    How is the encryption implemented?

If it's hardware dependent, which I suspect it is (because it's OS/software independent), buy two docks. Because I'd say there's a high chance the dock itself will fail.

Seems to be software dependent according to this:

        Huh?

"What makes this a lot more handier than encryption software is that the device is completely software independent… users should have no problems swapping their encrypted hard drives between multiple platforms, i.e. Windows, Mac and Linux, without the need for additional software."

      How is the encryption implemented?

      It's Top Secret.

The LockDock will also come with anti-virus software of its own

Multiple layers of security theatre in a single device - impressive!

Nothing worse than anti-virus software that can't be tamed and/or updated.

Some of us store things we know are safe but will make an AV go mental.

      • I just love visiting clients who used default settings on their AV and had their entire email database from the past fifteen years erased because one attachment contained a virus.

can this just work as a usb to hdd/ssd reader?

    • Yes it does

    $15 encryption… Hmmm….

    • +2

      Any mention of decryption?

      • You want decryption? $150 extra

Got mine today - very interesting product…. unsure exactly how the 'encryption' works. But it has a nice voice which lets you know what it happening, can measure disk temp, on-time etc.
Allows you to either operate it normally like a standard USB enclosure, or erase the disk and use it 'encrypted' with a PIN code….. unsure how this works, and it seems to do it quite quickly on a 500GB drive so again unsure what it actually does to encrypt it, cool toy….probably wouldn't trust the encryption part with anything important though lol

  • I ordered 2 of them, arrived yesterday, but both does not power on. Not sure what's wrong with it. Wasted money……
