I always thought woks were meant to be thin, lighter metal so it's easier to do the food toss. Cast iron defeats the purpose.

  • I'd like to know how heavy is that…

A cast iron pan is already heavy enough for me

this is a wok by name but not by nature. The light steel of a real wok allows precise temperature control, lowering and increasing as wok cooking requires. Also as mentioned by @vietbargain, the light weight of a real wok allows 'wok tossing' of food.

    This is a $39.98 weapon.

Cast iron woks retain heat and distribute it evenly. It's for a different style of cooking than the million-degree flash cooking chinese/thai style that carbon steel is used for.

That said, I wouldn't get this one. Because of their weight, it really needs to have two handles.

    • Because of their weight, it really needs to have two handles.

I came here to say that :)

I have a cast iron wok and use it a lot, but yeah not for noodle stir fry type dishes

    • This would be impractical as a wok or as a pan

    • With one handle, you’re pumping iron instead of casting

  • Simple pressed steel woks are probably cheaper than this.

  • Cast Iron vs Carbon steel Work which is better?
I do have carbon steel work and just ordered this?

    • I don't know what you could stir fry with this.

Waste of money. The time it takes to heat this up, you'll be done cooking already with a carbon steel wok. Waste of time and electricity… Unless you plan to cook a steak or a stew with this.

Not really Wok shape, Wok has curvy bottom like "Kardashian". This more like white man "flypan" with high walls.
