Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 $620.10 Delivered @ Gearbite

1770
E10

I am a genius. I successfully guessed what this coupon code was (based on previous codes) and discovered this deal.

As usual, note these are illegal in NSW because Australia/NSW is a nanny-state that is behind the world. Cities in other countries that give back much more to humanity than NSW, allow scooters.

You can get $2400 of fines for riding a scooter like this in NSW, even though they are openly sold at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman etc. and many people just ride them anyway.

Also the scooters are zero-emission and quiet, take cars off the road etc. but our government does have no interest in fighting climate change so I guess it makes sense that they prefer you to buy a large vehicle instead.

"Transport Minister Andrew Constance says he was “not in the mood” to have e-scooters on Sydney streets, even though his department ran a lengthy process recommending conditions for holding a trial."

I explained the article to another user on this thread. I'll copy and paste it here:

The start summarises it quite well:

E-scooter enthusiasts are hoping the state’s new transport minister will finally allow the devices to operate legally in Sydney.

Business Western Sydney executive director David Borger is calling on new Transport Minister Rob Stokes to allow a trial of the scooters at Sydney Olympic Park.

His calls are echoed by Business Sydney executive director Paul Nicolaou, who said the Sydney CBD would also benefit.

Then there's a picture with this caption, "Zack D'Mello, 18, is joining a push for an e-scooter trial at Sydney Olympic Park.".

Then they mention Constance's reaction to this:

Mr Constance also cancelled a trial earlier this year.

“The former transport minister is moving on and we need to move on with electric scooters,” Mr Borger said.

“People are voting with their feet and using them, whether they’re allowed to or not.

“The benefits of the trial are that we can work out how to use transport effectively and reduce risk.

“And the best spot to do that is in a place with wide open spaces and endless footpaths like Sydney Olympic Park.”

They proceed to talk about how there has only been 24 fines since 2014 for riding scooters. This has apparently totalled to $1804 which seems unlikely in my opinion as one rider received $2.5K fines alone for riding their scooter at the Sydney CBD.

They then mention that the e-bike hire system was poorly implemented leaving bikes scattered everywhere but scooters could be more easily stored out of the way with hire companies collecting them every evening.

Then they mention a local Wentworth Point resident,

Wentworth Point’s Zach D’Mello, 18, said a trial at Sydney Olympic Park would prove popular.

“It would be a useful mode of transport compared to going via car or even using a bus to get around,” he said.

“It really seems like a major grey area here because I’ve talked to people who ride scooters and they’ve had conversations with police, and the police say that they’re completely fine with it and they actually see it as a good way of transportation.”

Took me a while to realize but I just found out how you guessed the code :)

You typed in E10 instead of M10 and it worked LOL nice!!

Been waiting for ages, but I’m determined to win this fight 😂

There's a new generation that replaced the E series I believe

      • I did see a few newer models

        Haven’t compared them yet

  • +1

Does anyone here own an electric scooter and has actually been fined in Sydney/NSW?

I would so get one if it wasn't illegal. So envious of the people i see riding them arond Sydney streets fearlessly.

Can you guess a Tesla coupon code for me please

  • Would it work well for a 125kg person??

    • The battery was tested fully charged, with a 75kg load, at 25°C, with no wind on a level road in pedestrian mode at a uniform velocity of 15km/h. Actual results may vary based on differences in temperature, load, wind speed, road conditions and other factors.*

  • I had my eyes on tw-wow GT s2 for almost half a year, don’t know how to get it cheaper than the price in Australia which is cheapest, Hell beats this scooter and lighter weighing only 14kg smaller and slimmer and faster with 700w motor. Read so many reviews and comparisons this scooter can definitely climb steep hills and lasts up to 50km distance. Prob with high spec scooters and depending on popularity some sellers keep jacking up prices which really makes you change to an alternative scooter.

    • Chuck us a link for this

  • Looks back in stock.

  • What electric scooter can be recommended that has the suspension?

    • I think the Xiamoi does

      • Nope it doesnt.

