Great little board. Using for around 1 year without any issues.

    • Cheers, does this have a front USB-C header?

      • +1

No front USB-C header. You'll have to look at something like the B550M Mortar

        • Thanks mate

  • i have the x570 of this board. excellent board, have noticed no problems so far (about 1 year in). Have it paired with a 5900x & 3090 and it seems to work will with them with no issues i have noticed.

  • I am looking a MSI B550 A-Pro. I am planning to get (as advised on ozb) 2x8gb dual link memory, however on the motherboard memory compatibility list, none of the memory that I found on pcpartpicker site isnt compatible.

What happens if I use a memory that's not on the compatible list?

    Thank you

    • Nothing, it'll be fine

      • Thank you but why even make a list in the first place? Just curious.

        • Just for the sake of making one I guess, people will complain if there isn't one

  • for those that care.

uPI Semi uP9505S 6-phase (in 4+2 mode) with 50A power stages (with a doubler 4+4 cpu and 2 for soc).

not bad, but not exactly high end either. I wouldn't be using this for 5800x and above.

HUB testing shows this board is perfectly suitable for a stock 3950x load, VRM temps around 57 degrees, so its not a bad choice

  • Remember to update the BIOS as this motherboard was manufactured before the AMD Ryzen 5600x

    • Does this mean I need to put an older CPU on the board first so I can update the fw?

      • No, you can put in newer CPUs. It's just that you need to update the firmware from the manufacturers website in order to boot properly. Just make sure this board supports the AMD CPU you are putting in.

You can refer to this picture: https://www.techspot.com/article/2114-amd-b450-or-b550-mothe…

Because this motherboard doesn't have usb flashback you would need a older cpu to update the bios. You can also usually ask the store to do it for you and they'll do it for free before they ship it out/release it for collection. There's always the chance that they are now shipping with more up to date bios' with ryzen 5000 support out of the box but I haven't looked in a while

        • Thanks for this info. My second choice is the MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4, by any chance do you know if this would suffer the same issue or can I flash it with a Ryzen 5 5600X?

          • @bonezAU: That has a bios flashback button so you can flash the bios without a cpu installed if it doesn't ship with a supporting bios installed already. They're both good boards and they both have their pros and cons so you can't really go wrong with either.

            • @Mrbtree98: Awesome, thanks heaps. Now I just need to find some time to properly read up about the pros and cons. I'm not building a gaming rig so not particularly fussy but just need to make sure there are no show stoppers.
