You should see a doctor then…

      • +6

        For an examination?

        • +12

          Yes, free ones.

  • +1

I remember doing this last year and not getting an exam voucher even after completing a few of their challenges. Hopefully this year it actually works.

    • +6

you actually don't get it emailed to you anymore. You just schedule the eligible exam and you'll automatically have it in your account - otherwise, you'll need to confirm the email address you signed up for the training with to get it applied.

      • +1

        That's sounds right
" If you complete your challenge before it ends, one free Microsoft Certification exam will be associated with your Learn profile on December 7, 2021. You will be notified via email when it becomes available."

If i get paid to design pamphlets with pictures of yoga and dogs to reel in elderly women, would this help me on my journey or would it send me spiralling further into inadequacy

    • +12

      Seek help.

      • Why? They are really nice pamphlets

    • +1

Maybe find better ways to attract elderly women. I suggest you sign up for for some ball room dancing classes. You don't get paid upfront but the payout might be huge.

      • Noted, thanks

    • +2

This will help you find a new journey.

      • I'm excited. Pamphlets in a whole new world!

  • I know this question will be subjective, but what would be the most useful out of all of these? Opinions please! (I know it's all varied interests, but some of these sound like a "nice to have" vs professional skill building)

    • As a starting point, I think AZ-104/204 since I believe it allows you to get a MCSE certification

      • Thanks for the starting point, mate! I know Microsoft Azure is still taking off hard considering cloud computing is basically the future. I reckon it might be the one to have…

      • havent looked into MCSE for few years, is it still well received and still a zillion dollars to do… Hm 1 free exam gets you donuts really….

        • I think they've simplified things and you don't need to pass that many exams to get MCSE. I don't even know if they are still using the nomenclature MCSE, and can't find their various certification pathway.
I was planning to sit 104/204 last year and in my notes it says that would give me 2 MCSA and automatically grant MCSE DevOps, but don't know if they changed that now.

@ShouldIBuyIt: March 26, 2020. All remaining exams associated with Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) will retire on January 31, 2021

…. we’ve added a total of 34 certifications to our portfolio across Azure, Modern Workplace, and Business Applications.

            How to make money

            • +6

@pharkurnell: Before it took up to 7 exams to get a certification, now you can be a Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate with a single exam and they're constantly throwing out free vouchers. I think the way to make money is to get as many people trained and certified with your product so they have incentive to push its use rather than with the exams directly.

              • +1

@Daff: The certification only last for 1 year now, it used to be 2 years.

              • @Daff: Yeah I'm think technically we aren't supposed to use MCSA/E on our business cards anymore.

It was around 3-4 exams to meet the requirement.

But if you are working with MS stack experience is worth more than the entry level certs.

              • @Daff:

Before it took up to 7 exams to get a certification,

Pretty much why I never bothered.

    • +1

It really depends on what you're goals are. If you're in IT and a junior sys admin or helpdesk and want to break out, i'd recommend AZ-104. If you're happy in helpdesk, i'd recommend MS-700 and MD-100. Most of the others are fairly specialized.

    • +1

It would all depend on what you already know.

      Server? networking? etc…

      • I've dabbled in a bit all over the place tbh. No formal learning or certs, but I really want to get into IT - probably the security side or software development. There seems to always be a demand for either. I am extremely tech savvy and learning computer/IT stuff comes very naturally to me.

I know it's a generic answer but it's the best I can explain it.

        • +3

I'd start with az900, it's not on this list but you can get free video training on the MS learn website.

        • Thank you @Daff and @ShouldBuyIt !

I'll look into that asap, then maybe follow up with either AZ-104/204 as suggested above. :)

          You all are absolute champions.

          • +2

@w33w00: Check your PM I will send you a link to free AZ900 course

          • +2

@w33w00: You can get a free voucher for the AZ-900 just by signing up for a MS Azure Virtual Training Day

I did Azure exams recently and Microsoft sent me a heap of 'swag'. Mostly just Microsoft branded products like a Polo shirt and water bottle. Can't complain.

    • I'm guessing that you have to pass to get it?

      • Yeah and it was something I actually won. There's a few different packs and sometimes even $$$ to be won.

  • Is there any learning content provided with the ability to take the exam? If not how would you go about studying for it?

  • +1

Can you do 2 exams using two separate accounts?

  • What do they mean by completing a challenge?
Is that just watching one session?

    • +1

Under the 'Learning Zone' header is a 'Cloud Skills Challenge' which has a bunch of Challenges at the bottom.

  • Has anyone received their exam voucher yet?

    • Not yet. They don't normally email you, it'll just be applied to your account

      • All good, finally received my confirmation email.

    • You’ve linked back to the same page?

  • Looks like you can't register anymore and had to do it before the 4th November. Shame.

Edit: Looks like you can still do challenges though? https://csc.docs.microsoft.com/ignite/registration/fall2021
