using AMEX $60 cashback.

  • +3

FYI: these are terrible for zooms/calls in mild to noisy environments.

I bought these at the drop because of reviews praising the call quality.

The problem is that the ambient sound microphones are forced on during calls, and there is no way to turn it off. I've done hours of research into trying to fix it - no go.

Sony claim this is a handy "feature" so you don't talk too loudly when on a call. It's not a feature if you can't choose whether to use it or not. That's a problem with the tech, which is when you get the marketing people in to rebrand it it as a feature.

    • wow good to know - my main requirement was for calls mainly but do a bit of skype/zoom calls now and then.

FWIW I've had no problems with airpod pros with regards to people being able to hear me.

      • They will be able to hear YOU fine, but you'll hear everything that's happening around you amplified directly into your ear holes.

  • +1

This or sennheiser true wireless 2?

    • interested to know too…

  • +1

I’ve had mine for a month of daily usage for workouts. Can confirm for calls this is garbage. Everything else is sublime. That noise cancelling is seriously OP.

    • +1

Ive seen some video comparisons and they seem to be okay? I have airpod pro and I hate how Apple don't have an OEM app to be able to check battery etc on your android phone.

  • A BEAST disguised as a generic pair of SoundPeats earbuds.

  • wf xm3 is $177,
    wf xm4 is $330,
which one is best value ?
    thanks

    • +2

Before you consider - try out the XM3s.
I've used them, and they are really chunky. The sheer size and design aren't to my taste.
Might be I've got gumby ears, but mic jutts out and droops down. Also found the fit slightly uncomfortable for long usages.

Would advise that you should try the XM3 before you buy (or buy from a reputable retailers who offers 14 day no questions asked returns).

  • Xm4

  • The memory foam ear tips that these comes with are unusable for me, super uncomfortable. I cant wear them for over 30mins without having to take them out due to pain. Bought a replacement pair of spinfit CP360 off amazon, made the XM4s 10 times better.

  • Now you guys are putting me off these buds, I was keen on them. Do you think the call quality can improve with a software update?

    • That is more a hardware limitation and software can only do so much. It seems Galaxy buds pro is better in call quality than this.

      • If I was more of an audiophile, go the Sonys?

        • Samsung apparently has more clarity than the Sony, the Sony has more bass than the Samsung.

  • +1

A few people have mentioned that they've returned these. For $330, I've got to ask - what's the return possibilities for buying these via eBay like this?

    • +2

I asked ebay they said you can drop it off to nearest good guys.
