What to get for $1200 Work Allowance for Headphones, Mouse and Keyboard + 2 Monitors

I work as a Support Engineer and just started today
I got a $600 allowance for mouse keyboard and headphones for work
Can you link good options or deals for me to buy?
Mouse and keyboard prefer Bluetooth or wireless
Headphones just need to be comfortable, wired us ok with good microphone will do. Need good mic quality for calls

I need 2 monitors roughly around $300 each to use for extra screens
This is separate from the other $600 and I just send the link for manager to buy

Why the downvote? Still a decent pair of headphones, can probably find them brand new under $250 on Gumtree or FB Marketplace, or under $200 or so used.

      • Think its someone randomly downvoting as SBOB comment and 2 of mine got -1

If you have to use the headphones for actual calls I would say the Sony's are not the best choice.
They work (i use them), but the call quality of my voice at the other end isnt the best.

    • Good point, using a clipon mic defeats the wireless purpose. Yes I will be doing calls so will consider wired

Haven't had complaints from anyone at work using my QC35 headphones in terms of hearing me

    • Yes, will consider it but I feel more secure with a protruding mic

    • Looks right on for price thanks

  • Ive got both the QC35 and the XM3's.
Would definitely prefer the QC35. The XM3's have flakey bluetooth multipoint pairing, I have to manually disconnect from the current device, hold the button down to go into pairing mode, then re pair my phone every time I want to switch between devices. Also, you cant use the eq settings in the app to cancel out the over emphasised bass when using the 'high quality' streaming mode. QC35 is also more comfortable for me at least.

Not sure on the monitors, but id recommend something big enough for its resolution so you can leave windows display scaling at 100%. Reason for this is when you need to remote desktop into servers you can run into issues with how the OS you're connecting to handles scaling, especially when you need to connect to some clients old windows server 2008 VM.

Dunno what phone you’re using, but you shouldn’t need to go into pairing mode every time? Just go to your list of Bluetooth devices, pick the XM3s, then it should automatically disconnect from the current device and connect to your phone. Or use NFC to connect every time if your phone has that.

      • Yep, but the currently connected device holds the connection even when trying to connect with the new one (doesnt automatically disconnect the currently connected device and the connection fails). Using an iphone xs max and a 2012 macbook. Works fine with the bose though.

    Item Cost
    Dell S2721DS x 2 $600
    Jabra Evolve 75 $300
    Logitech G502 Lightspeed $165
    Whatever keyboard you like $50-200
    Total $1115 - $1200

You could get a nice $200 mechanical, standard $50 Microsoft or $100~ ergonomic keyboard.

    Do you need a webcam?

    • No I don't the laptop one is fine
