  • Cost does not matter if you have to buy original cartridges for half of retail price (not saying you have to for this printer, did not bother to check).

I'd go older Xerox units that use Samsung printing mechanism and cartridges and dead easy to either replace chip on a cartridge or just reflash firmware.

Heads up it is $322 if you have a Unidays membership and can access their student store

  • If you have TGG commercial access, this price does buy you a colour laser MFC though. And its a brother shock horror 😂

And yep, we recently bought that model, its just as good as our 15yo brother mono laser. No driver issue at all for our devices Windows / Mac

    • I prefer black and white. With colour laser you have to buy multiple toner cartridges.

Sounds like a good deal though if you want colour.

    • how do you get TGG comercial access?

    • Whats the model of the Brother colour Laser?

  • No wireless limits for me..

  • Was wondering how much does the cartridges cost , can we use a generic ones from EBay ?

      A 30A cartridge is 1600 pages

It's $82 on the HP student store, $117 on the normal HP store.

There are compatible toner cartridges on EBAY starting @ $24.50

Not going to work because these printers will support only HP Instant Ink program, HP's monthly ink subscription.

        • These are not inkjets. You are wrong.

Not wireless… are they stupid or something??
Making it wireless is barely $10 in additional parts.

    • +4

Not at all. Certain businesses and government department want no wireless on their IT devices for security reason.

They must be IT that have no networking knowledge then.

With proper networking the printers should be no less secure than a non-WiFi model.

Similar concept to having your IoT devices never connecting to the internet at home.

I've had this price range HP colour lasers - rubbish. 2 different machines had the same problem repeatedly from the start of leaving great long streaks of toner on both sides of the page. Have used all my Genuine HP toners and I am just using them now for draft printouts with generic toners - which ironically don't seem to have to have the same problem.

BTW I have an additional mono HP LaserJet 5200n from nearly 20 years ago - faultless.

  • Try and limit your printer cost to less than $300 and you can tax deduct it all in the same year.

The Good Guys Commercial have a few options.

  • upgrade yourself to Colour printer Brother for $20 more https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/brother-wi…