        • My mates does

          Maybe it’s an old model

  • Just bought one of these from gearbite. Shipping took a little longer than advertised but I gotta say I (profanity) love the scooter

  • Does anyone know where to get repairs in Melbourne?
    Segway ES4 - error21
"Built-in battery communication error, please check the battery, master control and related cables. (21)"

Not usable it makes an annoying beeping noise and speed is maxed out at 15km/h in any mode while still beeping the whole time.

  • +1 for Description

  • Now that Andrew Constance is history, I wonder if the next Transport minister can be persuaded to see some common sense about Personal mobility devices.

    • One can only hope.

but our government does have no interest in fighting climate change

The cult of climate really does attract the muppets.

I'd love to hear your explanation of how importing millions of new toys, made from materials require extensive mining and manufacturing, transporting them halfway across the world from the most polluting country in the world, that will almost certainly be landfill within a few years "fights climate change".
Feel free to provide your sums.

    • +2

They are significantly more efficient than cars. You cut off that part of the sentence in your quote.

Feel free to provide your sums.

You can provide yours. How much more efficient is a scooter to manufacturer and operate compared to a 4WD?

      • -4

They are significantly more efficient than cars.

So is walking. So back to the actual argument rather than your lame strawman, how is mining, processing and manufacturing new toys in the most polluting country in the world, then putting them on jet planes or diesel ships to ship them half way around the world, how does that "fight climate change"?

        You can provide yours.

        Sure.
        Walking = zero emissions

        Now your turn.

        • +3

"Derp derp derp, the only way to go combat global warming is to walk everywhere, kill the global economy and go back to caveman times. Derp let's kill off humanity so we don't use a single further resource".

how does that "fight climate change"

Helps people move/commute with a vehicle requiring little energy and also powered by an energy storage mechanism that has the potential to be charged via green energy (and is sustainable).

And for daily usage, people will commute with no deadly emissions out of their vehicles, like cars have.

Your arguments are so dumb. What is your alternate idea? Do nothing and complain about things? It sounds like it.

          • -2

            @watwatwat:

            the only way to…

Strawman. Maybe stick to the actual argument rather than invent your own.

        • I wonder how much pollution and emission wars actually cost. I don't think many have really attempted to calculate this and if they did I honestly won't be surprised if it was the biggest contributor to pollutions and emission in the world.

  • Are they legal in Melbourne?
Any issues faced so far by anyone? Driving on cycle path or foot path ?

    • +2

Most of the issues people seem to get are from those riding them erratically.

  • Just got a text message saying my order has been refunded. Anyone else get this?

    • Yep, just received an email saying I have been refunded. No reason why they refunded

    • I used my work address as the shipping address. Wonder if that caused the problem so I re-ordered using the billing and shipping address as my home address this time. Order went through successfully with the discount code so I'll update here if it's refunded again.

  • Would love to buy one. However, I live in the biggest nanny state (Victoria)

I have 1 in Sydney, never had a sideways look from the PoPo, mind you, i'm in the burbs, not CBD..

Awesome scooter, i flashed Monopattina F/W (Sport) first day i got it.. Upgraded 10" tyres, X-Tech brakes, duck tail fender & a few minor cosmetic things..

I'm 120kg & it does fine, even pulls up hill, if steep i give it a few kicks.. Think my top speed is 40km/h (downhill admittedly) easy does 34km/h on flat road/footpath.

    • Hi mate. If it's not upgraded like you did : would it still work fine for 120kg person? How often does it get punctured ?
How many kms does it usually last ? Any tips where to buy lock / carry bag/ air pump for it ? Thanks

      • it'll run fine standard, just tops out @25km/h iirc..

U should get around 20+ k's distance.. Really depends on terrain/hills etc, road or foootpath (road's a bit sketchy unless there's no traffic obviously).

As for tyres, they're extremely fiddly to get right, such a small tube can deflate very quickly when screwing the pump on/off, takes a bit of getting used to. I got this pump paid $53 delivered - on sale, it's similar to the OzBargain fave "Xiaomi Mi tyre" .. Works a treat & pocket sized..

