Another store is selling it for $179, can you match or beat it please?

    • +4

Now the rep will say but it's free delivery and you get free BONUS: SATA Cable & SSD Bracket.

These bonuses don't really add up to much.

      • Those bonuses are useless, certainly not worth the $20 extra. And as for delivery, many of us are near a centrecom store and don't need it.

        • i dont think there are any centrecoms in or near Sydney

    • Which store? I'd be happy to get it for that price.

    • +1

my eyes hurt from looking at this new web design :( i no likey and why can i only shop by BRAND NAME!!!!

    • +1

Looks like they have price matched it

    • +4

Sorry for the late reply, stepped out for a while. We have matched the price and kept the bonus cable and bracket.

  • 60 gig SSD?

  • +5

This new site looks terrible. Maybe green and black was appealing in 1999, but it definitely isn't now.

    • I think it's the MW3 heartbeat thingy well the green on black part.

  • +5

Yeah this web site design gave me cancer.

  • +1

WOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW i liked the old web design 10000000000000000000 times more then this one..

    • +1

It's still there; this is their new 'gaming' website. I don't see the point of it though.

    • I don't know/ remeber what the old site looked like but has to be better then this one. High school kids shouldn't design websites.

  • My eyes, that new websites hurts them!

  • -6

plenty cheaper elsewhere. 189 delivered here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/65533

    • ^Is rep for the other site and just changed the price, FYI.

      • +2

A rep who can change prices to match current deals = a good rep

        • +8

          We've listened! :)

  • -8

Same product has been posted twice in the last few days alone, both times with better price.

  • +2

Nice, centrecom just changed price to $179. They do listen.

    • +2

Agreed, but I will not buy on principle due to horrible site. The saving is just not worth the agony.

  • +6

Sorry for the late reply. With the new website launch we've been very busy.
We have now changed the price to compete with the other companies at $179 as well as keeping free shipping, free sata cable and free bracket.

    • -4

      jeez thats a good price!

**EDIT: Now selling mine under cost at 178 to get rid of the few i have left from at the start of the week.

      • +1

Does this include a free bracket and sata cable?

      • -1

sure why not. lol at all the negs.

        • Can't say I understand the negs either, perhaps they're from people who didn't follow on that centrecom changed the price after the above comments :/

      • rhys100, I think centrecom one is not the OEM one.

        • It says it's oem in the title.

        • yes. Thanks for that. Did not read properly.

    • +5

Really impressed with Centrecom price matching, providing free postage and the small little bonuses. I'm out in the sticks so the delivery is perfect for me.
      Have bought one. Thanks :)

EDIT: Found clicking on any links to be VERY slow, and adding to cart took forever. Paypal seems to be screwed as well (get an error when trying to use paypal… paypal gives the error).

  • +2

Do us a deal on the 240Gb versions!

  • +1

Is anybody else having issues attempting to pay via paypal (or is it just me)?

  • does not work via paypal, constant jScript errors, maybe they should test the site before launching a second rate service…

    • new website also does not email you when you signup for a username, have to send a "forgot my passowrd" request!

  • +1

Well done CenrteCom for coming to the party.

  • IS pick up available? cant find it at that price on normal centrecom website.

    • +1

No, sorry. This is an online exclusive only.

  • OP: just to be on the safe side, can you confirm that this SSD is downward compatible and will work as a replacement of a 4 year old SATA (not SATA 3) laptop drive? Same size as standard 2.5" HD and same connectors?
Edit: Also: what is your usual delivery time to Perth?

    • It'll work fine just at SATA speeds not SATA3 speeds

    • You'd be wasting yoru money your better off buying and older SATA2 or SATA SSD for alot less

      • Umm, any idea where you can get a 120gb ssd for less, even if it is sata2? There are a few of us out there looking.

      • Possibly, but not the way I plan to use it.
With that drive I would get 1 more year out of the old laptop, tiding me over the current generation of less than perfect ultrabooks. When the laptop finally gets replaced the dive will be used at full speed in a desktop with SATA3.

  • For returns and warranties, can we drop off at any Centrecom store, to avoid shipping fee?

  • Hi guys. We've struck an issue with our PayPal service. It should be back online soon. We'll update this when it's back online. Sorry for any inconvenience. Alternatively you can use the two other methods of payment (Back Transfer/Credit Card) or wait until it's back online. Thanks.

    • Can we choose bank transfer for now, then change to Paypal when it's back up?

    • You are currently not charging the 1% fee for postage insurance (even if selected) and the 2% fee for paypal transactions on this deal - is this intended, or is it merely another website snafu?

      • They are charging 2% fee for paypal, it showed up for me, did you manage to pay without the 2% fee?

  • When will this get sent out if I purchase tonight? Saturday or monday?

    • We do not dispatch items on weekends. It'll be Monday or Tuesday depending on demand.

      • Or not for a while. Currently my order is listed as "Awaiting stock" even though they still list the drive as Availble on their site. Sounds like they oversold.

  • -4

All this competition never thought theyd sell under cost. And yes i know for a matter of fact that they are selling under cost. They will prob post tuesday so they can get all there stock monday arvo/tuesday from victoria supplier. ^^

    • +3

      Sour Grapes?

