Flying Business to Europe, Using Points?

I'm looking at flying to Europe in July/August with my family (wife, 4yo, 8 month old).
Now, it's really quite expensive, but points seem to work out much better.

Can I buy Qantas points and convert them to Qatar miles and then use those to book the flights? Sorry, I'm trying to work it out, but I can't get the Qatar calculators to work.

According to my maths the 8 month old is not even born yet.

Clearly, I've got proof that I've got a newborn as my simple arithmetic is way off! :D
      Make that 10/11 month old.

your story is falling apart—what reason are you really going to europe for? ^__^

  • You can't convert Qantas to Qatar miles. If you want to fly with Qatar, you need to book through Qantas to Doha then from Doha to your European city. I got lots of points, want to buy them off me :)

  • Look at the Classic points section for Qantas. If you want to fly Qatar you will need to tailor which city you come into.

    • Thanks, I'll have a look.
      It's Frankfurt I'm after.

      • Looking at the Classic Points there do appear to be Qatar flight from Sydney to Frankfurt for, roughly, 160,000 points, one way, and about $400 - $600 fees.

        Just play around with dates

  • Just booked business class flights to Europe dep July return Aug. 375k points + $1000 pp.

    It's possible.

I got emirates and etihad though, not Qatar.

    • Why so much points ?

      • Australia to Singapore then on to Europe, that's how it was priced on this occasion, a few extra points compared to preCovid days
