This is wired as well as wireless. Which is good when batteries are not recharged.
I reckon wireless will last longer simply because there is less to break in normal use. No fragile plug in point. Forgetting they are plugged in and moving/walking away from the PC or whatever they are plugged in to will break the cable connector everytime.
The sound on these will be more than good enough for kids.
The soft point may be the microphone, it's hard to pick up speech as it's positioned well away from his/her mouth. Maybe she/he needs to shout?