It's imperative you keep your tyres hard, when they're low is when u get punctures, around 40psii irc, they should feel pretty hard when you stick your thumb into the tread.. I ran the original 8" for a while & they were fine, the 10" does give more speed & a more comfortable ride though..

'Solids' are also a option if your concerned about punctures, apparently they ride 'harder' though, ie. you will feel the bumps more!

There's a myriad of custom stuff available, if you're keen. Cheap from AliExpress, takes 4-6 weeks to arrive usually..

        Hope this helps!

        • Thanks a lot ,mate. I didn't understand solids ( any link ? ) How it helps : what does that mean .

Is it okay if I keep 8 " tyres as of now. And how often did it get punctured M thanks heaps.

          • @potatochips: NP.

Touch wood - no punctures yet. The 8" are fine, just with 10's its a little quicker (larger rolling diameter) & adds a little more suspension to the ride.. 'Solids' are puncture free & solid (as the same suggests), there's heaps on AliExpress..

            e.g.
            Solids

            My mods…
Tyres Slight mods are required for rear wheel fitment.
            Ducktail - With light
            Brakes
135mm brake rotor I have the greyed out version, maybe no stock atm?..

I also have a few other minor mods like Silicon covers for Kick-stand, Brake handle & Dashboard..

            • +1

@Bunsen: Great info and links . I can't thank you enough, mate. Thank you

Solids : I would definitely be buying : what impact will it have like on average kms per 1 full charge?

Tyres : what impact does 10 inch tyre makes

How many kms do you get in one charge cycle ?

One more important thing if you can help : I am looking to buy a lock with bracket for scooter . Wish to see both Cheaper options and strong options.
              Thanks a lot ,mate.

Wow, I got my scooter already! Ordered it on Monday, they shipped it from Melbourne and received by Wednesday morning in Sydney. Insanely fast shipping and service.

    • Regular or express postage? Did you get a confirmation email with tracking? I’m in Melbourne and did regular 2 days ago, still waiting for confirmation email…

      • Regular post and yes, I did get a tracking email.

        • Are they still using Aramex?
If so, precovid, it took them 2 weeks to deliver mine from Melbourne to Sydney metro

Wow people just love debating. This is a deal on a scooter and for some reason we have people talking about lockdowns and just things that have no relevance. I swear, there could be a deal on a Hellokitty backpack and we will have people arguing about how the moon landing is fake.

  • +1

Hm to accompany this, I'll try go for this air compressor for the tyres: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002192128600.html

  • +1

I've tried to purchase this item but the code doesn't seem to be working

  • With all the comments here I'm curious to know if there's any recommended alternative with easier tyre replacement/servicing, and better suspension - or are you really looking at paying significantly more for something like that?

    • +1

The Zero 8 and 9 have suspension and split rims. Split rims are supposedly much easier to change the tires on. But they are $1000+.
I considered buying the Pro 2 or a Ninebot but I weigh 100kg and I wanted something quick with suspension.
I ended up buying a Dragon GTS V2. Nice suspension, duel motor but it is heavy at 25kg.

      • Very helpful, and a good place for me to start looking into options - thanks! Certainly a consideration where suspension would add weight, which would make it more cumbersome to carry around if need be.

        • +1

No worries. I’m still new to electric scooters. I purchased mine just for the sole purpose of having fun. If I was using it for commuting to work or the shops, I would of definitely gone with a more compact model.
Bear in mind I’ve never ridden another scooter except for the Dragon. While the dragon is super smooth on paved surfaces, going off road is still pretty jarring. I shudder to think how uncomfortable a scooter without suspension would be off-road.
It’s so much fun though. I’m glad I went with a duel motor. Turning on duel motor mode gives it so much more torque.
If you have a scooter shop near you, I would definitely recommend checking them out.
There’s a cool and interesting Whirlpool on scooters if you’re after more information.

Any gearbest rep here? The 10% off E10 code is no longer working!

    • I managed to get this item on their ebay listing instead and used an ebay code to get it at around $629 which is just slightly more than this deal.