      • +2

I probably won't shop at rhys100's store after seeing how he is behaving in this thread. No professionalism at all.

        • Any reseller will be miffed if another is selling at a price just to destroy competition. After competition's gone, it's back to "normal" prices. On the other hand, this is OzBargain where people don't care about any such longer-term ramifications.

        • -1

I agree, but they should be professional about it.

  • +1

    PAY-PAL IS FIXED!!

  • +4

You should really check the site review.. never seen anything so low for an online computing store..

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/centre-com.html

    • 2.4 average, not very good. But then MSY is only a tad better at 2.7. Where does that leave us with that drive? Any store with a great rating and a delivered price below $200?

      • but MSY isn't that great in service anyways lol.. only hard part is it is online which was reviewed really bad.. if its pick up guess wouldn't be too bad if u live near the store..?
dnno finding a good price is hard.. even in US it is about $200 without delivery..

can't find any very reliable stores under 210 even..

plus i wouldn't read the average.. read the most current reviews to give you better accuracy because remember, when a store first opens the service is always impeccable most of the time..

        • +3

In the end, it comes down to who you deal with. The online sales and front sales team are completely different and do not work together. The online team is a small team who strive to always do the best we can and will always listen to feedback as much as possible. On that review site, there are lots of mentions from a place called "Class A Audio Centre Com". This is not us or owned by us. I hope this clears some things up and show people that the Online Sales Team actually care about our customers.

        • australia really needs a newegg, you know a solid reliable computer parts store, seems like all of them are kinda small time.

        • MWAVE IS LOWER! at 2.3, and thats without OZB members making it even lower after their most recent failure.

        • +1

QUOTE: "there are lots of mentions from a place called "Class A Audio Centre Com". This is not us or owned by us."

According to MY research Class A Audio is owned by one of the main Centre Com guys brother "Kevin" and is the same address as Centre Com Nunawading run and owned by the same person.

And you dare to come here and pretend like Class A Audio is nothing to do with you ? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Credibility GONE! OP lies busted, thanks Centre CON! Care to REFUTE this OP?

Thanks for pointing out. It's always good to hear some different opinion.

    • Vocal minority.

Can anyone confirm that this is (statistically) better than the Crucial 128 SSD that pops up here every few weeks? Looks like it has much faster write speeds but would love someone to confirm this (260mb/s vs 500mb/s). Anything else needed to be known about the drive like if it needs a firmware update, reliability, etc??

Centre.com have been around for quite a while. Not saying they're good or bad just that they're not fly-by-nighters.

    • two of friends who are computer hardware nerds says Intel is solid.. the rate that is specified is what you get
history was that the first batch of intel wasn't so great.. it fluctuated every few seconds
but this time around they got it solid piece of hardware.

    • That Crucial and this Intel use 2 different controllers. The controller used in this drive (Intel 520) is faster with data that can be compressed, as it uses a proprietary on-the-fly compression system to improve speed. When there's a healthy mix of compressible data, this drive will generally out-perform the Crucial mentioned and most non-media (CD Rips, movies, photos) data transfer will include a mix of compressible files.

tl;dr of above: this drive generally performs better than the Crucial in typical usage scenarios.

Reliability / Warranty wise, Both drives are generally touted as being a reliable choice. Intel offers 5 years on these* and Crucial offers 3 on theirs. You'll be purchasing from overseas by buying from amazon so probably a bit longer to get the drive in your hands as a possible consideration.

      Hope that helps.

*I'm assuming the same warranty applies for OEM drives

  • +1

OP: one of the advantages of the Intel drive over Crucial and others is the warranty. But then the Intel website specifically mentions the 'boxed drives' as opposed to OEM drives. Can you confirm that the drives you sell come with the full 5 year Intel warranty?

  • +5

Oh man, its got wavy green COD lines on the screen, defs getting it now.

    • +1

Also has For Games with flames and shit. Means their shiz is uber l33t and over 9000

      • Too far bro.

        • -1

          thats what she said

  • I just got home and missed out on this deal :( are you going to be getting anymore in ???

  • From my understanding from whirlpool is: Intel SSD's - slower but safer.
Crucial SSD's - Faster but less reliable.

  • Sold out and I wanted one too :/

    • me threeeeee

      • +2

We're going to try on Monday to get more. We'll update everyone if we do. Keep a look out.

        • Any chance of a special on the 180GB or 240GB drives?

        • How's the progress on getting more stock going? Any updates?

    • My bank account gave a big sigh of relief though

Email this guy, has it for the same price.

      • -3

I'm sold out on 120's as well now mate. Only have 180's left at $294 delivered.

  • hey op, can you do an great deal on the 240GB? It would set you apart from most sellers as everyone is discounting 128 or 64GB but not so much the bigger sizes.

  • Loving the colour scheme of the new website.

However, I'm not a fan of searching for items via brand name.

  • I want 60 gig intel version, any good special on it?

  • I''d like to get Intel 520GB SSDas $179, but it is out of stock. When can I get this SSD?
