      • Perfect, thanks!

I bought software license paid via PayPal and still got CRO rewards, so maybe paypal is different

          • @aboutconfig: It also depends what category code your biller is actually using - you only won't get cashback if they're using the exact category code that's on the blacklist…

  • has anyone recieved their physical card. yet recieved an emails aying it was shipped out a week ago. still hasn't arrived yet

    • havent received yet. also still waiting for my 2000 bucks refund which seems to have disappeared. Its been 2 weeks

      • +1

        holiday season takes time guess

    • I received mine a few days ago.

      • The closer to Melbourne you are the sooner you’ll get it I reckon.

  • Tanking.. Prices down across the board, hmm

    • Time to buy.

      • Was thinking that perhaps

      • -1

What is my comment on the 30th of Nov again lol :)
Its well and truly on track .

  • With the $36 Lounge Pass credit, do you have to spend with your Visa card and then get reimbursed? Or do they give you a voucher to use for that amount once you present your card at the cafe/restaurant?

Would you be able to use the credit and visit the lounge on the same day?

    • +1

You present your card at the beginning and as long as you spend less than AUD$36 per person, there won't be any charge.

You can go to as many restaurants and lounges as you want in one day.

Not sure what the specific timing is if you want to visit the same restaurant again – some say 2 hours from initial swipe or 24-hour rule depending on the restaurant – I haven't been able to confirm myself. Don't think there is a time restriction for lounges though.

  • These physical cards are taking ages. Apparently they can re-send if you 'don't receive it' after five weeks. May just ask again see if they can send out the Jade one then.

  • Has anyone received the Australian Jade physical card yet?

    • I think a few have, anyone in Melbourne should have their card and then those further away will take a week or 2 more.

    • On Reddit most say that it's about 15 business days from when it says shipped

    • Still don't even have the Ruby one
Another $70 is bloody rude when you're staking$5knfor six months with them
Online purchases don't even work with the virtual card, the two times I've tried. Useless crap

      • +1

I’ve been able to use the virtual card ok so far. There’s some places which don’t let you pay with prepaid visa but most places have worked for me.

Just check that you have enough funds in the card and also if you’re buying from online, enable the international purchase option in the app

        • yes, International on, and enough funds
I would have thought Myer would be ok

  • I'm new to crypto and signed up for this a few weeks ago - got my ruby card a couple days ago. Looking to use this to hold BTC (about 5% of my portfolio) and TAUD (use to top up card) - both of these i'd just be putting in Earn. Any CRO I earn would be turned into BTC/TAUD depending on fees. Does this make sense or is there a cheaper platform for buying BTC? Just liked the convenience of keeping it altogether.

    • What's the advantage of taud, more pairing options? Can't even find it in the app or in binance

  • Anyone else get charged USD$1 to active Loungekey and not have this refunded? It was processed back on 4th Dec, would have expected it to be reversed or for the charge to drop off but it has actually posted and the amount is missing from my account. Put in $20 AUD now shows $18.57 AUD after the $USD$1 Loungekey charge.

    • I got charged that too and asked support. They advised it will be reimbursed but as always with CDC it could take a while.

    • I have a number of $1 charges from the likes of Telstra. Looks like I have to fight to get them back.

      • Binge? Even if it's a Buck for the trial is reasonable

  • Can anyone give me a little run down (or point me in the direction) of the tax implications of using this card? And also on the implications when you are rebated CRO for Spotify etc..

      • Thank you.

So for the purposes of loading and using the card with FIAT funds there is no tax implacations?

However, the tax implication occurs at the time you dispose of the CRO earned via the cashback?

        • +1

No longer at the dispose time. Now as soon as you earn it, its your gain, a tax event

          • @aboutconfig: I see. Well in that case, once the CRO earnt from rewards is disposed there would be no tax implications given that you would calculated the tax based on the value at the time of time of earning?

        • There is tax on cashback.

People that keep saying taxes on cashback "Thanks for your donation".

          • @rektrading: EDIT

There is NO tax on cashback.

            • +3

@rektrading: I'm not paying tax on cashbacks
I also bet nobody would for flybuys and all the other programs.

Is it better to get cashback in AUD or CRO?
Is refund currency option I assume.

        • +2

My understanding, was the same as the article linked by SharkBait

"The received coin/token from rebates is not taxable at the time of receipt. However, they are subject to capital gains/losses at dispositions"

If you sell the tokens as soon as you get them, your CG should be close to zero.

          • @idjces: Cashback in AUD shouldn't attract anything though?
Guess will sort it out at tax time with Koinly.

