Advice - selling $1.2k PC monitor

Hi Ozbarginers,

I managed to be the super lucky one who won this giveaway (0.05% chance to win!) - https://gleam.io/LJwtc/win-an-msi-nxg253r-fhd-360hz-gsync-hd…
I don't need a monitor and I'm looking for advice on how to sell it.
Its $900ish on amazon and $1.2k on pc case gear and scoptec. I've asked if they'd consider a swap or cash out/store credit, but I doubt they'll go for that.

Any advice, tips on price, where to sell it etc. If you've had exp on ebay or larger marketplace/gumtree sales that'd be helpful too

Cheers,
Mop

Edit - the store wouldn't swap or exchange. Any tips on how much you'd charge?

Just dont sell it during a DELL deal or Ebay sale.

I won a samsung watch a few years back, just sold it for slightly below retail on ebay as brand new and took the hit on postage and fees, was sold in less than a day.

    • I see plenty of scam stories selling on ebay. Any advice based on your experience?

Accept Paypal only. Shipping insurance on item. Tracking + signature on delivery.
I have been selling for 7 years. No issues so far.

        • Alternatively Paypal + self collect.

          • @notfrodo: From what I've read, Paypal are best for buyers, worst for sellers with the whole chargeback thing. I'm glad that's not been your experience though

            • @ImopI: Paypal chargebacks are not automatic. It goes through a dispute resolution process and additionally if you have seller protection, it is hard to be scammed.

Yes, dont use ebay or paypal..

Cash in person or tell ya story walkin'

      • Always ship including tracking. The way ebay is setup now they take the payment themselves directly and then transfer the money to your bank account within a few days minus the fees.

    Nice score.
Gumtree or Facebook marketplace, local pickup and cash only.
eBay is expensive, you could try the list to eBay through gumtree and pay only 30 cents, but it's a bit of a hit and miss so maybe not a good idea. Also have to factor in shipping costs which I'd imagine not be cheap for a monitor. Also the small chance of being scammed though it's pretty unlikely

    • You can make the buyer pay shipping etc. I've got no idea with that stuff so I'm tempted toward your first suggestion. Thanks :)

Buyers consider the overall cost and will factor in the cost of shipping.
This will impact how much you'll get in the end.

    eBay.

24.5" monitors are pretty easy to ship with AU post or Sendle will pick it up. You may want to insure it for ten bucks or so.

    • Do you have any experience or advice on how to do that safely? Seems folks are suggesting steer clear of ebay for the seller scams

Gumtree. Pickup only. Cash only. No bank transfers. No posting it to somebody.

    Going for $900 new
    I'd ask $750 for a quick sale.
