I am currently on 12 mth Boost plan which expires end of Jan.. If I want to take up a special promo for 'new' customers what will I have to do? Port out to another provider and then port back into Boost??

Is there a minimum time that I have to wait before Boost will consider me a 'new' customer?

    • +1

Yep port in and out normally takes 5-10min each way

  • Boost forced me to change plan from $150/12 month to their new $200/12 month. Another problem is their new app is still not working. How do I know when to recharge or how much data I am using? This is ridiculous.

    • Works fine for me

    • If you are using Android just downloading my boost apk. It worked for for me.

      • From the Google app Store? It won't install on my Android 11.

    • Be very careful when app is not working. I had same issue. I purchased add on extra data as I have few days left before my plan expires. It was showing the data from my previous plan and the add-on data I have wasn't yet showing on app. Suddenly, my internet stopped working so, I called Boost customer care as the add-on data never showen on the app and they said I have used my add-on data's too and refused to help.
Just the only bad experience from Boost.

    • Dial #111# from your phone and you will get all the information regarding expiry.

    • Didn’t you get sms and email to get $50 credit towards your recharge

      • Yeah, I got this SMS too

The list is never complete if UK is not there. Most convicts trace their roots back to UK. Germany would be nice too and maybe a bit of Scandinavia but I would love Canada to be there too

Is Boost still the go-to prepaid carrier of OzB?

    • If the Telstra reception is something you need (or just paid Vo-WiFi) then I'd say yes. Otherwise there's usually better priced providers out there.

They were really popular on here when you could get their $150 deal for $100, think it was around 80GB of data for the year but don't think I've seen any promos that are that good since late last year.

Catch (Optus), Kogan (vodaphone) and all those generally have pretty good deals that come out. I'd just pick and choose when you've got the option

      • It's just my Boost is expiring next month. So I live in the Sydney inner west area, so I'm not really fussy about sticking to Telstra. Is there a good prepaid option that supports 5G?

        • Good point, completely forgot about 5G. There's a lot less options there but still think it's worth looking around. There's Spintel, but I'm pretty sure Vodaphone have the cheapest plan currently, just depends on your data use.

Over time the competition should move in a bit with 5G so prices come down like they have with 4G.

      • What about Belong?

        • Wasn't an exhaustive list or even really a strong recommendation of the services, more just an encouragement to look around.

It's good to know what phone networks will work for you (Optus, Telstra, Vodaphone e.c.t), which sometimes has to be just found out through trying and then look for a deal that suits your desired usage, which these days is primarily just your data consumption. Fortunately I can do all three, actually find Vodaphone to have the fastest 4G data in my area (think there's less customers using it) but it doesn't matter heaps to me as they all worm. When I've got work in more remote areas Telstra/boost is the only option.

Don't see anything wrong with Belong, like Aldi and Woolworths mobile they're running on a slightly smaller part of Telstra's network. Which you probably wouldn't notice if you lived in a city but if you went to rual areas often it could get really annoying. If they've got a good deal for you, great!

If you're likely to need customer service then that's important to consider too, you might go for a place with local support like amaysim or something along those lines.

  • Don't forget Cashrewards bonus.

  • What happens if I activate in December? Do I still get the 40GB/month?

Was for $10 at Woolies. Got one yesterday

  • This is back on for Click Frenzy at $10 now. Ends today.

I changed from Telstra to boost to save a few bucks. Worst decision I have made in a while. The process/porting was such a mess (and still is) that people receive texts from me from a random number. Sometimes it is from my original number. It is just random. This is not the bad part. Boost has seemingly sold my phone number to data harvesters and I am getting multiple calls a day from spammers. On Telstra it was once a month. The issue is so bad that I am considering changing my phone number. Stick with Telstra and pay the extra.