Still don't have heaps of faith in cryptos in general, some people will make heaps, most may lose money. Guess will stick with the long term approach (ie hold at least for a year), but it's mostly a yo-yo, and lucky to keep the balance up to what I've put in. Paying too high buy prices in the past haven't helped but good to buy more of a few when they are cheap. Just need a few outsiders that go off but by the time you hear about them it's usually too late.

        • If i use the CROs for Coles gift cards etc do you still need to pay tax on this since its for goods? it would be similar to switching points to gift cards?

EDIT: it appears it does according to the link. Doesn't seem as attractive then if I get taxed, I'd rather just get 2% back from HSBC card (tax free) and then anything that I can't use my HSBC card for then use this CRO card but not sure if it's worth the trouble of trying to figure out all the tax implications and reports etc

          • @Bluey123: We shouldn’t get taxed as there is no tax on frequent flyer points for example.

            • @bobwokeup: Yes don't worry about that, no tax on flybuys, everyday rewards and other cashbacks

              • @G-rig: Please speak to your accountant before making incorrect assertions - there is absolutely capital gains tax to pay when you eventually sell the cashback CRO !

                • @Nom: Yeah just don't sell it.
Koinly is a good tool come tax time.

So what about everyday rewards, flybuys, 28 degrees price protection claims? Certainly not claiming them.

                  • @G-rig:

                    Yeah just don't sell it.

If you're never ever going to sell, then you aren't going to be able to make much money from your crypto investments 😁

So what about everyday rewards, flybuys

                    What about them ?
They're treated exactly the same - not taxable income at the time of receipt 👍

                    • @Nom: Ha I should say, long-term for now
Some wins will cancel out other small losses when the time comes if want to get out of any. It's all a yoyo anyway so we'll see.

Anyway good to hold stuff for a year for a 50% CGT reduction, time in the market is good.

                    • @Nom: Just thinking about your comment again

They're treated exactly the same - not taxable income at the time of receipt 👍

With that logic if you converted the cashback in CRO to AUD straight away you wouldn't be eligible for CGT right? The fact that they are low-ish amounts, factor in fees and potential missed compounding CRO then I can't imagine anyone would, just testing the theory.
Agoda dollars are another example, no one would claim those on tax.

  • I've received my CRO Visa today after applying for it a few weeks ago. CRO seem to exclude several merchant categories from the cashback as per https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/4597450-restriction-of-c…. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with what merchants aren't compatible with the CRO cashback (eg Woolies/Myer gift cards online/instore). It may be trial and error otherwise. From my experience:

    No rebate paid:
    - AGL

    CRO rebate paid
    + Spotify Family

    • All insurance providers so far are excluded.

  • Revived my card today in Brisbane and so did my mate on the Gold Coast.

  • Finally received my card as well but I don’t carry a wallet so it’s not much good for me ha ha bring on Apple Pay… I might be waiting a while!!

  • Cro not going so well but none of the coins are really lol
Doesn't seem to drop much below 73c so here's hoping.
Not sure who said will go to $2 lol, maybe in 10y.

Has anyone confirmed cashback on things like utilities payments, rents, mobile/phone bills etc?
The list states a few exclusions, not exactly that explicit but insurances etc aren't covered.

    • internet bill yes, no on other utilities.

      • Ta

    • +1

Received for Superloop and Belong. Not for WinConnect or South East Water.

      • Cheers for that. Is gas considered a utility? They aren’t government entities so is utilities just water and electricity?

        • It just depends what the provider's billing code is as classified by Visa. My gas is provided as part of an embedded network through WinConnect, so I definitely don't get "CRO-back" on gas.

          • @Kedd: So if I ask the gas company for the billing code will they give it to me?

            • @bobwokeup: I just paid once with the card to confirm. Much more definitive of an answer. You could try partially paying your bill with the card.

    • I bought a phone in Telstra store and didn't get any cashback, so even the whole store must be treated like a bill.

  • Paid for camping today on one of the RAC parks and wasn’t sure if I’d get CRO back as they mainly do insurance but it worked.

  • Shiny new card showed up :)

Is there any method that would allow us to add the card to a mobile pay app, like Google Pay, Samsung Pay?

Or any creative workarounds? I haven't delved into whether we can use foreign services like Curve

    • Not supported in Aus yet

  • So my new card was frozen today with no explanation

The support page says they’ll respond in average 20 minutes

For me it’s been over 10 hours

I wanted to use the card for the Boxing Day sakes and my Netflix was due today so I had to pay using another card, so I’ve missed that benefit

    Not good

  • How to change card base currency from SGD to AUD? When I signed up there was no AUD card. Also, how do I upgrade from Ruby to Jade?

    • Have to hit up support in the app, might take a bit of time for them to get back to you

    • +1

Ruby to Jade - go to Crypto Wallet, there should be an option to Upgrade.

