Cygnett iPad 2 Cases for $17.50 at Target (Fits New iPad but See Description)

360

I picked up the Cygnett iPad 2 case (black Lavish) for the new iPad from Target for $17.50. Retail is $60 but they were reduced to $35 and now half price to $17.50.

They are really nice cases available in black (Lavish) or beige or purple (Lavish Earth).

Only downside is the sleep/wake function doesn't work with the new iPad which is annoying. The sleep/wake sensors are in a slightly different position to the iPad 2 so some 3rd party cases won't sleep/wake the new iPad. The Apple smart cover still works ok.

I couldn't find the product on the Target site so I've just set the link to the products:

Cygnett have released a new Lavish Earth case range for the new iPad so I'll get one of these when the price is reduced:

  • I saw some half price covers at Dick Smith also. Maybe they are discounted for the reason you found … Wake function.

Thanks for the heads up on that.

Good value I guess if one just wants to protect it.

  • Good price. $65 at JB. thanks op.

  • nice deal,thanks
    btw,which store u went?!

  • Can you not just press the button to wake them up?

    • +1

Yep, but that brings up the slide to unlock…not a huge deal but it's a little more convenient to have the wake and sleep working with the case cover.

      • A responsible OzBargainer. GW, thanks for letting us know.

Yes Dicksmith has a few iPad2 accessories discounted by 50% at the moment. The Belkin slim stand case looks pretty decent at $20 except it doesn't have the magnet smart cover.

I ended up getting the new Belkin cinema folio case from JB, specifically designed for the iPad3, for $45.

I got the last one from Target Melbourne City store (Black).

It's a pretty tight fit with the new iPad, but I can confirm that the Sleep/Wake function does work with the new iPad. Because of the tight fit, the magnets aren't that strong holding the cover closed though.

Target city store still had heaps (50+?) of the Cygnett Glam cases going for $16. I think these are simply just HIGH glossy versions of the lavish, but I didn't get to open one to have a look. There was also heaps of the new Cygnett cases that I don't think anyone is buying. Cygnett unfortunately jumped the gun and labelled it iPad 2S.

    • I'll have to check out the new Cygnett ones and see if they are a good price - they didn't seem to have any stock when I checked.

And yep, the Glam cases are the high gloss versions of the cases.

  • bought 1 extreamly similar to this one from the Sale section of TYPO for 5 dollars, they only had like 5 left but checked again all gone (at highpoint, vic color black) but it does still feature in the website, thou it is white :(

Just bought one,its beautifull case and amazing price, thanks for posting :-)

  • Target Camberwell still has 6 beiges and 1 black left.. Thanks OP..

  • It appears that all cygnett cases are 50% off or maybe even all ipad 2 cases, not just the lavish. The lavish is the only one with the lower priced marked though. Just got the windsor for $25 even though the tag on it says $50.

    • I also bought one of the Windsor cases. Seems excellent for $25 - real leather. The sleep/wake works fine. I was able to try it out before buying.

    • Same, my Windsor magnets seem to lock my ipad fine. Great bargain :)

  • Chadstone are out of the black ones but there are a couple of the beige and about half a dozen of the purple ones left.

Great find and just when I need it, thanks OP!

Caroline Springs Target still has about 8 x tan and 4 x purple Lavish Earth, and 4 x black Lavish.
There are alss about 6 clear and 5 black Cygnett back protector that enhance the sound (forgot the name)
The Cygnett OpticClear screen protector also selling for $6 each.

  • 2 or 3 purple left in Target Morley (WA)

I bought one from target yesterday and the Sleep/Wake function doesn't work with with my new ipad 3. It looks like its luck of the draw to see if it will work or not. It depends on the POLARITY of the magnet.

    For more info.

    • Which Target store did you get it from?

      • Sorry I got the last ones.

        • He/she asked what store - say which store atleast so people won't rock up there if its sold out.

          Just a little tip

  • Does anyone know which Target store in Sydney have this? I went to Target Hurstville and Broadway both only have the silicone ones. I know someone got it from Rouse Hill but I prefer a closer one. Thanks.

  • Try Eastgardens, got one yesterday.

  • Rockdale Target has many Cases (20 more, $17.50 only) and three colours can be choice. I got a earth colour yesterday. The sleep/wake function works for new ipad if you push ipad a little harder when you put ipad in the case.

  • Just bought one from Malvern branch, sleep/wake function perfectly. Got the screen protector as well for $6, pretty happy with it.
They still have 3 purple and about 4 brown if you need one, just be sure to check the cover condition first, some of them already scratched badly.

  • I stumbled across this post a few days ago after getting a new iPad. Went to Target Rockdale yesterday and they had the lavish and lavish earth in stock. Mostly beige cases left. Still $17.50 and fits the iPad 3 perfectly. sleep/wake function works. The magnet isn't as strong when you close but will definitely do the trick. Thanks!
