R/C car for 4yo

Any tips on reliable, strong, long lasting and easy to use R/C car for a 4yo?

My kid is obsessed with his older brothers one, but can't work that one. I'm hoping someone knows a good (not $10cheapo) one that will work well with a 4yo.

      nice.

My guess is a RC car.

But could be a Remote Control too.

Not sure bout OP but $100 for a 4yo is kinda too much for me.

  • I don’t know of a particular one but something with big, easy to decipher buttons to control it. Kids don’t have the dexterity skills at that age to use older ones so will struggle with getting them to work u less they’ve got big buttons

  • You don't want anything fast as the kid needs to learn control, I would suggest more of the rock-crawler variety

Tend to run longer on a charge also because they aren't tearing around at high speed.

    • none of those shortened links work?

      • Dang

Just links to RC rock crawlers on Bangood and Catch.
Do a google shopping search for "RC Rock Crawler" set site:.au and an upper price of say $80 bucks, you get heaps of hits.

  • Any decent one with a decent remote would be fine, your can program the throttle end points on them. My 4 year old can drive my Losi 8t, just set it to 10% max throttle. That way, as they get older and/or better at controlling it, you can turn up the speed with them, rather than having to buy a new one.

  • Silverlit Exost ones. I have one I bought overseas for my kid, can run on top of water and it’s great. Very tough and sturdy exterior.

Three important data points which might help us help you:

    • Indoor, outdoor or both? ie How much space has kiddo got to work with? If outdoor - flat open surface or off-road?
    • How developed are kiddo's fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination? ie a determinate of speed, an appropriate control interface and even battery choice (so he can DIY charge)
    • Budget
  • 4 yr old with attention span of few minutes - a $20-50 one would be fine.

  • I bought my 1yo this one
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/remote-control-1-16-super-sp…

They started learning to use it but then they smashed it. So i bought another.
they could make it go forward and backwards.

Its good because it uses AA batteries and its idle drain is pretty much zero so you dont have to charge it much at all.

Then i bought them some different AA ones whose link i cant find (also from bigw or kmart) and they drain the battery a lot when not in use. So i stopped using them as RC cars.

buy that one i sent the URL too. because its AA you can control how fast it goes by giving it discharged batteries. They take a good bashing too, but .. over 3 months of bashing they broke.

  • Hello, you can take a look here. They have a wide range of choices. My husband has bought one for our child's birthday and they are playing now together.
