  • Is there any way to replace the credit card payment of an existing order to include these gift cards?

(other than cancelling my existing order and place a new order… as that will mean I'll only get the MBP in December instead of next week)

(I ordered a MBP a few weeks ago and put my credit card in… now tried to "change" my order payment but there doesn't seem to be an option to do that…?)

    • you need to cancel your existing order. Well worth it: I got $350 worth of Woolworths shopping.

Got 34,000 rewards points today from $1800 worth of gift cards. Converted to Qantas FF which adds up to 17,000.

    • That doesn’t make sense.

If you bought $1800 worth of Apple gift cards, you should have received 36,000 Everyday Rewards points, because the offer is for 20x points per dollar spent.

  • I just picked $2100 worth cards & got 42000 points . Hope that's correct

  • Thanks all,

Was able to get 6 x $500 at one Woolworths (probably could have got 8 if I had asked, guy was really helpful) and 2 x $500 at another.

No dramas! $400 off my next shop.

Combined with the Student Edge link above, I have just ordered:

14-inch MacBook Pro — Space Grey
    With the following configuration:
Apple M1 Max with 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine
    32GB unified memory
    1TB of SSD storage
    96W USB-C Power Adapter
    14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display
Three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI port, SDXC card slot and MagSafe 3 port
Backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID — US English
    Accessory Kit

    A$ 4,175 less $400 Woolworths vouchers = $3,775. Saving $875 from retail.

  • Thanks all :)

Just wondering if you could use these apple gift cards to purchase an i phone from the apple store online ?

    • +4

      Yes.

Plenty of people have successfully done that since Apple launched the Apple gift card in Australia in July.

I believe the only services or products from Apple that you cannot pay for using Apple gift cards or an Apple Account Balance are:

      • Purchases of new Apple gift cards.
      • Purchases of gifts for other Apple ID accounts (e.g. gifting a paid app to someone else).
      • Purchases of AppleCare+ coverage (24 months upfront) through the Apple website.

Someone commented a couple of days ago that they were able to buy AppleCare+ at a physical Apple store using an Apple gift card, so that may work if you're interested in AppleCare+ for your iPhone.

Also, you may or may not be able to pay for the monthly subscription of AppleCare+ using Apple gift cards or Apple Account Balances. One person recently told me they could, and another person told me they couldn't.

        Thanks for the detailed answer.

        • Monthly AppleCare+ subscription payments come from your Apple ID account same as any other subscription or app payment so no reason you can't use the gift card balances to pay.

          • @MrMaxwell: You've glossed over the fact that an Apple gift card or Apple Account Balances (according to its terms and conditions) has the following restrictions on its usage:

Physical and digital Apple gift cards and codes (including the Apple Gift Card) and Associated Balances are, collectively, “Gift Cards”.

You can use your Gift Cards to purchase content, apps, and services (collectively, “Content”) from Apple Media Services and items (“Products”) from Apple Retail Stores, Apple online stores, and the Apple Store App.

However, AppleCare+ is not from Apple Media Services.

Additionally, if you sign up to AppleCare+ as a monthly subscription similar to Apple Music, Apple TV+, etc, you are not doing that through Apple Retail Stores, Apple online stores, or the Apple Store App.

Therefore, the terms and conditions do not explicitly permit you to use Apple Account Balances to pay for a monthly subscription of AppleCare+.

The reason I said you may not be able to use Apple gift cards or Apple Account Balances is:

            • Some people (including this person and this other person) are only allowed use a debit/credit card to pay for AppleCare+ on a monthly basis.
            • However, this person also recently witnessed their friend pay for AppleCare+ using an Apple Account Balance.

I suspect Apple tried to made changes on 05 Oct to stop people using Apple Account Balances to pay for AppleCare+ monthly balances, but the changes have been inconsistent, so YMMV.

@WookieMonster: Don't need to type so many words, I called them before, they said it should work, if not working online, take it to Apple store they will do it for you.

            • +3

@WookieMonster: I should've included the fact I have a credit loaded on my Apple ID and my AC+ subscription is being deducted from that…so it works fine!

              • +1

@MrMaxwell: It works for monthly, but not upfront. If you want to buy two year coverage and pay with physical gift cards (Not ID balance) you need to go in store within 60 days.

              • @MrMaxwell: Did you purchase AppleCare+ before 05 Oct, or from 05 Oct onwards?

                • +1

@WookieMonster: I purchased 2 years after the 05 Oct via support app. Had to use credit card, Apple ID balance wasn’t an option.

  • So if I get a couple $500 ones is there just a credit applied to my everyday rewards meaning I can just spend that on groceries?

    • Yep.

If you get 2x $500 gift cards, you’ll have to pay $1,000 upfront, but you’ll get 20,000 Everyday Rewards points, which is equivalent to $100 in Everyday Rewards dollars. You can redeem them on most items (e.g. groceries) at Woolworths (or if you prefer, BIG W, BWS or participating EG / Caltex Woolworths locations), but it can only be redeemed on future transactions.

You can redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars across multiple transactions in multiples of $10, so don’t panic if you see a message like “Congratulations, you have saved $100 on your next shop!”on the checkout screen when buying the Apple gift cards.

      • What if I buy 1 $500 gift card, get the point straight away and spend it on another $500 gift card and so on? Would gift cards not be eligible?

        • +1

If you get a $500 gift card, you will earn 10,000 Everyday Rewards points (equivalent to $50 in Everyday Rewards Dollars), and those points should be credited to your Everyday Rewards account as soon as the checkout activates the gift card for you (which is usually a few seconds after you finalise payment for the gift card).

You cannot use Everyday Rewards Dollars to purchase any gift cards at Woolworths unless:

          • the gift card you are purchasing will earn Everyday Rewards points (which only happens if you are buying a gift card with a bonus points deal), and
          • the bonus points from the gift card purchase will push your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance over the balance limit (which is currently set at $4,500, or 900,000 Everyday Rewards points).

(You can read more about it here.)

        • No, you cannot use the reward credit or gift card to buy another gift card at Wooli.

  • Do I have to activate anything in the Woolworths rewards app?