Re SGD to AUD, AFAIK SGD card users aren't getting the AUD cards for now. They said they'll update their social media with more info when this is possible - this was their last response when I asked a month or so ago.

    • I started a chat with support when the aus cards began being issued, managed to get mine changed to an AUD card and arrived a few weeks ago!

I'd upgraded to ICY from indigo and had to pay the $50 to have the Icy issued or they'd have sent me an indigo for free, sucks when they had to issue me a new card anyway.

      • What did you say to get changed to AUD? I've asked and they said wait for more info..

Yeah pretty dumb to charge you for the fee if they are going to send a new card anyway.

        • The old card still works on upgrades and the increased cashback works etc.

Annoying staking all that and upgrading but still expected to pay $70. In didn't bother, will wait til it gets lost or something.

I should have just waited a bit longer and said the card never arrived, after 5w they could sent a new one. Took over 3w anyway.

          • @G-rig: I figured they were replacing my SGP card for free, I'd be able to get the upgraded card for free considering they hadn't issued them yet. But nope so just paid it and moved on.

        • November 15:

Hi, I just upgraded my CRO stake to Icy White/Rose Gold and I would like to upgrade my Crypto.com Visa card.

The rep started the process that day with ID verification, address etc.

          • @Soluble: Yeah no matter how many chats with them they all insisted have to pay $70 (this was for the upgraded Jade card).

  • Which platform has the highest staking % for BNB? Is there any platform that is higher than Trust Wallet for staking BNB?

    • I’d like to know that too. Trust Wallet is only 9.65% and I’m sure it was higher a few months ago.

Also does it lock in when you stake?

  • Is there any risk moving coins from crypto to their wallet app?

    • +1

As far as I’m aware the only risks are choosing the wrong network or entering the wrong Wallet address. I’ve done heaps of them in the last year and never lost anything as I always double check before doing anything.

      • My mate stuffed up a trust wallet transfer the first time.. suggest testing out a small amount the first time I.e $10

      • Thanks. Looking for hardware wallets for long term solution.

  • This popped up on a news feed

Hopefully doesnt go lower than 50c

  • VVS rubbish, looks like it's going to nothing..
I mean they're all down but still ..

    • I bought some because of the comments in this thread

      • waste of time lol

I not sure Matt Damon being part of a cheap 100 million advertising campaign going to save your a$$ es .
But I think spending 700 million on naming LA Staples centre Crypto isa bit rich .
Nice of you guys to contribute .

  • All the people complaining about the value of the CRO dropping need to rethink the purpose of the card.

A 50% drop in CRO which has happened since November ( at the worst point ) is a WIN for card holders. It means twice the CRO cashback.
You have to treat the card buy in as a long term investment. Keep your CRO staked forever ( or a number of years at least ). The cashback and CRO rewards will end up being of more value and HOLD those rewards, HOLD THEM. Do not withdraw, Eventually you will have thousands of CRO in rewards alone and one day the price be CRO will be $5 or more. That's when you cash out your rewards and the original investment is paid off, plus you still have the card and benefits to come.

    • Yeah generally agree no point ever selling when the market is down anyway, good to use the card for its intended purpose and collect those CRO for years.
I mean when you eventually do sell them even in 20y will still have to pay capital gains tax then.

I still prefer to use my 28d for any electronics and other decent purchases likely to see a price drop in a year as you can get heaps more back

    • All the people complaining about the value of the CRO dropping…

…should look at a longer period of time.

It's still up 250% on 6 months ago.

  • hard to run a purchase through paypal the other day, sometime i've found it doesn't work.
Just a tip. Aliexpress could be on the blocked list but has worked for some people i think

  • In order to complete a lunar new year task. I’m Sending 2 cro to everyone who pm me.

  • I'm in the process of transferring all my regular payments over to the Crypto.com card. Can anyone confirm whether Telstra Internet payments will be eligible for Cashback?

    • Mine from the Tesltra store didn't, so I wouldn't like your chances.

      • I tend to agree. Just ran a test on my Pet Insurance with Woolworths and it didn't give me anything either, so I won't bother trying Telstra.

        • Insurance is a definite no as it’s on the website but I thought Telstra would work. Maybe they’re using the wrong MCC code?

          • @bobwokeup: I thought there was a thread started somewhere listing all the success and failures people were having with certain vendors, anyone remember if that was the case. Eventually I will work out everything that I can move over but seeing where others have tried and succeeded\failed would help speed up the process.

            • @danield: It might be across a few threads?

I found that anything government related and insurance are the 2 big ones. Nearly all physical items you buy are good. I haven’t had many knock-backs but like others have suggested try a small amount first if it’s a big purchase or you’re not sure.
